Alicia Pilouw Found Dead & Decomposing as Husband claims he Smelled Nothing
File this one under, the hard to believe category. 50 year old Alicia Pilouw had been missing since July 12, 2007. Her husband, Eugene Pilouw thought she had left him. Alicia Pilouw’s body was found three days later in a storage closet on the home. Eugene Pilouw claims that he that he never smelled her body decomposing. How does one not smell a decomposing body in the middle of the summer? Eugene actually blamed his lack of smell on his damaged nerves in his nose due to diabetes.
Eugene Pilouw, who said that diabetes have damaged the nerves in his nose, said he noticed his wife was missing on July 12. Three days later, his daughter found his wife’s body in storage room in the back area of the home.
“I never smelled anything and I still don’t smell anything,” he said. “I thought she had run away from home again — especially after I noticed an envelope with $250 was missing.” (Houston Chronicle)
A toxicology report is expected back on Monday to determine the cause of death; however, police are not ruling out foul play as officers continue investigating “unusual circumstances” surrounding her death

Diabetes can cause terrible nerve damage — often very painful — in the extremities, etc. That being said…in 30 years in the medical field I have never heard of it causing nerve damage to the nose. I guess he deserves credit for originality if nothing else!
