Snakes on a Plane … 11 Year Old Girl Sexually Molested on Delta Airlines Flight from San Diego to Atlanta
This gives a whole new meaning to “Snakes on a Plane”.
Putting unattended minor on planes is a practice that is done every day by parents, yet it is one that I could never really understand. One would think that if a plane was too crowded that no one would think of assaulting an unattended minor. If the flight was not busy then one would then presume that the attendants could watch the minors. However, when it comes to pervs, nothing is off limits and flying the friendly skies becomes an everyday risk as sex predators will try anything.
An 11 year old girl’s parents are suing Delta Airlines and claim that their daughter was sexually molested on a crowded flight from San Diego to Atlanta. Parents should really think twice before putting their children unattended on airplanes these days. There is a responsibility on the airlines part for the safety of unattended minors on flights
“Along with making sure passengers are comfortable and arrive at their final destination, our flight crews work to ensure their safety and security, which includes the thousands of unaccompanied minors who travel with us every year,” said Elliott.
She said Delta has special rules for keeping a close watch on children flying alone, including personally receiving minors from a parent or guardian, taking them to their assigned seat and escorting minors to the person specified to meet them at the destination point. There’s also a small surcharge for the service.
The incident alleged in the lawsuit occurred on Jan. 6 when the girl was on a return trip from San Diego where she was visiting her father, a Marine who was on leave. Her mother, a 31-year-old property manager from Huntsville, was set to meet the plane in Atlanta.
“Seated next to her was a child molester who switched seats so that neither were in their assigned seats,” the suit reads. “During the flight the passenger … began to rub her face. The passenger … told (the girl) his penis was itching and began rubbing his penis while rubbing her face.”
Such incidents, while apparently rare, have been reported on other planes. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)

I can see the parents didn’t teach the child what to do if approached by such a person. I’ve told me bite as HARD as you can…and I mean HARD! Also, scream Child Molester at the very top of your lungs.
The airlines cannot be held responsible for not putting someone on that child for each second, but other than that, I am not sure about liability there. The molester is the one resonsible IMO.

oops.. I meant to post “I told MINE to bite”…and by the way ladies, if you are ever attacked or grabbed by a man you do not know, PLEASE remember you have teeth too.
That puts a nice mark on the assailant that also identifies YOU as the one who put it there. Any creep with at least one working brain cell would run like hell after that. Worked well for me the one time I had to do it. He ran hollaring and I drew blood. Would do the same in a fraction of a second.
I’m only sorry I could only reach his arm and not his throat…
Following 9/11, my understanding is, the airlines have become much more rigid about people staying in the seats assigned to them.
So if this horrible tale is true (and these days, nothing is beyond doubt … nothing is even surprising any more), it ought to be easy to track down this scum.
We should let the victims Marine dad take care of the sicko.
I disagree that this child was too young to fly alone. It use to be that airlines put unaccompanied minors in the first class or business class section so they were very close to an attentive steward/stewardess. The airlines charge for the service, therefore you expect them to preform it.
What’s wrong is that the child was not taught enough to jump out of her seat and yell her head off – immediately – the second he started to touch her.
I would never allow a child under about 10 to fly alone, but I think this child was old enough, just to taught well.
Perhaps the Aruban government managed this plane.
I have let my daughter fly alone on 2 occassions (direct flights) to visit my parents in Florida. Both times we were at the gate when she departed and arrived. Either way, I admit I would never have guessed such a thing would happen, but as I mentioned, my kids are aware of how to handle trash. Shows us that we can no longer take anything at all for granted when it comes to our childrens’ safety.
These molesters are everywhere, it’s so sick. A plane full of people and he still found a way. Wait till Daddy finds out who he is. I guess someone from security is going to have to start flying and sit next to these children who are flying alone. The airlines are charging, so who is watching! These guys are just waiting for you to turn your back.
My daughter always flies Delta from Florida, thru Atlanta. There was a guy in his 40s once who wouldn’t leave her alone asking her questions. It was taken care of.
My guess is if they would lock up the known molesters, the number of missing and
murdered kids would drop drastically. I say one strike, you are out. Lawmakers keep on ignoring it and pretending the problem don’t exist, because it don’t touch their families.
#3 — Airlines have not become more rigid with regard to seat assignments. In fact, I frequently move to an uncrowded/unoccupied row if available. FA’s don’t mind. And really, it matter not a bit where one sits.
#6 — That was a foolish remark. DAL is a US based company. For all we know, it may have been your aunt who was FA responsible for the section in which the girl was sitting.
#9., I suggested that in a recent letter to a State Senator here in Mass.. (regarding Legislatures/lawmakers)..they are revising or implementing a bill regarding victims rights…on Beacon Hill ~ regarding crimes as such… I mentioned, that if crimes of such were to happen to any legislatures family, or Judges, lawyers… the laws would be very different and these monsters wouldn’t be re-released into society..I also commented, in my letter, I wouldn’t wish violent crime(s)such as this on my worst enemy either… you are so insightful regarding your statement and I wonder too, if that would be the case ~ that statistics would be more in favor of children being safer if these monsters were locked up for life… it’s truly, being proactive and much more effective and preventative than the catch and release program that presently exists…
Sadly, it seems to be true ~ if it hasn’t/doesn’t affect their family, they can look the other way… it’s time for all to look at this prevelant problem and do something proactive about it ~ What’s going to happen when they find that monster who’s preying upon children in Thailand… ? I’m very curious about this… how many years do you think he’ll get once caught and then, released back into society to do it again… (sigh)….. and again, and again……..???
