Watched this story on “Disappeared” or one of those programs, really sad.

So strange, too where a pair of sunglasses ended up and the placement of the tower that her cell pinged off of. It was in a marshy area in the middle of nowhere, hard to walk in or travel through at all…by foot or by road.

This whole story just does not make any sense.

I hope they find her, but I doubt if they will.

Seventeen year olds that run away from home, like this one did, are just setting themselves up for some predator to take them out. How I wish that society could get the message to that age group.

NGBoston… I agree, nothing much about it makes any sense. I read that the sunglasses were found on the river bank by people gathering fire wood.

A Texas Grandfather… One cannot doubt if they hope and they cannot hope if they doubt.. I would like to ask that you please consider thinking about “hoping” and praying instead of doubting. Also, it has never been proven that Brittanee “ran away” in fact, according to tips and clues that came forth in the first week of her being reported missing the Myrtle Beach Police and the FBI determined that she had been abducted. Not only do I hope this family finds their daughter soon, I also hope that after 1 1/2 years that people do not start bashing this family or their daughter again. It accomplishes nothing, no one is perfect, we all have choices, and no matter what she was wearing, what color is was, what type perfume she was wearing or how her hair happened to blow in the evening breeze… Brittanee in no way forced anyone to harm her. The person responsible made the decision to do so completely on his on.

As any typical teenager begging to go away with some older classmates for Spring break, Brittany did NOT have her parents permission & told her Mother she was staying at a friends house over a period of several days. There was video surveillance of her leaving the hotel, she kept in frequent touch via constant text messages with her boyfriend. By the hour, minute. She had been complaining to him she was feeling less and less comfortable with the group she was rooming with as they partied too much, and were also taking drugs which she didn’t do. She returned to the hotel since a girl she was rooming with wanted her shorts back to wear for the evening out. Again, there is surveillance of this. She also ran into a male acquaintance of her boyfriends, and there is a brief video of her at his hotel room with a few people, out on the balcony, bored and texting as she didn’t wish to go clubbing again with the group she was with the group that evening. This young Male has since been cleared.

Anyway- the last surveillance was Brittany leaving the hotel, then walking while texting till she is out of range.

The program was interesting, and CLynKenn is correct about the couple who found the sunglasses, although Brittanys Mother said while she owned similar pairs, she could not be certain those were her daughters. Again, the cell phone pings and times of last communication and ceasing the texting with her boyfriend are the most perplexing. He tried and tried and tried and became panicked when it just ceased, and immediately went over to Brittany’s parents to tell him the truth of where she was and his concern that something was wrong.

Hopes and prayers go out to her family and further sincere wishes that something breaks in this case soon.

Boston in your reply above you stated… “She returned to the hotel since a girl she was rooming with wanted her shorts back to wear for the evening out. Again, there is surveillance of this. She also ran into a male acquaintance of her boyfriends, and there is a brief video of her at his hotel room with a few people, out on the balcony, bored and texting as she didn’t wish to go clubbing again with the group she was with the group that evening. This young Male has since been cleared”.

It’s my understanding, based on the numerous articles I have read, that Brittanee never made it back to her hotel to return the shorts. The articles also say that her b/f called a family friend and he called the girls Brittanee went with, it was that girl who told him that A) she never made it back to the hotel to return the shorts and B) they had no idea where she was. This guy then called Dawn and told her what was going on (again, based on many different articles). Also I am wondering if the “male acquaintance of her boyfriends” that was cleared is Peter Brozowitz or if it is someone else.

Also, when I said it had been proven that she had not “ran away” I was referring to her running away while in Myrtle Beach. I know she did not have her Mother’s permission to go. Though she did not have permission, it was her intent to return home (Dawn said several times that when she last spoke to Brittanee she told her that she would see her tomorrow, which I believe was a Sunday). I hope something breaks in the case also, it’s been almost 2 years. I understand it is best to have a solid case and there are many things the police keep to themselves and I grasp the reasoning behind it, yet not much of this case, based on the articles I have read, make sense. I join with you in hopes and prayers go out to her family and further sincere wishes that something breaks in this case soon.

On another note… I read that the police received another tip after this latest search.

#5- On the program I saw, she did in fact, she changed her clothing and left to RETURN the shorts to wherever her friends were (club I assume) at the time.

Scared Monkeys Sister Site (BLINK ON CRIME) is an excellent resource for facts on these types of cases. She is wonderful and way more knowledgeable in regards to Missing Persons/Crime investigations.

Also- Blink herself frequently appears on Dana’s Radio Show and she is just amazing to listen to. She also shares admiration for another knowledgeable blogger with the same interest, Vallhall, whose blog is TheHinkyMeter.

IMO. both Blink on Crime and The Hinky Meter are two of the best out there…I have no patcience for Webslueths. Now if you really want to have a laugh on many of these cases (especially Caylee Anthony) or anything in general- Also check out The Egg Tree News Blog. Hilarious! He doesn’t post often. but damn is he funny.

=) I really do hope something new breaks in this case soon, like you I would rather remain hopeful and I wasn’t trying to pick on or disagree with anything you wrote. Sometimes things get a little lost in translation over the web, you know?

I seen this story on Disappeared today and it made me cry. You could feel the love of all of the people involved in her intimate life. I can only imagine what the family and her boyfriend are going through. I am so hopeful that Brittanee is still out there, alive and waiting to be found. I will be and have been praying for her and for the family.

      >A Texas Grandfather: Brittanee did not run away, she went on a trip for spring break against her mothers approval and was very ready to come home by the third day of being in Myrtle Beach. I agree with ClynKenn that instead of holding doubt, there is still hope and to harbor that hope and to pray for her would be the best thing for her at this point, the power of prayer can be astonishing!
I would say this to anybody that has doubt, since there are no clues or any evidence of a body or any remains we cannot lose hope.

This is one of the saddest things ever. This little girl hit home with me so much that I to launched a internet investigation. I believe that a man whom I gave the authorities all of the information had some knowledge that needed to be researched. This person was saying things that were way to real to dismiss. (They never brought him in for questioning). He claims to be a known psychic . I still believe that he knows something . He also lives in the location vicinity of where they believe her phone last pinged ! I know they have worked very hard, but sometimes every thing counts. This is in NO way disrespect, but if this were my child I would have this crazy man brought in, home checked ,cell phone records checked and ,EVERYTHING investigated. He said his father is a JUDGE .I speak as a mother who cares.

A TEXAS GRANDFATHER… I was saying the same thing during the Disappeared show, a 17 yr old girl, lies to her mother, goes to a party beach during Spring Break!! with older friends, that apparently she didn’t know very well since she just found out that they enjoyed doing drugs on this trip…this whole situation is (sadly) a perfect set up for something bad to happen! I too wish this message is common sense, but unfortunately todays young children make very bad choices. I am very sad from the story and wish this had never happened. Young kids should be shown this video in school or should be apart of some sort of public awareness for ALL children!

I revisited this story watching ID channel last night. The area of where Brittanee’s hotel was located seems nice enough, but the area where her friend’s hotel was seemed questionable. According to street view maps, there was a continuous bicycycle lane and numerous public parking lots throughout the strip where she walked. My theory is that once she was spotted, the two or more perps easily pulled up near her and used a guise to lure her closer to their vehicle where she was quickly grabbed. She seemed to be in mid text conversation at the time with her boyfriend so the cellphone was likely still in her hand and then fell somewhere in the abductor’s vehicle during the struggle. They found the phone when cleaning up the car or discarding Brittanee’s personal items. Too bad that 911 did not get access to cellphone pings right away. Something should be done to improve cellphone access with law inforcement.

Something should be done to improve cellphone access with law enforcement. Based upon the last ping location, I believe this crime was committed by a local or locals who may have fished around there and knew about the prevalence of alligators. That may be a pretty plausible explanation as to how the poor girl may have just have vanished just near the last cellphone ping.
