I don’t remember a single case of pregnancy when I was in high school. Not one. How do these girls intend to pay for the medical bills, clothes, diapers, food, shelter, and schooling for these children? Do they expect their parents or the government to pay for it? Having a baby is a full time job for a few years and is tough enough in two-parent homes with a steady income. What the heck are we teaching our children? As for public aid, I’m all for providing a safety net for unexpected problems, even those caused by a dumb mistake, but not when people deliberately decide to live off of government funds. Maybe the parents will help support these girls. Either way, the children are starting out life with a distinct disadvantage. This is so irresponsible on the part of the teens and their parents.

Good call, LilPuma. I’d say you hit the nail on the head. New England. Probably rich, well-to-do families and/or liberal democrats/socialists who would have the government pay for everything.

But moreso than that, I’d call it plain old ignorance.

Just ignorance on the realities of parenthood. Just saw a piece on this new show called Baby Borrowers that seems to be trying to enlighten teens on the rigors of having children.
