RSSA Peek into Government Run Obamacare … VA Erroneously Sends 1200 Veterans Letters That they Have ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease)
So you want government run health care, eh?
A special shout out to the VA, Veteran’s Association, for showing just how efficient and competent government run health care truly is. The VA sent out letters to 1200 veterans informing them that they had the fatal neurological disease, ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
There was just one small problem. They didn’t have ALS. Cash for Clunkers administration meets health care. Oh those efficient government agencies.
What better information could Americans see than the actual workings of a government run health care system and the “computer glitch” that cause such harmful letters to be sent out to unsuspecting victims. However, as Black Five writes, “I wonder how much the Obama administration has appreciated all the help the VA has been giving them showing the efficiencies, savings and professionalism of government health care”. Behind every computer glitch, there is a person.
Remember that Barack Obama stated that Obamacare would keep costs down and prevent unnecessary testing to be done. Really? When individuals received the erroneous letter that they contracted ALS, many such as Former Air Force reservist Gale Reid went out and had a battery of painful and expensive tests done.
Former Air Force reservist Gale Reid received a letter from the Veterans Affairs Department that told her she had Lou Gehrig’s disease, and she immediately put herself through a battery of painful, expensive tests. Five days later, the VA said its “diagnosis” was a mistake.
Letters were sent to 1,864 veterans about disability benefits for those with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and a “small number” have contacted the VA indicating they received the letters in error, VA spokeswoman Katie Roberts said Monday night.
However, the National Gulf War Resource Center said Reid was among at least 1,200 veterans who received the letter, even though they hadn’t been diagnosed with the illness. Veterans were initially suspicious, but still went through the pain not knowing whether they had the degenerative disease, which typically kills people within five years.
Do you really want the government in charge of 1/6 of the United State’s economy? This letter glitch was with the VA, imagine the amount of people that would have been affected if it were covering 200–300 million people? Imagine the cost of tests done only to find out there was a simple coding error.

OMG! What a bunch of incompetant fools. Do you people really want these imbeciles in control of your healthcare? I DON’T I want the government to stay out of my personal life and do the job they were hired to do. Uphold the Constitution. They work for us, we do not work for them.

Imagine you are say 70 years old and receive such a false letter. Your doctor can then counsel you on end of life “options” which you might make under the false impression that you have such a disease and its not curable.

HR3200 is 1,017 pages and loaded with provisions that government intrusion into your life, gives federal beaurocrats power to strong arm citizens and will use the IRS as it’s enforcement agency.
The American people need to get Obama OUT OF OFFICE…he is immature,no experience and doesn’t like America…cannot even salute the flag….This is our President…we need to take America, our great COUNTRY BACK…

Once again the GRAND IDIOT dolf sticking his nose in OUR business and then like always, when someone questions the “world messiah” this bumbling pile of trash heap tries in vain to slander Bush in the same light. For instance, this whole Bush slashed the VA’s budget…nope.
Unlike Obama, Bush acutally has some substance of a real man in him; he understands what it means to help our Vet’s; who are mostly seniors; the ones of Obama’s health attack on our country.

It does not matter whether the VA was being run under a Republican or Democrat President … this is what government health care is like.
Under your premise, I would support the government public option if GWB was in office. NOT A CHANCE! I would never support any such thing and I would advise voters that if any Republican voted for this option they be voted out of office.
Government is not the cure, they are the disease.
Imagine, just imagine if such a letter was sent not to those covered under the VA, but instead to 200 million people saying they had Aids? Imagine the hysteria, the run of dr’s office, the over-utilization of tests.
The facts are correct sir … Obamacare is a disaster and anyone with a clue knows it.

Because the VA is government run health care it is a disaster, not because what President is in Office.
I personally believe that any one who has ever fought and defended this country should be given a Cadillac health care policy like the one’s the politicians enjoy. Not having to deal with the VA.
However, politicians get special healthcare coverage and is the reason why when they are asked the question as to whether they would be put on the rolls of Obamacare vs. what they presently have, they are speechless.
Every one knows the horror stories of the VA. We pulled our uncle years ago out of the VA when he was diagnoses with cancer and they said nothing more could be done.
Funny, he went on to live many more years away from government health care.
The problem is the government run option, not who may be in control of government at the time.
End of story.

Re #12: Excellent post, Red! The VA is a shining example of why we don’t need the government involved in the health care business. If the country can’t take care of its veterans, who can expect the country to take care of ordinary citizens? And why should it? As someone else here said, let the free market take care of health care and insurance. It’s too bad that families can no longer be counted on to take care of their own. Government-run welfare programs helped to absolve families & parents of their responsibilities long ago and it’s a shame.

I also agree 100% that soldiers (m/f) that risk their lives should get 100% free and good healthcare.
