No Kidding, Only 7% Think Government Employees Work Harder than Individuals in Private Sector
File the following under the category of “NO DUH”.
In a recent Rasmussen poll, only 7% of Americans believe that Government employees work harder than those in the private sector. 70% believe workers in the private sector work harder than government workers, while 23% are too busy watching reality TV and are undecided. I think we can add those that would send America to war, sorry a kinetic military operation, while on Spring Break in Brazil.
So not only do government employees get paid more and receive better retirement benefits that the private sector … they do less for it. I guess this can explain why only 16% think the US would be better off if most incumbents in Congress were reelected and why Americans have a pretty poor view of politicians in general.

Yeah buddy; I’m a partying lazy gov worker in Department of Defense, Army. Prior partying F4 fighter pilot Viet Nam time. This 63 year old supervisor gov engineer just got invited again by the Col for months in a sunny fun filled vacation spot in Afghanistan to support our troops. They even let me have a stylish new 40 lb ceramic vest to wear to deflect those pesky AK47 bullets. No kidding; the bullet proof vest has got a built in air conditioner for the 115 degree outside temperature while working on weapons/support item, NOT. Thanks to Flop ears for freezing our salary for several years… I made more money 30 years ago in the private sector and definitely didn’t work any harder or have these great vest perks. Two years to retirement, any of you 70% who work harder want my job

How tempting it may sounds..I’ll pass.
Good luck to you and come back safe.

I work for the state of Missouri. We are ranked 50th out of all 50 states for pay. A recent study showed that we earn significantly less than comparable positions in the private sector. We are not unionized and that suits me just fine. Please don’t try to lump me in with the looters and moochers in Wisconsin, California, New York, Illinois, etc…
Thank you.
simple. have your taxes held for the end of the year, then see if the unions scream louder.
i am not familiar with unions, so let me get this straight. people pay their tax money to the unions, the union member also gives union dues to the union. wow! what a racquet.
@5
Think you pay taxes to the goverment.
LMAO…..State employees get paid less. Fact we are paid 45% less than private sec! Fact we have not had a raise in 6 years! Health cost has gone up as well as other Benefits. I am a civil engineer and would be considered poor compared to private sector!

SM: Actually the poll says that govt workers do not work as hard as private sector one’s. As for compensation, probably depends on what state you live in and its not based on salary alone … pensions are factored in. You know, those pesky govt pensions that do not exist in the private business world.
