Saturday morning the investigation of the Dutch forensic experts continued. Early in the morning the team started to set up their tents and other equipment to continue their work. We have noticed that there are not as many officials present as yesterday’s search.

Unofficially we have received the information that part of the team will investigate in other areas of the island.

UPDATE I: Diario translation from todays news article on Van der Sloot search

The Ministry of Justice:

A TEAM OF COMBINED DETECTIVES ARE DOING AN INVESTIGATINO OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY

ORANJESTAD (AAN) According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Justice and sent to the news media yesterday, the 27th of April 2007, a search took place at the house of the parents of Joran Van der Sloot. The search was carried out under the guidance of a Judge of Instructions. There are around 20 experts in the field of forensic investigation (e.o. of the Netherlands Forensic Institute) that are carrying out the search. This has nothing to do with the book that Joran Van der Sloot recently put on the market, but fits into the investigation that is going on and was planned for some time.

On the 15th of April 2007, a new phase has begun into the investigation of the young person that disappeared. Additional investigations are taking place and are being executed by a new team of detectives that was formed. The team consists of  local detectives and detectives from Holland that are working under the guidance of the Ministry of Justice.

After the Minister of Justice of Aruba in August 2006 requested the Dutch Ministry of Justice for technical assistance in this case, the Korps Landelijke Politiebureau (KLPD) from Holland formed a team of Dutch detectives that in November 2006 began with a revision by the detectives of Holland. This revision means that the team has revised the whole file of the Holloway case and on this basis came to conclusions and suggestions.

The conclusion and suggestions were presented in March 2007 by the Chief of KLPD. Based on this conclusion and suggestions, additional investigation is taking place. The objective of this additional investigation is to find clarity in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, the young American girl that has disappeared since the 30th of May 2005 in Aruba.

Natalee Holloway (18 years of age, from Alabama, the U.S.A.), disappeared on the 30th of May 2005, when she was on vacation in Aruba with a number of other students. Holloway was last seen at 1 o’clock on the 30th of May 2005, after she left the bar Carlos ‘n Charlie’s. According to declarations of witnesses, Holloway was in the company of 3 male persons.

From the moment that the disappearance of Holloway was denounced, the Police Crops of Aruba began an investigation, where various suspects were arrested and interrogated, and where a great number of witnesses were heard. Some of those that were arrested as suspects are still considered as such, according to the press release of the Ministry of Justice. (Hat Tip: Diario & Jossy Mansur)

Joran Van der Sloot Residence Searched … “On the Record” … Natalee Holloway Investigation

Just when Joran Van der Sloot thought it was safe to go back in the water, the Natalee Holloway investigation continues. This time its the search of the Van der Sloot residence that should have been done on June 1, 2005. Its has been mentioned in the past to “not get too comfortable” and that “We Know What you Did Last Summer.”

Interview with Jossy Mansur & Vivian Van der Briezen

No, not the house itself or the property but they did search Joran’s apartment which is on the premises but not attached to the house itself. From there they took many black bags with them plastic bags with a lot of material which they sent to Holland.

Interview with Joe Tacopina

The first time the van der Sloot residence was searched, it wasn’t searched thoroughly, it wasn’t search completely because the warrant that was executed at the time, limited them to certain parts of the house and property. This warrant does not do that, it’s letting them excavate, dig and do all these things.
(Attorney Tacopina may want to look back at the facts that the search warrant was changed at the scene by certain individuals.)

Of course it drives me crazy, certainly with the evidence they had that we just knew almost 2 years ago, it seemed to be enough to get a search warrant for the complete premises but we have to look at this too: Paul could have said of course you can search everything, I have nothing to hide, my son is innocent, I’m innocent and we welcome you to do this.

Van Der Sloot’s Yard Being Searched By Dutch Authorities

Breaking, as we get more information we will get it to you. Joran poolside

The Aruban prosecutors’ office said Dutch police who traveled to Aruba to investigate the disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway searched the yard of a one-time suspect on Friday.
Using thin metal rods and shovels, police and forensic
investigators churned up the earth outside the home of Joran van
der Sloot, the last person known to have seen Holloway alive before
she vanished in May 2005 during a school vacation on the Dutch
Caribbean island.
Vivian van der Biezen, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s
office, told reporters gathered outside the home that the
investigation has never stopped, and Dutch authorities are
reviewing the case for new clues.
She said roughly 20 investigators arrived from Holland on June
16th, but that she could not say why they were searching the
property. She did not know how long they planned to stay.
The prosecutors’ office said in a statement that, “the team has
indications that justify a more thorough search.” It did not
provide further details. via MyFox Birmingham

UPDATE II: Comments from Jossy Mansur

Now we know that they are there for a thorough search of the house and surroundings. They have set up tents, which means they will be there for quite a while. They also have dogs and technical equipment. It seems they mean business. This is a combined effort by a batallion of Dutch and Aruban investigators. (Jossy Mansur)

UPDATE III: Dutch Police Dig for Clues in Natalee Holloway Case at Suspect Joran van der Sloot’s Home

“The investigation has never stopped and the Dutch authorities are completely reviewing the case for new indications,” Vivian van der Biezen, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office, told reporters gathered outside the home. (FOX)

Joran Van der Sloot … Still a Suspect in Disappearance of Natalee Holloway … Investigation Continues

Joran Van der Sloot … Not so fast …

If Joran Van der Sloot thought that things would change upon the two year anniversary of Natalee Holloway 2Natalee Holloway going missing in Aruba, he thought wrong. According to Dutch authorities, the investigation will continue and Joran Van der Sloot is the main suspect.

Many have been wondering what the status was of the Natalee Holloway investigation and whether anything was being done at all. Sources have told us that there has been action in the case and much is being done behind the scenes out of the media’s eye. The fact that Joran Van der Sloot picked this moment in time to release his “tale or lies” may prove to be his undoing. According to all accounts the investigation into the disappearance of Natalee Holloway will be prolonged to an indefinite date, Dutch investigators have found new leads and Joran Van der Sloot remains the main suspect. We had an opportunity to talk to Jossy Mansur who stated the following:

Yes. The case is to remain open and Joran’s two years as a suspect has been prolonged to an indefinite date.

I haven’t heard of more details, only that the Dutch have found new leads or clues that warrant the case to remain an active one.

There are many Dutch investigators now on the island for the case of Holloway and also the bribery case.

The Dutch team has come and is working in secrecy. You don’t hear a sound from them. We have been very busy with the bribery case, but are now back full speed on the Holloway case.

I remember that the Dutch team stated at one point they will work only with the anti-narcotics officers in Aruba, because they are more secretive.

Aruba 3 suspects

If Joran Van der Sloot thought that he was out of the fire, he thought wrong, very wrong. As we always state, just because the media does not report on a story does not mean its news nor does it mean that there is no activity. The MSM will predictable make their rounds covering the case when the two year anniversary roles around of Natalee’s disappearance; however, the case and investigation go forward … Justice for Natalee.

There Might Be a Good Reason You Can Not Sleep At Night

Night_owlI have always wondered if there was something wrong with me, besides the obvious… I go through stages where I want to go to sleep earlier in the day, then times where I can easily stay up all night. Now a study shows that there is a gene in some people that puts the person on a 27 hour schedule as opposed to the 24 hour schedule that most people live on.

If you click on the link at the end to the story, read some of the comments. They echo many of the issues that I face and it is nice to see others facing a constantly changing schedule.

The altered gene, named “after hours” or Afh, is a variant of a gene called Fbxl3, which had not been linked to the body clock that keeps our metabolism, digestion and sleep patterns in tune with the rising and setting of the sun.
The discovery involved scientists from the Medical Research Council Mammalian Genetics Unit, Oxfordshire, the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Biology, Cambridge, and colleagues based at New York University.
Pharmaceutical companies are already beginning to study this class of proteins as potential drug targets.
By monitoring when and how often the mice chose to run on an exercise wheel the team spotted a change in some of the animals’ normal rhythms.
Instead of following the typical 24 hour pattern, some of the mice had body clocks that stretched to up to a 27 hour day.
Closer study of the DNA from the mice then revealed that those on a 27-hour-cycle had the after hours version of the Fbxl3 gene, one of a large family that controls the breakdown of specific proteins within body cells. via the Telegraph
