Milwaukee Teachers Union Fights for VIAGRA in Limp Economy as Teachers Lose Jobs
Talk about out of touch Teacher’s union in a limp economy … nothing like having your priorities in place.
Guess what the Milwaukee, WI Teacher’s union finds important in a down turn economy … VIAGRA. That is correct, as people are losing their jobs, experiencing layoffs and states and local municipalities need to make touch decisions, the teachers union wants Viagra covered. I guess the teachers unions do not realize the economy has erectile dysfunction. Who on earth fights for Viagra when teachers are losing their jobs?
Milwaukee, WI unemployment rate.
With the district in a financial crisis and hundreds of its members facing layoffs, the Milwaukee teachers union is taking a peculiar stand: fighting to get its taxpayer-funded Viagra back.
The union has asked a judge to order the school board to again include Pfizer Inc.’s erectile dysfunction drug and similar pills in its health insurance plans.
The filing is the latest in a two-year legal campaign in which the union has argued, so far unsuccessfully, that the board’s policy of excluding erectile dysfunction drugs discriminates against male employees. The union says Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and others are necessary treatment for “an exclusively gender-related condition.”
But lawyers for the school board say the drugs were excluded in 2005 to save money, and there is no discrimination because they are used primarily for recreational sex and not out of medical necessity.
Is it really gender related as the union claims seeing that women may suffer just as much as men? Then again, who cares in a down economy about Viagra. Isn’t a job more important?

Wonder if the Teacher’s Union insurance company pays for birth control pills? Isn’t that is an ‘exclusive gender related product’ also?
Get this straight, teaching is hard. Spare
the rod and ruin the child they say. Educators
must speak softly, but carry a big stick. They
can rise to the occasion with proper tools.
Good instructors are gentle but firm,
wooden we all agree?
