Aruba Travel Authority has found the one country that they believe has not heard of Natalee Holloway. Watch this move change the face of Aruban tourism forever. It is truly an amazing tourism philosophy they seem to have in Aruba. Don’t fix the obvious that will cure the ills of their tourism issues, but instead market to a mass number of people like China and hope they don’t care or don’t know.
Aruba cherishes those “nouveau riche” that are fond of traveling, and of course ignoring those human rights issues in China. After all, what’s more important, tourism or human rights?
The young nouveau riche of China is very fond of traveling and the market is very large. The delegation will also talk to tour operators and travel agents.
Aruba, the Chinese are also found of their safety on vacation and making it back to Beijing alive.

ORANJESTAD – The most important objectives of an Aruban trade delegation that went to Beijing this week is the attraction of tourists and the establishment of an international commercial center with high-quality Chinese products, here in Aruba .
Prime Minister Nelson Oduber, Minister Nilo Swaen of Economic Affairs and Finance, and Agustin Vrolijk, director of Foreign Relations Administration are part of the delegation. Other members of the delegation are: Myrna Jansen, director of Aruba Tourism Authority, Peter Steinmetz of Aruba Airport Authority, Alfonso Boekhoudt of Aruba Ports Authority, Greg Peterson of Free Zone Aruba, Frendsel Giel of Aruba Investment Bank, Rien Schoon of Aruba Stevedoring Company, Gideon Blaauw of Ernst & Young and businessman René Kan.
The delegation stays in Beijing for one week. They will talk to the Chinese aviation authorities. The young nouveau riche of China is very fond of traveling and the market is very large. The delegation will also talk to tour operators and travel agents.
Vrolijk says that China is interested in establishing a commercial center in Aruba for the region and for South-America. Up till now, Dubai is the only country that has such commercial center. Aruba would love to welcome such commercial center especially in the Free Zone. Aruba is thinking of high-quality high-tech products.
The delegation will talk with harbour authorities in Shanghai about ocean transportation. The programme is put together by the Chinese trade delegation that was in Aruba for orientation conversations a few months ago.
The delegation will also visit an elementary school. A large number of elementary schools are going to represent the participating countries in the Olympic Games in Beijing . To participate, the schools need to have sufficient information about the countries in question. The delegation returns to Aruba via Amsterdam on Sunday, June 24th. The group will arrive in Aruba on Tuesday morning.

Hmmmm this move has me scratching my head. What makes Aruba Tourism think that the Chinese would pass on such places as Fiji, Marshall Islands,and Bali as island getaways to travel all the way to Aruba? Checking Travelocity flights from Shanghai,China all make 2 stops,travel time 33hours and costs range $1600. and up. WTF?

Why would the ‘nouvo-riche’ of China waste their time travelling to a lame ass Caribbean Island known for kidnapping, drugging, raping, and murdering tourists?
The Chinese can jump a 3-5 hour flight to dozens of absolutely gorgeous and unspoiled islands. What would be the attraction of flying 12 hours to look at an oil refinery and to spend most of your time panicked that your children could be kidnapped and raped by the Dutch elite —- or even assaulted by chollers.
This is what happens when a country is absolutely desperate financially and morally. We have seen Croes denounce the Netherlands. Now we see government leaders of a tiny speck of coral in the Caribbean thinking they are ‘players’ by talking to some low level Chinese officials.
Me thinks this is all a ploy. The Arubans are exhausted by the effectiveness of the travel boycott to their country. They want American politicians to back off of their positions….or else they will bring China and Hugo into Aruba and change the current corrupt dynamic going on down there. Our politicians don’t want that….so they will give Aruba money (because the Netherlands won’t any more!) to keep Hugo and the Chinese out of there. Great way to make up for the severe loss in tourist $$$. Plus, the money, rather than go to the people of Aruba, can go into the pockets of the corrupt MEP party!

Thinking of importing and and exporting. Aruba has a free zone with 3 large docks on Aruba. RWB probably had an account set up their because of the motorcycles. You can lease and rent buildings, office space, etc. I read an article on him today that said many think he is the missing link in the Natalee disappearance. Thank you Pearl, thats sweet of you. This is about human rights and some morals and having the decency to give Natalee’s remains back to her family. Aruban’s haven’t taught their children any of those things. It appears they are taught that Americans think they are better than them and to stick it to em whenever you get the chance. That is how they justify to themselves that it is okay to abuse the tourist girls and rob & steal from all the tourists.
Unless you’re a psycho like Jipshit and Papa Sweat, one must villify their targetted victim.
I think that the Chinese are somewhat more clever with Arubans (which isn’t saying much). Any dealings with Aruba will be on THEIR terms.
Possibly Aruba is seeking new funding (“Hey, our tourism is doing GREAT! Come and invest!”) and is hoping to sucker the Chinese. My guess is … the Chinese would skin them alive if they are interested in doing business.
Brie (#37) … there would be two ways to get Natalee off the island, by boat or by air. Few people have thought about the latter, but there is a case in Canada, which I think dates back to the 1970s. I’m just not sure, nor do I remember the name … but I could find it if you wanted.
Anyway, a rich Muslim family from, I think, Algeria was incensed that one of their daughters had left home, moved to Canada, and broken out of the stifling cultural mode that she was raised in.
So members of the family, including her parents, went to visit her in Canada. They somehow drugged her, took her to the airport, put her on their private plane and flew her back home. As simple as that.
I’m sure that some private planes at the Aruban airport are owned by people with, shall we say, interests in illegal enterprises. I doubt that anyone would question them … and private planes must fly to and from the South American continent, and other Caribbean islands, all the time.
I’ve always thought that Natalee might have been held hostage for some days on the island, or on a boat. As long as she was kept quiet, that would be a safe place for the perpetrators … you don’t have too many people dropping in on private boats unannounced.
And I imagine there are so many boats in and around Aruba, nobody is going to be looking at them suspiciously, whether a new yacht or an old fishing scow.
As I’ve said before, it’s possible to keep someone “asleep” with periodic injections of heroin. I wouldn’t have the faintest idea how to do it … but it’s been done. There was a case up here in Vermont. This is the sort of thing that a drug dealer would probably know full well how to do.
But of course, it’s just too far-fetched to think of someone being seized from daily life and held captive, right? This sort of thing doesn’t happen in real life….

John Jamelske is accused of kidnapping women and holding them in an underground bunker.
SYRACUSE, New York (CNN) — Authorities Monday appealed for information as they build their case against a retired handyman charged with holding a teenage girl captive for seven months in an underground bunker and sexually abusing her.
John Jamelske was charged April 9 with kidnapping, rape, sodomy and sexual abuse, all stemming from incidents involving the 16-year-old, but other girls and women have come forward with similar accusations, Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh said.
In at least two other cases, Jamelske allegedly kidnapped and abused two teenagers — one of those he held for A YEAR and the other for almost TWO YEARS.
Other suspected victims include a woman in her mid-50s who alleged that Jamelske “raped and tortured (her) in his dungeon — her phrase — and that occurred about five years ago,” Walsh said.
The woman said that after Jamelske kidnapped her, she was bound, gagged, blindfolded and driven to an underground bunker where she remained for nearly 10 months, he said.
During the first three months, the woman said, she was chained to a heavy metal grate and sexually abused every day before he released her, Walsh added.
“We believe that there may be other victims out there,” the sheriff said. “We also believe Jamelske may have attempted to lure others and failed.”
No other charges have been filed against Jamelske yet, Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said.
Walsh addressed questions that have been raised as to why the 16-year-old did not attempt to escape on occasions when the suspect took her to public places. He quoted one of the older victims, saying she said that she “did everything that he asked, hoping he would release me,” and made compliant by fear.
“I would only cry when he was not around — I did not want him to hit me,” she reportedly told police. “I did not want to die down in those rooms because no one would ever find my body.”
If he inspired that much fear in a grown woman, Walsh said, he couldn’t imagine the fear that the teenagers must have felt.

Here’s another story of possible relevance, and again in the U.S. A family knew that a woman was being held hostage, and did nothing about it because they were afraid that the perpetrator would turn on them.
I remember reading about a similar case in Japan.
We all think some people on Aruba know more than they are saying. I’m not saying this has anything to do with Natalee, but believe we cannot write out any option.
And remember, to Arubans Natalee was just another tourist.
An outsider; one of those “dominant rich Americans.” How many of them would be willing to take chances for her?

William Thomas Parrish III’s family knew he was holding a woman captive in his grandfather’s Finksburg home. But no one told police for fear Parrish, 25, would make good on his threat to hurt 72-year-old Lawrence Thompson if the woman tried to escape.
“He threatened to harm his [grandfather,]” said one of his family members, who wished not to be identified before court proceedings. “She stayed there as long as she did to protect him. She was brave for him. We knew she was being physically abused, but [Parrish] wouldn’t let us take her. He wouldn’t let her out of his sight.”
Parrish forced the woman, with whom he had a social relationship, to stay at his Thompson’s house in the 2100 block of Bethel Road from Feb. 20 to March 30, according to charging documents.
During her captivity, Parrish tattooed his name on her skin, gagged her with socks, burned and raped her, the documents show.
She told police Parrish threatened harm to her children and “other family members,” presumably Thompson, if she didn’t submit.
The woman also said Parrish beat her face, arms, legs, back and chest area with his fists and struck her in the head with a large glass bottle.
“We could see the marks and bruises on her body on her face,” the family member said.
She escaped Friday at around 9:00 p.m., while out in Westminster with Parrish, the family member said.
“He left her for a minute or two and she ran off to a stranger’s house and they, in turn, helped her call the police,” the family member said.
State police arrested Parrish Saturday morning and charged him with false imprisonment, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and three counts of malicious destruction of property, said David P. Daggett, Carroll County deputy state’s attorney.
Parrish was denied bail Monday in district court.
The family said Parrish had been staying with Thompson, who has a pacemaker and a heart condition, since his wife died about two months ago.
“It was only supposed to be for a few days,” but in the fog after the funeral, Parrish’s extended stay wasn’t a point of serious concern until his family found out he was holding a woman at the house against her will.
“We are supporting the girl,” the family member said.
Parrish is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center. A court date has not been set.
Finally, in case anyone is wondering … I’m not suggesting that Natalee Holloway is at this moment imprisoned in some underground bunker on Aruba.
What I am trying to say, and the reason for posting these horrific stories, is that sometimes the simplest, the most logical, and the most likely explanation for things … is not the truth.
I don’t pretend to have the answers in Natalee’s case. But on the one hand we had, less than two weeks after Natalee vanished, Aruban officials huffing and puffing and telling us that she’s dead, no doubt that she’s dead, we know that she’s dead, we’ve seen the evidence and yep, she’s dead.
Despite all of these assertions, no crime scene has been produced, no body has been found, no traces of Natalee have been found and none of the teen suspects have cracked (as far as we know).
Obivously they are involved. Equally obvious, it seems to me and to many others, is that more people know things they aren’t saying. How many more? That’s the question….
If Natalee were taken off Aruba, or were held captive by people who planned to take her off Aruba, it doesn’t necessarily follow that she would still be alive.
My having worked with the family of Amy Bradley, and the stuff that we have unearthed, convinces me that she COULD still be alive and, like Amy, is doing what she has to do to stay alive. Read the story above about the woman who was imprisoned in that underground dungeon, who cooperated (in her own country, in her own area) because she thought that gave her the best chance of survival.
Think of a teen girl put in a foreign environment, held among people who regard her as trash to be used and abused.
Let’s hope that we find out someday. If Tim Miller and his people find Natalee’s body where they think it is, then obviously this idea is way wrong.

Well, I guess it’s like this. I’m trying to read everything that pertains to Natalee and her disappearance but until there is a body, which no one seems to be able to produce, but wants to convince us she is dead, I will still believe that maybe she is still alive. And I hope she is. And I hope we find her.(They obviously want us to stop looking) If so, I’m sure there will be many problems and obstacles to overcome. However, with all the love shown for Natalee we could help her get thru it all and hopefully help her to fulfill her dreams. She is still young and has her whole life ahead of her.
But this doesn’t mean I still discount the thought that she might be dead. We’ve been lead to believe so many things that have turned out to be false. Such as, she is dead I have seen the evidence. Then why do not produce the body. How can you make a statement like that and not return Natalee to her family. I’m surprised you haven’t driven Beth, Dave and Jug and their families to complete insanity. The human torture from many of those,corrupt and evil, shall meet their maker. And it could result in their current lifetime.
I also think, Joran was hanging around the Holiday Inn and watching Natalee and her friends, he had plenty of time to come up with a plan. He also could of learned in advance what they were planning to do on certain days. Why was he at the pool at the Holiday Inn, he wasn’t a guest there, or was he. Joran did tell her friends he was an exchange student and staying at the Holiday Inn.
He states he “Hit the Jackpot”.
Apparently, he has hit on alot of people for alibi’s and lies. His actions and display of destruction on the island and his violent temper, there is nothing wholesome about him. I think he is capable of anything.
He is guilty and he had help, anyway you look at it. I understand it was a fisherman’s cage missing, someone with a boat and access to scuba driving equipment and familiar with what lies underwater could of taken her down.
It seems like the pimp gang have all gone in different directions. Hang around with Joran and you will regret it for the rest of your life.
It makes me ill to think that Paulus won his lawsuit for being detained. The investigation was not thorough, otherwise, those pounding questions would of answered.
The two black security guards, innocent of anything, deserve some type of compensation, payable via Paulus. If they couldn’t afford a lawyer, isn’t their a public defender. I guess we chalk that up to discrimination.
Brie, isn’t it interesting that if van der Straaten has seen any evidence of Natalee’s being dead … as he said he has … none of it has been produced. And none of it has led to prosecution against anyone. And what that evidence can be without a body is up in the air … but none of us has seen a body either.
You’re right: it seems to me that the Dutch in charge of Aruba were desperately trying to make everyone believe that Natalee was dead. End of discussion. She was dead.
Now, this may very well be true. But surely we can accept that it MIGHT not be. I don’t pretend that my wishes or hopes will influence the reality in any way … but if only for the sake of intellectual honesty, let’s keep open minds.

Richard, I agree. Of course, like you said we don’t want to influence any reality in any way. But until I know there is a body and we are certainly trying to find one,if one exists, I believe there is the other possibility. It’s every big as great as Natalee being dead.

Mary Ann this article wasn’t so much complaining about Chinese being in Aruba or going to Aruba but about this.
. Don’t fix the obvious that will cure the ills of their tourism issues, but instead market to a mass number of people like China and hope they don’t care or don’t know.
I can guarantee if any family, from China or wherever was put through what Natalee and her family have been put through, simply because they want their daughter back, they too will not go gently into that good night, if they are any kind of parent at all.
