Daily Commentary – Monday, December 7th, 2009 – Real Role Models … How About the Families of Victims of Crime

  • People look to sports stars, celebrities, and other public figures for inspiration, but who really deserves to be our heroes? What about the victims of crime and the families of victims of crime. Look at the Mark Lunsford , John Walsh or Beth Twitty. Look at the tragedy that they have gone through in their lives and then how they deal with their pain and the strength they use to help others. They put aside their own grief and help others in the process so that hopefully this does not happen to others. That is heroic.

How right you are! The people in this country have been fed a diet of hero worship for athletes by the media. They are NOT good role models except for a very few. The real role models should be those to spend their time doing good for individuals and society as a whole.
