Day’s sister reported her missing on Dec. 22 when she failed to arrive for a family holiday gathering in Northern California.
Day was last seen by her landlord on Dec. 28 [editors note: this is an incorrect date typo, should be 12/18] at approximately 5:00 p.m. She left her purse, cell phone and wallet behind and has not been heard from since.
Her car was left at a shop for repairs on Dec. 18 and it has not been picked up.
The family said that Day’s actions are out of character and they are concerned for her safety. The police believe the circumstances to be suspicious.
So was the vehicle left at the auto shop on the 18th before or after the landlord reported say her at 5 pm? Who was the last to see her, those at the shop or the landlord? How did Karen Day get home from the shop if she left her car there?
If any one has any information regarding the whereabouts of missing Karen Day, please contact the Oceanside Police Dispatch Center at 760-435-4911.
UPDATE I: Jose Ortiz Giron accused of sexually assaulting two female customers at the Oceanside tire shop where he worked. This may not be where Karen Day brought her car, but a coincidence that that this has occurred.
UPDATE II: Karen’s sister has set up a “Help Find My Sister, Karen Day” facebook

SM: I hardly think that some one puts their car in the shop and then just decides to go AWOL.
Adult missing cases are usually harder to deal with police because they are not minors. Although some common sense does need to be used. Very few just leave and are no where to be found.
You need to keep pressing them. Did she have any messages on her cell, any texts? Computer, email activity? When was the last time she received or made a call? All this info should be available on PC’s and cell phones.
RED
Hi Jeanie,
I live in Oceanside. I agree with Red. Any boyfriends or girlfriends? Who drove her home when her car was dropped off? Does Karen have a history of depression? I suggest you hire a licensed private investigator. A ex cop.
Oceanside is having the biggest crime spree in its history. Somebody just got shot tonight. I will pray for Karen’s safe return. Keep fighting do not give up!

SM: You need to do a Facebook page for her if you haven’t already (HELP FIND KAREN DAY). I looked for one earlier today and didn’t see one. I’m shocked at the lack of attention this is getting. I live in South Orange County, and look constantly. (klaasend)
Keep it in the news. I had a hard time finding this article. I saw it in the news and then haven’t heard anything else since last week. Keep getting on the police to do something before any evidence is lost. I will help…email me tcastro66@hotmail.com
