22 year old Miss New Jersey, Amy Polumbo, released the pictures that she is claiming to
be blackmailed with. If this pic, or this, or this is considered a potential blackmail picture, then we are all in trouble. The pictures are a far cry from the Katie Rees, Miss Nevada pics. Those were pictures that got Miss Rees deservingly dethroned. However, in the case of Miss New Jersey, one can find much worse on pretty much every MySpace or Facebook site. With the amount of media coverage that this story received for what turned out to be extremely benign pictures, one almost starts to wonder whether it was a PR stunt. The cynical and conspiracy theory in me almost looks at this as a PR stunt for ratings. In the end, the “blackmail” pics really don’t amount to much of anything.
The blonde beauty queen claims the images were sent to pageant officials in an effort to force her to give up her crown. “I feel sick to my stomach. I really do,” Amy Polumbo told host Matt Lauer. “You know, they’re not that bad, but they were meant to be private. (MSNBC)
If she loses her crown for these pictures, then no one probably ever need run for these beauty pageants. In an era of the video and voyeurism where nothing is sacred, simple pictures used to embarrass is shameful. There is a thing called … people are allowed to have fun.

What gets me is that now that it is known that the pics are basically nothing, this story is still getting PR.
There are pics from college that are worse than this.
Something just seems very weird.
What a quaint notion these days … blackmailing someone. It’s a concept that one would think went out with the Victorian age. I didn’t think any holds were still barred, so to speak. I guess the ‘squeaky clean’ stuff of the Miss America pageantry must still apply somewhat.
Sounds to me like a tailor-made plot idea for the soap opera world.
Richard – please! This is no PR stunt. Give me a break. She’s never changed her story and has been credible and sincere in every inteview I’ve seen her in. She’s not blame. The sorry no-life loser who sent these packages is to blame. Those pictures are completely normal and not over the top, now the pics from the Ms. Las Vegas (Nevada) were (although I liked them) over the top for a paegent beauty queen representing a city or state.
Yep I agree. This was a ploy set forth by her and her family for PR. How embarrassed is she going to be when the truth is find out? Lol. Like Shep Smith said… more saw her bs on the news than ever in a contest. Hilarious.
Yeah, I’m sure she planned this all out. You people that believe this is a PR stunt probably still think the Easter Bunny stole Christmas.

I grew up with Amy. I know her personally. She did NOT do this for PR. She is one of the sweetest people I know and would not pull something like this. She has acting and singing talents and does not deserve any of this.
The truth is….SHE HAD TO HAVE A PRESS CONFERENCE because she was not getting any support whatsoever from the Miss New Jersey Organization. They wanted her out in the dust with nothing and no chance to explain herself.
And the photos may not be that bad to you, but you can’t get much worse from Amy. She is one of the most wholesome girls I know, and now everyone knows her dirt. She is very embarrassed by all of it.
