Mitt Romney who believes in capitalism and growing wealth, jobs and the economy and Barack Obama, who believes in redistribution. The frightening thing is Obama just does not believe in redistribution for Americans … Obama is a global redistributor.

Obama: If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

Once again, selective editing used to spin the story to show something that is not the case. Romney has used this since his first TV ad when he conveniently left out the fact that Obama was quoting John McCain when Obama said: “If we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose.”

First, there is the age of this video and comments. I like how that was described here:
Let’s put aside the fact that the Obama tape is 14 years old – though, as The New Republic’s Timothy Noah points out, back then Romney was “still pro-choice, still pro-gun control, still pro-stem cell research, and still in favor of gays serving openly in the military.”

The main problem is the editing that removes the pre-clip context and closing remarks which clarify what State Sen. Obama is talking about. The full Obama quote follows.
OBAMA: Let me just close by saying, as we think about the policy research surrounding the issues that I just named, policy research for the working poor, broadly defined, I think that what we’re going to have to do is somehow resuscitate the notion that government action can be effective at all. Redistribution as described here is how to shift or share government resources between various programs to address the needs of the people, which I see as very different than a standard redistribution of wealth definition that is more individual focused.
One more thing is that these comments from Obama are being used in comparison to the Romney secret video. One thing not mentioned is that one is from a Presidential candidate, and the other is from an Illinois State Senator. These are not similar events, and are not worthy of this comparison.

Redistrubution is as old as the United States, before there were income or other taxes there were tariffs. Does ANYONE here think private donations paid for our revolutionary war. People pay into SS and Medicare. People also pay property taxes and sales taxes for the services you are referring to above. That is not redistribution.
Personally, I believe all but the absolute poor should pay income taxes. As Obama says, all should have skin in the game.

It lasted about 3 months, and those who worked and provided, decided they were not going to provide for those who did not.
Since those who did not had no army to make those who did provide for them, they had two choices, work or die. What do you think they chose?

Sm: Don’t play your games fool. Nope, I would say that 35 to 38 % of people have become lazy. I do not count the elderly or the military in the mix. Personally all government pensions should cease expect those in the military.
The military id one of the few government agencies that actually work\s when the LIBS allow them to do their job.
