Higher Education? Jersey Shore’s “Snooki” Nicole Polizzi Paid More to Speak at Rutgers Than Pulitzer Prize Winner Toni Morrison
EVER WONDER WHAT’S WRONG WITH TODAY’S SOCIETY AND EDUCATION?
One needs to look no further than Rutgers University. Jersey Shore’s Nicole Polizzi, better known as Snooki, was actually paid more to speak to 1,000 college students than Pulitzer Prize winner Toni Morrison. What a sad commentary on today’s society and higher education when a no talent, reality TV star is paid more by a university than a Pulitzer Prize winner.
Jersey Shore’s favorite self-described guidette was featured in a Q&A session Thursday on Rutgers’ campus. Snooki – known legally as Nicole Polizzi, but no one actually calls her that – spoke to a total of 1,000 lucky students at two sessions. Her fee, for an easy few hours of work: $32,000. We’ll give that to you once more. For two hours of banter about smushing and fist pumping, she earned $32,000.
Here’s some context on that price tag. That’s $2,000 more than Rutgers is paying a deserving celebrity: Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Toni Morrison. The writer of ‘Beloved’ and ‘Song of Solomon’ will grace Rutgers’ commencement ceremony in May, speaking to a football stadium of 52,000 people, about 10,000 of whom will be taking their first steps into the real world post-college. And Morrison is only making $30,000 off the gig.
Can some one explain how SNOOKI gets paid more to speak than a Pulitzer Prize winner? Can Snooki actually speak? Seriously, if one actually wants to lose brain cells and watch the Jersey Shore, that’s your right and issue; however, an academic institution of higher education actually paying to have this no-talent wanna be Lindsay Lohan (who is an no-talent) in her own right is beyond ridiculous. How can you take yourself seriously as a university by having Snooki speak? I can understand the WWE wanting to use the exploits of the Snookmiester in Wrestlemania, but Rutgers?
Sorry, but I had my fill of weeks/weekends at the Jersey Shore in my younger years having had too many “bucket of Rocks” to remember. I will be awaiting my request from Rutgers in the mail. Oh but wait, UI am reminded that Snooki is actually an accomplished author. She wrote “A Shore Thing”. Go figure.
UPDATE I: Parents Outraged at being “snookered” by Snooki Speech.
Parents were outraged by the lack of common sense of Rutgers University in their lack of a role model in bringing Jersey Shore’s Snooki on campus for a speech. They defended their actions by stating the group had been looking for someone who could appeal to the student community. Really, who is next, Charlie Sheen?
Angry parents of students attending Rutgers University blasted the decision to pay Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi $32,000 to give a campus talk last week — and said she should stay on the Jersey Shore, the New York Post reported Sunday.
“It’s disgusting,” said Nester Delgado, 43, whose daughter is a Rutgers freshman.
“Next year, is it going to be J-WOWW or The Situation?”

This piece is proof positive of the lack of value a university places on their reason for being.
Clebrity is more valuable money wise than knowledge.
And then we wonder why it takes from five to seven years for most of the college crowd to get their act together to become real productive people.
MTV has lost it a long time ago.
So here is the inspiration from Snooki’s bawdy Jersey mouth she was kind enough to share with the Graduating Class:
“Study hard, but party harder.” What a hot mess this creature is. Loose the hair bump, the slutty clothes and the make-up and you might actually look presentable. Nothing anyone can do about the stupidity level. She gets paid big money to act like a bimbo every week, get drunk and make a fool of herself along with the other guidos.
Get a Life, MTV—this is NOT quality programming that you are mesmerizing the youth of America on.
The funniest thing about that show that I witnessed was the duck phone. Maybe Obama should get one for the Oval Office.
