Sen. Rand Paul (KY-R): IRS & Other Scandals “Really Takes Away From the President’s Moral Authority to Lead the Nation.”
Senator Rand Paul (KY-R) said on ABC’s ‘This Week’ what many Americans are beginning to feel, the IRS and other scandals like Benghazi, AP and Fox News James Rosen controversies “really takes away from the president’s moral authority to lead the nation.” Paul also called for a special counsel to investigate the IRS scandal, in which the IRS gave increased scrutiny to conservative and Tea Party groups applying for non-profit status. A recent FOX News poll showed that 66% of Americans believe that the White House knew it was going on, but didn’t initiate the policy or the White House intentionally had the IRS target conservative political groups.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Sunday said the IRS scandal is threatening President Obama’s ability to lead the country.
Paul, appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” said that the IRS and other recent controversies “really takes away from the president’s moral authority to lead the nation.”
“Nobody questions his legal authority, but I think he’s really losing the moral authority to lead this nation,” Paul added.
“And he really needs to put a stop to this. I don’t care whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, nobody likes to see the opposite party punishing you for your political beliefs.”
