Robert Chambers “The Preppie Killer” Back in the News in Drug Sting Arrest
Those that do not learn from the past are destined to repeat it. Thus is the case with 41 year old Robert Chambers, the Preppie Killer from 1986 who was convicted of murdering Jennifer Levin. Robert Chambers may be headed back to jail for selling drugs and resisting arrest. Maybe this time the system will keep him behind bars where he belongs.
It was an undercover drug sting where police say they found the so-called “Preppie Killer” selling cocaine out of the Upper East Side apartment he shares with his longtime girlfriend, Shawn Kovell.
Police broke down the door to their high-rise apartment on East 57th street, and the 41-year-old Robert Chambers was arrested after a struggle with the officers who suffered hand injuries.
So Chambers is also charged with resisting arrest as well as selling drugs.

Chambers, who was freed from prison in February 2003 after serving 15 years for the August 1986 murder of Jennifer Levin in the infamous “rough sex” case, could spend the rest of his life behind bars if convicted of the new charges.
Cops got to the E. 57th St. apartment shortly after 8 p.m. where tenants, apparently aware of the drug sales, told them, “I hope you’re here for the 17th floor.” They crashed through the door of Apartment 17-B, a pricey but messy one-room apartment Chambers’ girlfriend, Shawn Kovell, inherited from her mother.
Kovell, 39, also was arrested for felony drug sales. She burst into tears as Chambers battled with police. (NY Daily News)

I’m wondering why, if this person were convicted of murder, he is out of jail.
Guess it’s a pretty stupid question, these days.
I just wanted to say HI to you Richard. Its been a long time. Hope you are well!
I had often wondered what this jury had thought at the end of his trial. Maybe like these pretty teachers who have gotton off easy – his looks got him off easy. Now, he looks like druggy street trash. Looks don’t last forever. However, what one does in life, CAN.
Like OJ nothing surprises me when it comes to Chambers. I might be wrong but I think he spent most of his prison time in solitary and it may have even delayed his release. He was where he needed to be. This clown is a risk to society.
