Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik Blames Arizona’s “Prejudice & Bigotry” for Shooting of U.S. Rep Giffords by Jared Lee Loughner
Um, gee Sheriff Dupnik, who is fanning the divisive flames?
How disgusting and low must one be than to co-opt a tragedy for your own political gain? Even during President Obama speech (VIDEO) this afternoon, he called for people to come together, support each other and pray for Gabrielle Giffords and the other victims and their families, even if Obama said, “Gabby was a friend of mine”. I think he meant “is”. It is too bad Sheriff Clarence Dupnik could not do so.
During tonight’s police press conference regarding the shooting of U.S. Rep Gabrielle Giffords and others at a Tucson grocery and shooter Jared Loughner, Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik made a simply rotten comment. Dupnik blamed Arizona’s “prejudice, bigotry and vitriol” for the shooting. Far be it a crazed, loner, pot smoking loser that be held responsible for his actions.
Isn’t this something. These comment come from the same individual, Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, who called the Arizona Immigration law unwise, stupid and racist and said he would not enforce it. No agenda here, is there by Sherif Dupnik rather than focusing on those killed and wounded by the gunman.
Video Hat Tip: Gateway Pundit
Comments from Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik via the AP:
“But again I’d just like to say that when you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain people’s mouths about tearing down the government, the anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous. And, unfortunately, Arizona I believe has become sort of the capital. We have become the Mecca for prejudice and bigotry.”
According to all reports, the suspect Jared Lee Loughner has not cooperated with police or provided a motive as to why he went on a shooting spree. So what mind reading capabilities does Sheriff Clarence Dupnik possess? So all crimes in Arizona are the cause of prejudice and bigotry? Or is it only one’s that fit his liberal agenda? How is it on the very day that America, namely Arizona is traumatized by this mass murder shooting, that the Sheriff in charge blames Arizona for their “prejudice and bigotry”? How sensitive of Sheriff Clarence Dupnik.
Seriously Dupnik, why don’t you just man up and blame AZ governor Jan Brewer, Sarah Palin, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hanity, Glenn Beck and the Tea party for the murders. Because Heaven ford you actually find a crazed, pot smoking, Communist Manifesto reading lunatic responsible for his actions.

Goodness, Godness, Agnes, the people of Pima County have
allowed this clueless idiot to rise to the level of Sheriff.
Demonstrating unbridled predisposition toward unreasonable
pre-judgement, this twerp of a supposed lawman speaks out
on subject he lacks knowledge of. Pima County must get out
the shovel and clean out the stall.
Amen, rightknight. This idiot doesn’t have a clue and what good is a clueless lawman. I have heard this fool’s rhetoric until I am about to puke. If the people of his district cannot vote him out then they deserve what they get, and it sure as hell is not protection and defense.
A lot of people are trying to score sick political points with this tragedy, but try to resist it. The guy had a list of favorite titles that included both conservative and liberal books. The guy had an anti-government rant on youtube, but in it he burned the American flag. He was demented and is a criminal- that’s how you describe him, not as liberal or conservative.
I believe the Sheriff’s comments were unnecessary and not very intelligent. To take such a horrific event and make it political is unthinkable in my mind. Please all you liberals, MSNBC and others stop! Think of the people who lost loved ones, not political gain.
Your right, Rightknoight, this guy makes me want to puke. I have heard him repeatedly with his clueless ramblings and there is nothing as worthless as clueless lawman. The good people of Arizona need to remove him from power next election if they wish to be protected and defended.
At the same time this is about a tragic event where people have died and been seriously injured by a nutcase. Our prayers and thoughts should be spent on the victems and not this idiot Dupnik or the perpetraitor of this crime.
I would like to have thought that the sheriff would have provided the facts of the case like any missing persons case. Not provided his bias politcal agenda and speculation as to why the gunman did what he did.
This is a sheriff? He is guilty of exactly what he is claiming of others.
His focus should have been on the victims and the crime, not his personal agenda.
Sad.
A deranged individual and those with serious Mental Health disorders & problems who are Anti-Government (Think, Timothy McVeigh) are always going to exist.
This tragedy should be cast as a slant against the rantings and psychosis of an unstable, deranged individual. The loss of life here and prayers and wishes for recovery of it’s victims should be the number one issue which Americans continue to embrace and support.
To have any Member of LE express otherwise is to over sensationalize the underlying issue of an isolated individual and incident.
*should not
Why is it always o.k. for liberals to spew their own special brand of hate and they are never held accountable for it? Take CNN for instance, the IMMEDIATELY brought people on who politicized this. That jerk Joel Stein from the NY Times, just about blamed Fox News for inciting this sick, evil individual. Read any of the political boards today and the vitriol that is coming from left wingers is mind blowing.
_____________
SM: Because that is the liberal bias in the media. Nancy Pelosi called Tea Party go’ers brown shirts and Nazi’s. But that’s ok. Obama has made numerous combatives comments, but thats ok.
In fact, the sheriff who made the comments was doing exactly what he was accusing others of. How liberal of him. He says the Anti-illegal immigration law was unwise, stupid and racist. However, here he is jumping to conclusions and blaming people for the shooting, other than the gunman. Who is causing vitiole? But like a typical liberal with an agenda, its I can call you anything and I am not judges by my own words.
R
flush this stinking turd miserable excuse for a LEO into the sewer where we have the means to get rid of toxic waste liberals.
Sheriff Dupnik: You did a great job. A lot of us here in KY applaud you for your straightforwardness. You said exactly what is needed, and too many that have posted have guilt written all over their posts. Good job!! Direct and honest. Our local sheriff can say the same about some parts of this state. Thank you.
___________
SM: Oh really, do you really want your law enforcement jumping to conclusions and making judgemnents about you with out the facts. I hardly think so. Get a clue will you. I guess you must feel the same when Obama attached Tea party members?
R
Truth hurts, I know. It scares little monkeys.
___________
SM: Oh if some of you only had a brain. Maybe you are to blame for the shooting. How ya like them apples? With some follish comments, you are included in on the vitiole that the sheriff was referring to.
R
I say Thank God it’s the FBI investigating this case because the Pima Co. Sheriff is not up to the task. No way should he be sharing his “Personal” views. His job is to maintain law and order but instead he is the one inciting the public on irresponible behavior. This most likely is not a political issue but just one very sick kid who should have been getting mental help. Get off the bandwagon all you politicians and stick to the issue. Six innocent people dead and another 14 injured and fighting for their lives. Now I am to understand the Westboro Baptist Church (another idiotic) group is going to protest at the funerals. Oh, what a sad country we have become.
This man lives with the daily reality of what is going on in one of the most politically divided states. Is no one going to mention Sarah Palin and her campaign placing cross hairs on this congresswoman’s district? “Don’t retreat! Reload!” What a crock of ignorance.
____________
SM: Yes, what you are saying is ignorance. get over yourt Sarah Palin derangement syndrome. If people think that cross hairs mean guns and not just that some one is being targeted politicall, then you are an ass.
Would bullseys be better for you? Some of you people really need your heads examined as you are not much more sane than the AZ gunman.
R
I like how hatred of Obama’s big government antics is equivalent of ‘anti-government’. But when leftists, like the pot smoking shooter and other liberals, were railing against Bush, it was the sincerest form of patriotism.
Fact is ONLY DEMOCRATS embrace people who think Mao and Marx are peachy. In the ONE NATION rally, they had a link to the ‘Communist Party of America’ to their site. And Obama’s official site had a link to the ONE NATION rally. So two clicks from the official Obama site, you could be signing up to be a communist.
Also there are news articles that list all the shooter’s favorite books EXCEPT The Communist manifesto.
That sheriff is also doing a deservice, by claiming the shooter was crazy. Let the jury come to that conclusion. Totally amatuer hour by Dupnik. Hopefully the FBI will take over the investigation and not that senile Sheriff.
_____________
SM: Very well said.
R
[...] in the presser, rather than jumping to conclusions, advancing your adenda, speculating and blaming “prejudice & vitriole” for the [...]
Its always a sad thing when innocent people are hurt praticularly children but isnt it ironic that Gifford and who is a democrat and the judge nominated by a republican President have both been talked about as being fair minded and willing to listen to both sides. It is not new in our politics but two people who believe in listening to the other side end up being hurt by this kind of violence. This little girl who just wanted to learn about our political system who was born the same year that our nation suffered a tragedy died such a horrific death. I really think this sheriff is right this is a moment for us to do some soul searching as a nation we can make this a watershed moment in our country and come together or we can just continue the way we were.
Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik is a disgrace. He needs to be retired quickly. The people of AZ should take not of this lunatic and elect someone who is more in tune with the real situation and not this moron.
The language used in most of these responses are exactly what the sheriff was talking about!
______________
SM: Spare me. If that is the case, you might want to take a history lesson, because this country was founded on a much more harsh debate than that. You libs need to grow a set.
You also might want to review what you guys said during the Bush years. How pathetic.
Sorry if obeying the rule of law is too mean for you.
Wow, I thinkl you were too mean and threatening in your comment above.
R
I sent the following to Pima County Sheriff Dupnik. I thought I would share.
Sheriff Dupnik,
In light of your bias comments I recommend that you discontinue your comments meant to incite the public. You blame radio and “imaginary monsters” for the tragedy that occurred at the Safeway on January 8th. Your suspect was NOT or is not a right wing nut. You in fact know he was a high school dropout dope smoking American flag burning POS. Right wing, Republicans and or Tea Party supporters DO NOT BURN THE Flag (they honor it) nor do they read and follow the writings of communists and fascists. Your inaccurate statement regarding the actions of one Patricia Mariash (sp) made you look stupid or uninformed. Her opening statement (which followed yours) was “The Sheriff has it wrong” when interviewed on TV. We Law Enforcement Officers have it tough enough without a department leader making irrational statements. It reminds me when the Mayor of Los Angeles inflamed the public which instigated the “Rodney King Riots” of the 1990′s. Words do have meaning Sheriff and wrong ones deliver the wrong message. Forget trying to set yourself up to run for governor in 2014, you are not up to it.
Are you all deluded? Sheriff Dupnik was brave to speak out the way he did. He has more than likely committed political suicide than helped his career.
_____________
SM: Actually, you are deluded. This man is a law enforcement officer and supposed to provide facts and evidence, NOT A BS POLITICAL AGENDA. Just because you are a Lib and agree with him, does not make it right. Only in your mind. What happens when this Sheriff falsely acceses you of something just because he feels this way with no proof.
Get a Clue.
R
# 11, 12, 14,: what’s wrong ? even when one of your rqdical left wing murderers kills one of your own, you want to blame conservatives or, fox news.
read the news deadbeats, this kid was described by his classmates as a ( LEFT WING RADICAL POTHEAD) meaning , one of your’s so take the responsibility and use it as a lesson and stop your violent fellow lefites from committing more crimes.
None of the on-going political rhetoric will take away the fact that a deranged man, shot many, many people, and murdered 6. What people are doing by the political nonsense is simply vindicating the killer from responsibility of murders he alone committed.

Sheriff Dupnik Don’t count on my vote next time… I think that you have lost your mind, since I last voted in 2008. I am a Republican and have voted for you, every time since 1986, when I 1st moved to Tucson.
well…allmost everybody of you proved his point.
and he isn’t political.
doesn’t mention any of the parties.
_______________
SM: Dolf, you have no idea what you are talking about. Really, the more you write, the more foolish you sound. This media whore has done numerous interviews, not just this one. he says he is a Democrat and directs this at Palin, et all.
Get a clue and the facts before you comment.
This clown is acting in a manner that he condemns, buts that OK for LIBS and their double standard.
Dolf, we do crime investigations on this site for missing persons and murders. Never would we expect a sheriff to act liek this. Maybe if he enforeced the laws and provided facts rather than his political propaganda, we would have a better discorse.
This sheriff is to blame, how is that for an accusation? Its about as lucid and factual as the ones made by him.
R
[...] County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik criticizes other of hate and vitriol and then does it himself [...]
I agree that if that sheriff can’t contain its emotions, he shouldn’t have given that interview.
But again.
He is right, both parties are being really nasty towards each other.
BOTH PARTIES
_____________
SM: Dolf, this is not new and any one who says so has no comprehension of political discourse in America.
Just because one disagrees with a policy and does so with vigor is not a threat. Neither is putting cross hairs on a map. To put a cross hair on the pic of a person is quite a different story.
R
(re: my message from 3:22am)
So, I’m deluded? That’s a good one. All this guy did was make a statement about the vitriol and hate that is spewed 24/7 on certain radio and tv stations and the possible effect it might have on unbalanced people. He made no mention of specific persons or stations yet all the “righties” start castigating him as if he did name names. Hmmm….on second thought I guess you aren’t necessarily deluded as much as you are paranoid!
(By the way, it’s not “acceses” – it’s “accuses” -and this very statement on your part only reinforces the “paranoid” theory).
When I was a kid, there was a common saying – “The truth hurts”. Obviously, Sheriff Dupnik has proven that by the reaction he is getting.
___________________
SM: Wahatever …. what if I saw you are respionsible for the crazoid going on a killing spree.
I guess you also believe that the USA was respionsible for 9-11.
This gunman was not a left wing or right wing lunatic, he was just a lunatic.
However, the fact that you would so openly blame other with no facts and support those that do the same make you a fool. Sorry, byt this site and its sister sites do criminal investigations and deal with LE all the time. They do not act like this. When we do an investigation for a murder or a missing persons case, the LE does not go out and make a statement about gun control. They present the facts, the time line and gather evidence so to effectuate a conclusion.
Sorry, but Jared Loughner is responsible.

Can you honestly say that this kind of language isn’t inciting?
_____________________
SM: Would I have worded it that way, no. Do I think it is inciting violence, no. No difference than Obama saying that, they bring a knife to the fight, we will bring a gun.
http://radiopatriot.wordpress.com/2011/01/09/if-they-bring-a-knife-to-the-fight-we-bring-a-gun-obama-6142008/
If you were correct than people every where would have been taking up pitch forks. Oh that’s right, that was once again said by a Democrat inciting violence.
If some of you are so foolishly literal, you belong only watching Survivor and American Idol.
Just a little newsflash as to what the Founder said in the Declaration of Independence:
http://www.ushistory.org/declaration/document/
Jared Loughner previously made death threats against people in Pima County, including staff at Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When the Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, Sheriff Dupnik’s deputies wrongly assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that the further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it would solve. Was Jared Loughner’s mother, Amy Loughner, employed as a Natural Resource specialist for the Pima County Parks and Recreation a factor?
Every victim of his threats must also be wondering if this tragedy could have been prevented if Sheriff Dupnik had been more aggressive in pursuing charges against Mr. Loughner. Perhaps with a felony conviction he would never have been able to lawfully buy weapon he used to strike down the lives of six people and decimate 14 more.
This was not an act of politics. This was an act of a mentally disturbed young man hell bent on destruction. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department was aware of his violent nature and they failed to act appropriately.
Sheriff Dupnik FAILED to investigate fully and assure that Loughner did not have access to lethal weapons and see to it that he received the mental health care he obviously NEEDED. This is unacceptable and the Sheriff should answer for it. This tragedy leads right back to Sheriff Dupnik’s gross negligence and all the spin in the world is not going to change that fact.
http://smashabanana.blogspot.com
First, he didn’t blame the Right or Palin or the Tea Party but those seem to be the ones defending themselves.
Second, now you all know how people feel about Glenn Beck’s ridiculous statements.

New definition:
Dupnik: an insulting reference denoting somebody who jumps to conclusions and makes accusations without any knowledge or foundation in fact to favor his own hypocritical political views.
I am not a Tea Partier. I am not a republican. But I agree it is absolutely disgusting that Dupnik immediately tied this tragedy to politics. What he has done is un-American. He is using his office as a public servant and the tragedy of others to promote his own personal political view. The reason why so many Americans hate politicians is because of this type of behavior. Once elected the politics should STOP and it is especially inappropriate to play politics in a tragedy where others died. What a Dupnik!
What a Dupnik! He jumped to his conclusion without any foundation for his accusations. It is overwhelmingly clear that this guy is insane. It is fully possible that his reasons for acting might be because Giffords was not liberal enough for him. What happens when this comes to light and we discover his motivation came from the Daily Kos instead of Rush Limbaugh?
In the interview he talks about 2 people who were his personal friends: What a Dupnik! ALL SIX of the victims who died and all the other wounded ARE his constituents. It is completely inappropriate for him to play personal favorites because he knew some of the victims. What a Dupnik!
What is overwhelmingly clear is that Democrats and Republicans BOTH us strong language to motivate their voters. Dems “Target” elections for wins just as Republicans do. It is so hypocritical to criticize somebody for doing something which you also do. His speech is also inciting anger in others. What a Dupnik!
I can only hope Dupnik will be voted out during this next election. I know that I will forever remember his name and use it over and over to refer to hypocritical politicians who accuse others of exactly what they are guilty of. What a Dupnik!
#6,
“He is guilty of exactly what he is claiming of others.”
Perhaps you can explain the bigotry, hatred, anger at government that the Sheriff exhibited in his comments?
#10
Thanks for your special brand of hate.
#12,
“Truth hurts, I know. It scares little monkeys.” – I fail to see how this is “cruel and bitter”, as my web dictionary search describes vitriol.
#13,
“Westboro Baptist Church (another idiotic) group is going to protest at the funerals” – there is also the perspective they are exercising their Constitutional First Amendment free speech rights (not that their speech is necessarily agreeable to others).
SM (#14),
From comments I’ve read and heard since this tragedy happened, there is wide misunderstanding of things like the so-called “cross-hairs”. It isn’t a matter of what was intended by those who created and publicized them, or what each of us take them to represent. The real issue is how these symbols might be mistaken to be something else in the mind of those outside rational thinking.
An imbalanced or deluded person can see something that was unintended, but very real to them. Sane people can agree or disagree with political statements, without adverse results. But when the statements are laced with hate, anger, or possibly violent rhetoric, these strong words may affect irrational and unclear thinkers very differently. They may see a call to action, or another reason to think more about violence.
If it is possible to debate without hate, anger and related rhetoric, yet still explain or make a position known, then why isn’t this a good thing?
#15,
“That sheriff is also doing a deservice, by claiming the shooter was crazy”
Actually he said “there is reason to believe this individual has mental issues.”
I know several Democrats who never mention Mao or Marx, so your related comments might be anecdotal, at best.
SM (#27),
“Just because one disagrees with a policy and does so with vigor is not a threat”
I fail to see serious discussion of policy in many comments posted by the followers of this site. Rather than debate ideas and policy, there can be useless comments that demean others, and convey ad hominem anger and hatred.
It would be a welcome improvement if this premise were, in fact, able to become true at some point.

SM: We live in the real world, there are all types. When a government does not listen to its people and treats them as the enemy, how would you expect people to act. When we first started blogging in 2005 and prior when I was a commenter on other political sites in early 2000, it was much different. Before many pol bloggers decided to get in bed with the political parties and be their mouth piece.
Part of the reason for the difference is the issues are black & white, there is little room for compromise and generally compromise is hated by all sides and does no good.
I think when a President uses the term enemies as his opposition and cannot say that terrorist are a result of radical Islam, we have a real issue. When Obama uses the very rhetoric to condemn Americans that is an issue. It startes from the top down. Why did Obama say that we should not jump to conclusions after the Fort Hood shooting, yet nothing at all like that here?
After all, if they bring a knife, we’ll bring a gun. Right? Who said that again?
R
#28 – Right on! I couldn’t agree with you more.
SM (#28),
“This gunman was not a left wing or right wing lunatic, he was just a lunatic.”
“Sorry, but Jared Loughner is responsible.”
These claims, setting aside innocence until proven guilty, are the best assertions that fit the situation. Given the possible convoluted state within his mind, it may not be possible to ever find out what possible influences led to this violent act.
______________
SM: Let’s not bring up “guilty until proven innocent”. HE IS 100% GUILTY. When heroes tackled this SOB and held him down after he gunned dowen innocents in an assasination attempt on Giffords.
What made him do it … he was bat S#it nuts. We have followed, investigated and researched far too many crimes. Somethimes there is no reason other than the fact that some people are truley evil. They get fixated on something or someone and thats it.
The only way to have ever prevented this was if someone had the ability to have him committed for observation. Personally, when some one is kicked out of a school for being nuts there should be made to file it with the police.
R
SM (#44)
I was simply stating a belief in our our system of justice, which I hope all voices present here believe in (if not, I wonder what form of government they prefer?).
OK; to use your words, he was “fixated”; bat s#it nuts. What might have led to this fixation, his state of mind? Did his readings affect his “thinking”? Did his personal events with other people (of any kind) leave him with his thought patterns? Did broadcast messages or Internet opinions lead to his fixation?
I don’t think we’ll ever know, as I stated. However, I do believe whatever he was is unrelated to simply his birth; I truly doubt he was born evil. I in no way am defending his actions, just raising the idea that something likely influenced who he was on this horrible day.
___________________
SM: Are you actually following this case closely?
Much of what has been discovered is that his fixation and focus on Gabby Giffords began in 2007 when he went to a political function of Giffords, asked her a question and did not like the answer. That began his obsession.
It does not take much to trigger a delusional psychotic schizophrenic.
However, he obviously knew right from wrong by posting in advance a sort of apology for what he was about to do.
R
SM (#19),
Apparently my repeating actual comment quotations from this thread (in a blocked comment) and suggesting they were more than “harsh debate” is beyond “harsh debate”. I guess stating “I also doubt if these are useful debating terms” was beyond the pale.
How surprising.

SM: No idea what you are talking about, but if you do not start having some civility and manners on this site, you will be banned. SM (#42),
“When a government does not listen to its people and treats them as the enemy, how would you expect people to act” – once people accept this as their world-view, I guess anyone at all different from them is their enemy (hence their harsh language). I find this a sad condition, and have to wonder what overwhelming influences existed to lead a person to this ominous state.
On some level, I’m not so sure this type of world-view is actually the same as the “real world” you mention.
—–
As far as your comments on Obama:
* I’m not aware of the “enemies” usage, nor what context it may have appeared in.
* Is it really incredibly significant how one word is used or not used? Are his related actions (vi-a-vis war & security) more important than this word.
* rhetoric: such as?
* Ft Hood: is it possible the situation led to a belief that pre-judging was possible?
——
Just wondering; does the GOP not listening to the CBO impact of HCR repeal (more cost, less jobs) mean anything. Despite what the failed Rasmussen polls show, the support for full repeal is smaller when a full range of options are polled.
________________________
SM: How convenient that you never heard Obama say enemies. It was only a huge uproar where Obama was forced to retract his comment. But when Obama has used so much division, one does lose tract, I forgive you.
Obama calls Republlicans enemies:

http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/2010/12/hes-a-uniter-obama-calls-republicans-hostage-takers-video/
Obama had harsh words for the same congressional Republicans with whom he brokered the tax deal, saying that cuts for the rich are the GOP’s “holy grail” and “central economic doctrine.” Echoing comments by Sen. Robert Menendez (D., N.J.), Obama blamed Republicans for holding middle-class tax cuts “hostage,” and said it was “tempting not to negotiate with hostage-takers.”
Obama Calls The GOP “Hostage Takers” Over Tax Cut Compromise

Obama also said that Republicans had to ride in the back of the car, an obvious reference to the back of the bus. Imagine if we Republicans ever made such a reference. But Obama is the great Uniter.

As for this “the GOP not listening to the CBO impact of HCR repeal (more cost, less jobs) mean anything.”
Um you mean like what the CBO is now saying?
BREAKING: CBO Says Repealing ObamaCare Would Reduce Net Spending by $540 Billion from the WSJ
http://onespot.wsj.com/politics/2011/01/07/a/763501058-breaking-cbo-says-repealing-obamacare/
The Congressional Budget Office, in an email to Capitol Hill staffers obtained by the Spectator, has said that repealing the national health care law would reduce net spending by $540 billion in the ten year period from 2012 through 2021. That number represents the cost of the new provisions, minus Medicare cuts. Repealing the bill would also eliminate $770 billion in taxes. It’s the tax hikes in the health care law (along with the Medicare cuts) which accounts for the $230 billion in deficit reduction.
[...] Loughner. Only 32% believe rhetoric was to blame as many jumped to conclusions and fueled their political agenda like Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik. Many Democrats, Liberals and their complicit liberal mouth [...]
SM (#45),
“That began his obsession.” Agreed, and I was aware of his contact at that time.
However, what was the precise factor that began the fixation? Why then; why her? Furthermore, why did the shooting occur?
For a person in such an irrational state (which we really know little about), isn’t it fair to consider if they are influenced by events of the world? As I said twice before, it may not be possible to get any kind of answer.
What would any one of us do to improve things, so that we reduce the chance such things become less likely?

SM: The fixation was that he asked a question and did not get the answer that he wanted to hear, lol, I would think that you would understand that.
BTW, it does not have to be world events that trigger a psychotic. Since he received an unwanted answer that began the obsession, it could have been something as simple as someone saying “no” to anything that was a trigger.
Huh? Are we supposed to live in the land of gum drops and candy canes? This isn’t “ELF”.
You can’t outsmart crazy to borrow a Jon Stewart quote. There is no way you could prevent from doing every little thing that would cause a crazy person to go crazy. You breathing could cause some one to go mental, what are we supposed to do about that?
You have to use a little common sense here.
The only way anything like this could have been headed off is that he should have been profiled to have been an insanoid. When kicked out of college he should have been committed for observation as a danger to himself and others and reported the the police as a danger.

SM (#46),
Uncivil: You have me at a disadvantage, as I really can’t find any aspect of comment #46 that is uncivil.
Here is the post I made that never was approved (AFAIK, as it never appeared), and which I spoke of in #46:
SM (#19),
“this country was founded on a much more harsh debate than that”
I doubt if the citizens from our founding era were using language as can be found here (see excerpts below), although I am open to be proven wrong. I also doubt if these are useful debating terms.
* clueless idiot
* twerp
* makes me want to puke
* That jerk
* flush this stinking turd miserable excuse for a LEO into the sewer where we have the means to get rid of toxic waste liberals
* then you are an ass
* lunatic
* you are deluded
* media whore
* This clown
* How does it feel to be so obtuse
* STUPID IGNORANT MORONS
* this guy is insane

p.s. – I would hope by now you could drop the whole TROLL thing, as I am one who comments on specific matters, supporting a position (admittedly in a sometimes wordy fashion), and am not simply trying to drop bombs or use quick, caustic barbs to gum up the works. We may not ideology agree (with exceptions), but I strive for actual debate in lieu of name calling.

SM: LETS GET ONE THING STRAIGHT GREG, YOU ARE ON ANOTHERS SITE, IE THEIR HOME …. YOU HAVE ZERO SAY IN HOW THINGS ARE DONE HERE. YOU ARE NOT AN EDITOR OR AN OWNER.
That being said, try not to be a smartass and you will get a debate.
As it is you some how have an answer for everything except when confronted that the LEFT have been devisive, especially Barack Obama. Many of you on the LEFT said that GWB squandered his political capital that was gained after 9-11 in that the world felt sorry for us.
I would say that Barack Obama has been a complete failure and totally squandered his approval rating and the good graces of the people that he was elected with. This President had a great chance to brings all together and he turned out to be a lying, unqualified, over his head, devisive and most partisan President ever.
The end result was that he and his party got their butts handed to them in 2010, much let the GOP did in 2008. However, that was after 8 years, not 2. This President shows no leadership and words do not count as leadership. Obama cannot even stop his party from playing party politics with a mass murder. Instead this clown I have to believe looks at this liek an opportunity to expolit as well.
Where is it that a President from his bully pulpit says ENOUGH!!!
However, when its about something he is interested in like Obamacare and blowing out the US debt then he is engaged.

Hi
Does anyone know when Sheriff Dupnik comes up for re-election? We have to vote this clown out of office.
We are so worried about what somebody did to send this man off the deep end and IT WAS NOTHING! We do not apply this same logic to other murders…i.e. Who incited Charles Manson to kill those people, though I would say Charles Manson certainly “incited” the murders…who did Caylee Anthony “incite” with her (whatever kind of behavior wished to be discouraged to the people for whatever reason can be inserted here)..WTF? Wake up!! The concept is EXACTLY the same yet it suits their purpose to use it like this. scary that these people are deciding other peoples fates daily! Anyone found guilty of this mentality should hold NO authority and may even be a dangerous janitor. This applies to ALL criminal behaviors….the robber was incited by her useing her credit card to purchase freely at a store….the car theif was “incited by him driving a sportscar….. the fauly lies with him whos actions were not controlled and any who may have helped plan it. I do not believe no one knew but maybe. He is evil and will be put to death for this but we should relieve ourselves of the burden of ALL murders.
