Unexpectedly? First Time Claims for Unemployment Benefits Rise by 31K
Wow, nothing like some factual job numbers to disprove the Presidents claims that his trillion dollar stimulus plan worked.
The economic numbers are out this morning and they are not good. The number of newly laid-off workers filing applications for unemployment benefits surged last week to 31,000 after having fallen sharply in the previous week. It was reported as “unexpected”. Unexpected to who? Does any one not really think that there are a wealth of people out there who are unemployed who have not just yet filed? It is just like the unemployment number. You cannot continue to lose jobs every month and have the % decrease.
Any one who thinks that the job hiring situation is getting better in America is sorely mistaken.
The job situation in America is sadly worse than what is being reported. There are far too many people out of work and no real solutions by this Administration to help the environment for business and capitalism to flourish.
The number of newly laid-off workers filing applications for unemployment benefits unexpectedly surged last week after having fallen sharply in the previous week. The gain dampened hopes about how quickly the labor market may improve this year.
The Labor Department said Thursday that first-time claims for unemployment benefits rose by 31,000 to a seasonally adjusted 473,000. Analysts expected a small decline.
The increase followed a drop of 41,000 in the previous week which had raised hopes that the labor market, which has lost 8.4 million jobs since the recession began in December 2007, could be improving.

Just more bull$hit we can believe in !!! Obama is the biggest Lie’r the USA ever had !!!
Impeach the @$$ hole !!!
The idea of talking health care and cap-and-trade when people are close to standing in breadlines is a disgrace. Obama sulks and tells us that ‘I did not want to president during the biggest economic crisis since the Great Depression.’ Well Barry, that is the job you won. Quit blaming Bush for everything, forget about Fox News, health care and cap-and-trade, and try being a leader with ideas to get us out of this mess. And this debt commission idea is just a symbolic response to a real problem. Quit the wild spending. Stop being just another sorry politician and start being a leader with ideas and resolve.
…and the sad fact of the matter is that stimulus money built GM plants…just not in the United States.
And those “green jobs” President Obama has been heralding?
from http://www.fitsnews.com/2010/02/10/green-jobs-just-not-for-america/ :
“But the study found that nearly 80 percent of that money has gone to foreign manufacturers of wind turbines.”
I guess he thinks that the jobless will re-elect him as he seems to want even more Americans out of work.
People want jobs. Many have worked for decades and suddenly find their jobs overseas, with our government, and your tax dollars, footing the bill for moving expenses and more.
Unexpectedly, indeed!
