Gallup Poll: Americans’ Satisfaction With U.S. Gov’t Drops to New Low of 18% … 81% Dissatisfied
Imagine if People actually voted the way they felt rather than just for a party … With the record levels of American dissatisfaction with the current government, there is no reason why all incumbent politicians should not be primary challenged.
Can things get much worse for incumbent politicians? A recent Gallup poll has Americans at an all time low for government satisfaction as it drops to 18%. You have to try to get numbers this low. Across parties, Republicans have a 8% satisfaction rate, down 3%, Independents have a 15% satisfaction rate, down 11%, and Democrats have a 28% rate, down a whopping 26%. Of course I am trying to figure out who is the 18% who actually is satisfied with our government?
Eighteen percent of Americans are satisfied with the way the nation is being governed, down 14 percentage points from the 32% recorded last month before the partial government shutdown began. This is the lowest government satisfaction rating in Gallup’s history of asking the question dating back to 1971.
The real question that needs to be asked is whether this will affect the 2014 and 2016 elections and if incumbent politicians should be extremely concerned.
This Gallup poll is right in line with the recent NBC/WSJ Poll, where 60% of Americans Say That Every Member of Congress Should Be Fired.

Perhaps this is the real reason that the Democrats feared a shutdown. It exposes a government that is vindictive and bloated beyond anyone’s comprehension.
The people need to see this on a regular basis.
The executive branch needs to be trimmed by about half as a beginning. Then the House needs to set about doing more oversight to stop the department mission creep that will happen if not checked regularly.
If those in congress cannot do their job to the satisfaction of the people, then it is the peoples job to replace them. Our founders never intended to create a permanent political class and their staff to run the government.
I couldn’t have said it better, A Texas Grandfather.
