The 12 year old brother of murdered 8 year old Leila Fowler has been arrested in the stabbing death of his sister. Leila Fowler was murdered and found stabbed to death in her Valley Springs, CA home on April 27, 2013. An autopsy determined that Leila Fowler died of shock and bleeding as a result of multiple stab wounds. A massive manhunt was conducted after the 12 year old boy, who was babysitting for his little sister, said to police that Leila was killed during a home invasion by a tall white/Latino male with long hair. In the beginning, the brother’s description had corroboration; however, a witness reported seeing the same man, but later recanted her statement. The search for a home intruder has turned into the unthinkable … her 12 year old brother has been arrested for her death and will be charged with murder.
The brother of 8-year-old Leila Fowler, the Calaveras County girl stabbed to death last month, has been arrested for investigation of homicide, the sheriff announced Saturday night.
Calaveras County Sheriff Gary Kuntz, speaking at the Valley Springs sheriff’s substation, said the girl’s 12-year-old brother was taken into custody at 5:10 p.m., according to a webcast of the press conference.
The brother, who has not been named, had told authorities he found his sister with stab wounds at noon April 27 while his parents were away from the house.
Leila’s brother was taken into custody at 5:10 p.m. Saturday and police hastily called a news conference to announce the arrest. How does a 12 year old brother stab his own sister multiple times and then concoct a story that some one lese did it? What type of sociopath have we got on our hands?
“Citizens of Calaveras County, you can sleep a little better tonight,” Kuntz said.
Authorities spent over 2,000 hours on the investigation “to provide Leila Fowler’s family answers to her death,” the sheriff said.
Kuntz said the investigation was ongoing. He declined to provide further details.

This is sad. Something I suspected from the beginning. LE stayed the course and apparently found the evidence to confront the twelve year old.
My prayers to the mother and father who must now face the loss of another child. Children will kill others sometimes for reasons that make little sense.
Sadly, not unexpected. Loss of two cildren for the family.
That should be children.
