18 Year Old Southern Illinois Student Michael Wiechmann Missing Since April 18, 2011
18 year old Michael Wiechmann, a student at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL has been missing since Monday, April 18, 2011. According to his parents, they received a letter fr0m their son postmarked from Anna, Il on April 18, stating that he said school wasn’t for him. Although police believe he has not met with foul play; however his hereabouts are unknown. It is presumed that the missing SIUC student left school and maybe be at Mark Twain National Forest. Computer searches shod he was researching it prior to his disappearance. Also, Wiechmann left his computer, cell phone and residence hall room keys in his dorm room, and he is believed to be riding his blue mountain bike.
Sigler stated that Wiechmann emptied his bank accounts and rented or purchased camping equipment. A roommate told police Wiechmann had been researching areas of the Mark Twain National Forest and survival techniques in the wild on his computer.
According to a Southern Illinois student newspaper, The Saluki Times, Wiechmann was living in Steagall Hall at Thompson Point.

- 5 feet, 9 inches tall
- weighs about 135 pounds
- has wavy reddish-brown hair
- brown eyes.
