Last night there was a bomb scared at the Jacksonville International Airport in Florida that caused the airport to be evacuated for 5 hours as authorities dealt with the treat. According to accounts, two suspicious packages were found, one in the terminal and one in a parking garage. The two packages were then removed and “rendered safe. Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office spokesman Shannon Hartley said one of the packages “had some destructive nature” and was taken offsite. Hmm, a “destructive” nature?
Two people have been arrested in connection with the discovery of suspicious packages that prompted a five-hour evacuation at Jacksonville International Airport in Florida, NBC News reported on Wednesday.
NBC had no further details and Reuters could not confirm the arrest report with the FBI, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office or airport officials.
The airport was evacuated for five hours on Tuesday night after two suspicious packages were found, one in a terminal and one in a parking garage.
UPDATE I: Suspects has been arrested in connection with the “destructive” devices.
Authorities arrested a suspect after finding two suspicious packages — including one they described as destructive — at the Jacksonville International Airport.
Zeljko Causevic, 39, was booked into the Jacksonville County Jail early Wednesday and was being held without bond on charges that include making a false report about planting a bomb or explosive and manufacturing, possessing, selling or delivering a hoax bomb. He was scheduled to appear in bond court in Jacksonville at 1 p.m.
The airport was back to normal operation Wednesday morning.
UPDATE II: Zeljko Causevic charged with false report of bomb and possession of hoax bomb.
UPDATED 8:45 a.m. — According to the arrest report, Zeljko Causevic described the device in his bag as “a luggage scale.” He also had a remote control device he called a “detonator.”
UPDATED 8:15 a.m. — Aviation Authority Police Lt. Mark Stevens says Zeljko Causevic was going through security and told authorities he had a bomb. He was arrested at that time.
He is charged with false report of bomb and possession of hoax bomb.
