ACLU Upset with President Obama for his TSA Pat-Downs Joke During SOTU … “Violations of the Constitution are NO JOKE!”
It does not appear that all were amused with President Barack Obama’s SOTU speech. The ACLU is expressing their ire over Obama’s TSA pat-down joke. While talking about spending more tax payer dollars on high-speed rail, Obama joked that “you go places in half the time it takes to travel by car and for some trips, it will be faster than flying – without the pat-down.” Needless to say, the ACLU was not amused.
“… for some trips, it will be faster than flying – without the pat-down”
During his third State of the Union address Tuesday night, President Barack Obama cracked a joke about TSA pat-downs – and earned an immediate rebuke from the ACLU.
Awkward laughter and a scattered applause followed as Obama smiled and chuckled.
Moments after the president made the remark, the American Civil Liberties Union fired out a Tweet that read: “President Obama makes funny about TSA pat-downs, but the violations of the Constitution are NO JOKE!”
It was accompanied by a link to a scathing report on the ACLU’s Web site, which noted complaints “from men, women and children who reported feeling humiliated and traumatized by these searches, and, in some cases, comparing their psychological impact to sexual assaults.”
As Weasel Zippers stated, isn’t it great when Progressives attack each other.

GEEZ, you think that people would be upset about “high speed rail” and wasting more tax dollars because AMTrack has been such a success.
R
The ACLU making a big thing about nothing. How stupid.
______________
Sm: Well, I hardly think what the TSA is doing with illegal search is nothing; however, a joke is a joke. Most of Obama’s jokes bombed miserably.
I would like to think that one would be more upset with all the spending that Obama mentionaed in his speech. Oh, sorry its called investings now by liberals.
R
The whole speech was lack lustre, and I could only watch a short portion of it.
Obama is a Nazi scumbag. Call your congressional reps and tell them to stop TSA. Call the white house also. Obviously, the p(edit) Obama likes terrorizing Americans.
looks like old joe bin biden doesn’t believe
a word that obama is reading from his
teleprompter.
_______________
SM: What I found most interesting that there were times that Biden clapped and others where he did not when Obama was promising the world and talking about spending more $’s. Does that mean that Biden did not agree with what the President was saying?
R
#3,
I think you meant to say:
I could only watch a short portion of it, yet the whole speech was lack lustre.
____________
SM: Steve, don’t annoy people by trying to correct what they say. That is troll-like.
R
I always get a kick out watching Biden. He is so tickeled to be sitting in that seat he looks like he about pee his pants.
Over 20 Plus Months of 10% Unemployment rates and higher—-now—-that is NO JOKE.
That is the Presidency under Barack Obama.
And, #6-Steve, maybe you should consider teaching an on-line course in ESL and proper grammar to all the Illegal Aliens you O-Bots also want to live and prosper in our Country. They will need to suck up more AFDC benefits though so they can go to Rent-A-Center and afford that laptop.
SM- thanks for having my back.
Steve, if you were trying to correct me, you still got it wrong. Your version could imply I was not able to to watch the whole speech due to a prior committment. But no, I attempted to be a good citizen and watch it. I had to leave. My husband continued to watch it, and I was obliged to at least hear it from another room.
But if you are interested, I thought the applause was tepid, he was not able to bring about a rousing standing ovation that I could see, although some tried to get one going. The expressions I saw on many faces were hardly those of enthralled listeners.
His comments were vague, generic, kind of wimpy feel good remarks. He brought up our beloved military, he can hardly bask in any of their glory there.
He’s not a leader, he had absolutely nothing to recommend him for the job. It would be as if someone who could not add was applying for a job as an insurance actuary.
When I hear or read that he’s a great orator, oh hell no. Give me a break.
So, I tried to take the high road and just comment that I was not moved by his speech. Now look, I had to lay out more reasons.
Really Steve, what WAS you point?
#6,
SM –
I didn’t correct what was said, I merely reversed the phrases. When this is done to a true statement of the form given, the meaning remains unchanged.
In what I did, it is easier to see the unavoidable contradiction of what was said, and IMO, with a nice touch of humor. I actually find it refreshing to annoy people whose comments are so lackluster, especially if it is simply by using their own words (in reality, how can they be truly annoyed if it was their own words).
What happened to people’s humor genes; can’t you see the joke?
______________
SM: I actually agree with you. This was the least that was wrong with Obama’s speech. I actually found it somewhat funny.
The continued govt spending is the part of his speech that was not funny, that and the need for high speed rail. Cuz AM Tack is such a success. Hey Prez, this ain’t Europe.
R
The original comment was illogical; I merely swapped the phases to point out the obvious.
p.s. – why do normal responses get blocked?

SM, do idea what you are referring to. Nothing was blocked.
