When Will Kids Ever Learn … 6 Falmouth, MA Middle School Students Face Child Porn charges After Sexting 13 Year Old Girls Pic

HELLO KIDS … NOTHING GOOD CAN EVER COME WHEN LETTING SOMEONE TAKE A NUDE PIC OF YOU!!!

We have previously warned of the dangers of “sexting,” a trend by teenagers that can result in nothing good. Sexting has once again reared its ugly head, this time in the Bay State. Sexting has now made it to a Falmouth, MA middle school where six male students between the ages of 12 and 14 could now face child porn charges after a boy took a nude photo of his 13 year old girlfriend and “sexted” it to his pals’ cell phones. I guess we should ask the 6 youths whether they think sending the naked pic of a 13 year old girl is such a fun idea now?

According to the Cape Cod Times the incident took place with students of the Lawrence School in Falmouth, MA.

On Jan. 15, police said they were contacted by Paul Fay, principal of the Lawrence School, after he discovered a photograph of a naked 13-year-old girl on the cell phones of six male students. Police said the cell phones were confiscated immediately, and they do not believe the picture was sent elsewhere or posted on the Internet.

One of the boys allegedly took the photo of his 13-year-old girlfriend with his cell phone, then sent it to friends electronically, police said.

Falmouth police spent two weeks investigating the boys.

A hearing to determine whether the boys will be charged has not yet been scheduled, police said.

Wendy Murphy, who lectures on sex crimes at the New England School of Law and a frequent guest on The Dana Pretzer Show, said the following regarding the out of control nature of teens and sexting:

“sexting almost has become an “epidemic. I know it seems heavy-handed to bring child porn charges. Law enforcement is using the only tool it has for what has become a huge problem nationwide.”

This one is easy..PARENTS , Don’t buy your kid a cell phone until they are responsible enough to have one. This comes with age and good upbringing. This subject came up with my 10 year old recently. She told me, she didn’t want to talk, she wanted to text. Not happening, she is too young. This becomes difficult when her friends have cell phones. I believe some parents should be tested before being allowed to have children.

If you don’t agree with my post, there is a good chance you are one of the parents I speak of.

Kids these days have it way to good !!! In my day we had nothing !!! I remember my bike was used and spraypainted. We basically didn’t have a hole lot. Now days kids have it all and then some.
I do remember getting a lot of some things like a cheesy 50 cents a week alowance a hole lot of chores and some pretty nasty beatings by the old man for being stoopid.

We can’t the cell phone companies sell phones that have the camera part disabled or locked out?

Seems that would fix the problem but I agree with ayfit…it won’t help much if the parents are illresponsible.

this exact situation came up on my 7th graders bus not cell phone but a video camera, the school did nothing when I told them about it they said it was here say, parents need to talk to their kids as I do with my son eveyday, when this happens report it and educate your children it is the parents fault period

A question I’d like to ask is: why does a 13-year-old need his or her own phone anyway?

      I’m not a parent, as you’ll probably guess….

And maybe I’m old-fashioned … but when did it become acceptable for girls of that age to strip in front of their boyfriends? What next….

I’d hope that her parents give her the harshest spanking she’s ever had … but then they’d go to jail for child abuse, I imagine.

my son has a phone so I can contact him when i need him it is a simple plan that allows me to call him but he cant call out unless i put money on his phone (& that happens when he is traveling for sports) again parent responsibilty.

My 13 year old Daughter does not have a bf who she strips for then sends a picture of herself to anyone!

#7 Dee—I’m with you—it is all about setting age appropriate limits. A priviledge is not to be abused this way. While Sexting is nothing new—this age is horrendous.

Interesting on local Boston News the Father of one of the young men in question states—-that while the act was wrong–you know, give them a break—they don’t know any better & they are only 13 yrs. old and then asks the Reporter—what did you do when you were 13???

Parents like this should not have children, Ayfit-I agree-Sterilization would have been an option for this guy…not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.

Why do parents pay extra to let their kids send pictures? You have to have internet access on your phone to send photos with your text messages, you can get a texting package on your cell phone and still block internet access, which blocks the ability to send photos. It costs quite a bit more to be able to send photos. My son has texting on his cell phone but can’t send photos. Parents need to take control.

I did get my son a phone when he was 13, but it was more for me, so I could reach him when he was in after care after school, or at practice or games, and I wanted him to be able to reach me for emergencies. He didn’t get the ability to send text messages until he was 16, and no internet access, so he can’t send or receive photos. A cell phone is definitely a luxury, but it gives parents peace of mind.

      ANewGirl: A PARENT said that?

“on local Boston News the Father of one of the young men in question states—-that while the act was wrong–you know, give them a break—they don’t know any better & they are only 13 yrs. old”

Things are worse than I thought.

If I ever had been mixed up in such stuff at that age, I know what would have happened to me … I wouldn’t have been able to sit down for a week.

The more I think of it, the more I conclude that we do indeed need what the Puritans had: the public stocks and the whipping post.

I was a lot younger and did more growing up in an all girl neighborhood !!! I can still remember the moms when we got caught in the backyard playhouse

We’ve been sowing the wind for 40+ years. Now we reap the whirlwind and everyone is shocked. This is just the beginning folks.

My 16 year old twins will get cell phones when they can afford them. All of their friends are obsessed with their phones. I won’t let this happen to my girls.

    16. Michelle Smith on February 13th, 2009 1:16 pm

It’s called being a responsible parent and monitoring your children. Both of my children 16 & 13 have cellphones but only to make calls & text. They cannot connect to the internet to send or receive pictures. I gave them both phones in case of emergencies. Most teens are not mature enough to handle the responsibilities of having a cellphone or having unlimited access to the internet whether it be through a cellphone or computer.

Monitor your children. Be responsible adults.

#12- Richard. Yes, saw him in a local interview on last Evening’s 6 O’Clock News. He was the Father of one of the boys in trouble. Pretty bad….talk about being in complete denial. I did notice however, that he seemed to be a Single Parent…no wonder his Wife left him. What an idiot…he was actually trying to convince the Reporter that the media was overreacting, and minimizing the act.

People don’t realize how serious this is – joke all you want, blow it off becasue they are just kids, BUT…read on.

The kids had a picture of a 13 year old in a state of nudity in their possession and willingly, knowingly forward it to others.

Now that may or may not fall under “Child pornography”, but the fact remains that the current state law means not only are they facing a $10,000 fine, or 10 years in jail *minimum*… but they *will* be required to register as sex offenders for the rest of their life, and subject to community notification for the rest of their life.

      http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/mgl/272-29b.htm

Chapter 272: Section 29B. Dissemination of visual material of child in state of nudity or sexual conduct; punishment

“Section 29B. (a) Whoever, with lascivious intent, disseminates any visual material that contains a representation or reproduction of any posture or exhibition in a state of nudity involving the use of a child who is under eighteen years of age,…

…shall be punished in the state prison for a term of not less than ten nor more than twenty years or by a fine of not less than ten thousand nor more than fifty thousand dollars…”

      Also, go to http://www.Mass.gov/sorb

The people of the state voted for and passed these laws. They will have to be enforced. These kids are going to pay a penalty for the rest of their life.

usa feminist teachers now seduce 13 year old usa school boys- its no shock the usa school girls send immoral pics–as they are mostly raised by single usa women— who are well known to leave the poor childern alone & get drunk in bars–look at the disgrace of that usa girl– Natalee Holloway–a bar drunk by age 18– no wonder usa men desire latinas–as they don’t engage in such a disgrace
