16 year old Carlee Morse has been missing since August 20, 2010 in Westland, Michigan when she disappeared from her Westland apartment around midnight. Carlee went outside to make a call and never returned. Carlee’s parents do not believe she is a runaway; however, police have stated that at this time, there is no evidence of foul play and the teen does not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert.

Vigil set tonight for missing Westland teen: Sister of another missing girl aids family of 16-year-old who disappeared 3 months ago
A candlelight vigil to draw attention to a missing Westland teenager drew about 80 people Saturday night.
Carlee Morse, 16, of Westland disappeared just after midnight Aug.20.
“We’re hoping the vigil will bring some exposure to the case, because with every day that passes, we’re losing hope that she is alive,” said Beth Pluta, a longtime family friend who helped organize the event outside the home of another family friend in Garden City.
Westland police classified Carlee as a missing person in an active investigation. “We’ve received quite a few tips on her whereabouts, but at this stage of the game, nothing has panned out,” said police Sgt. Steve Bird.

I hope she is found safe and returned to her family.
I don’t understand parents who allow a 16 year old to go outside at midnight alone at an apartment complex for any reason.
I hope she is found alive. However, after nearly three months it is doubtful.
Why did she have to go outside in her pajamas and no shoes to make a phone call? Her mother said she gave her a 10 minute time limit but didn’t check to see if she had come back in until and hour later. What?
If she has got a pre-existing medical condition you would think her mother would of being worried about her being outside so long. None of this makes any sense…
I hope she is alive also..
Carlee Morse is one of 13 Missing Children included in this months (11/18/10) printing of “Missing Child Notices” published in the U.S. Postal Service’s “POSTAL BULLETIN”. Every month the NCMEC supplies as many as 24 Missing Children posters to be included in the monthly printing. These posters are then e-mailed to every Postmaster in the country (over 36,000 Post Offices). This is all part of the main Executive Order National Program to help-find-Missing-Children (the NALC/USPS CHILD ALERT PROGRAM). Postmasters are suppose to make copies of the monthly Missing Child Notices and have them displayed in both the “box lobby” section of the Post Office (for the general public to view), in the workroom floor areas (for the carriers to view before and/or after their route, and the carriers are suppose to carry a copy with them on their route (over 118,000 mail carriers). Everyone agrees this is an excellent search tool for helping find a Missing Child; however, the Federal Agencies responsible for the management and operation of this vital National Program are failing to do their responsibility and this Program is not functioning as the written instructions describe (or as the Program was originally intended). Volunteers of a public supported charity have been into over 3,000 Post Offices in 9 different States and only two Post Offices had a display of the monthly Missing Child Notices displayed (there were more Missing Pet posters displayed than Missing Children posters). This is a horrific Federal Failure that’s unacceptable! I’ve contacted my local Congressperson (Jackie Speier) and my local Senator (Barbara Boxer) and presented them with indisputable evidence regarding this failure. Everyone should do the same. Go to your local Post Office, see if the monthly Missing Child Notices are on display, if not tell your local Postmaster it’s his/her responsibility to display the posters as instructed. Imagine how the odds of finding a Missing Child would improve if every Post Office in the country had the posters displayed and the mail carriers were watching for a Missing Child while doing their route. If this Program functioned as intended it would also serve as a deterrent to sexual predators and would serve as an educational tool to teach children about child abduction prevention.
