45 year old Bruce Jeffrey Pardo kills 8 people at a Christmas Eve party and then sets fire to the home. Bruce Pardo’s ex-wife and her parents were among the dead. Pardo showed up at his ex-in laws house at about 11:30 PM on Wednesday evening during their annual Christmas Eve party. What happened next was pure horror.

Pardo, 45, had no criminal record and no history of violence, according to police, but he was angry following last week’s settlement of his divorce after a marriage that lasted barely a year.

“It was not an amicable divorce,” police Lt. Pat Buchanan said.

Another case of a divorce gone terribly wrong most likely compounded by the stress and depression that manifests itself in troubled people during the holiday season.

UPDATE I: A Ninth Body has been Located in LA Santa Massacre

A Los Angeles County coroner’s official says a ninth body has been recovered from a home where a gunman shot up a Christmas Eve party and set the house ablaze.

Coroner’s Lt. Larry Dietz says the ninth body was found Friday morning in the gutted structure.

Increased depression and mental issues do greatly manifest themselves during the holidays.

What a sad story … why can’t people just walk away instead of creating messy divorces. Who knows if the other party is just going to snap and go bazurk? Just insane and tragic.

What’s next … will people who go through divorce proceedings have to hire armed guards?

You can’t explain the unexplainable. The rage that exists in the hearts of men. But, there was a reason for it. Maybe one that was underlying his everyday life and had little to do with what became the final breaking point.

We have the power to write premarital agreements, prenuptials and, even, enter a promise. All for the love of money. But, without trust you’ve got nothing.

We are to be evenly yoked.

I would like to know if he was taking any prescription medications that he may not have needed. That would go for the Utah ex-state trooper as well.

If they were, you may be able to bet your bottom dollar that it will not be reported, as there seems to be a news blackout on this type of stuff.

I have been scanning reports to see whether or not they were on medication and haven’t seen anything that says one way or the other.

      Interesting, to say the least.

I listenned to the 911 call on tv earlier, the mother of the child shot in the face, i just couldnt help but cry, it is another instence that IM humble opinion, makes me question “the right to bare arms”, i would really appreciate your thoughts on this, as it is SO alien to us Brits!!

    6. Kay Zee Ess on December 27th, 2008 11:34 am

Maybe had there been a firearm in the residence, there would have been less havoc and bloodhed.

If you want a gun, you can get one, even in Britain. I do not entertain the idea that the criminal element, nor anyone else with enough desire and funds, cannot get a gun in Britain.

      To think that is sophomoric.

With respect, i was only asking what Americans feel about “the right to bare arms” i do understand it is in The Constitution, but here in the UK criminal elements obviously obtain guns, the ordinary man in the street does NOT, i like it that way. Here in Scotland and indeed England Knife crime seems to be a huge issue, especially with young men and gangs, every other week, sometimes more than once a youth has lost their life to senseless violence.

I have funds, and if i had the desire i can promise you it would STILL be very difficult to obtain a gun, those that can are more likely to be involved in that world, NOT just a case of visiting your local GUN STORE, we DONT have them.

      Mary UK sez…
“I have funds, and if i had the desire i can promise you it would STILL be very difficult to obtain a gun…”

With all due respect, Mary, you rather prove my point.

The operative word in your post is “IF”, and the word “difficult” does not translate into impossible or even improbable for that matter.

Your desire for obtaining a gun would, along with your cold hard cash, get you one, no matter where you would be on this planet.

And a loose screw like this santa freak would easily mingle with certain elements that have access to those types of weapons, I would venture to guess. The old saying “Money talks, b*llsh*t walks applies here.

How long does it take to purchase a gun in the US!!! How many ordinary households have a firearm? How many people do you know that own a firearm? how many, if any, firearms have you seen in your life?

Just interested! from a country who do not permit the general ownership of guns.
