ORANJESTAD/AMSTERDAM – In the book ‘The Case of Natalee Holloway’ that was published today in the Netherlands , Joran van der Sloot admits that he has probably committed the biggest mistake of his life by leaving the American girl on the beach by herself.
He has also lied about that night on the beach to the police and realizes that due to his falsehood, he has lost his credibility. He knows that he is still the main suspect in the case and understood that the OM in Aruba will soon, maybe next month already decide whether they will proceed to prosecution. Neither the Dutch- and Aruban police, nor the FBI has found a clue on the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. There is still an active team of Dutch police on the island. The book has 351 pages and is written by and for journalist Zvezdana Vukojevic, who works for Nieuwe Revu. She has spent some time in Aruba with Joran van der Sloot to visit all the locations that are of importance. Joran van der Sloot told her about his life before he met Natalee, his time in prison and the police interrogations.
Two years ago, well into the night on May 30th, the then 18-year old American Natalee Holloway disappeared in Aruba after having been on the beach with the then 17-year old Joran van der Sloot. At first he told the police that he had dropped Natalee off at her hotel, while actually, he had left her behind on the beach. This lie caused him to spend three months behind bars.
MAKING LOVE
In the book, he tells about Natalee’s drinking behaviour and gives details about them making love on the beach, which lasted for three hours. He, together with his friends Deepak and Satish Kalpoe met Natalee and the other American students with whom Natalee was visiting the island, in the Excelsior Casino of the Holiday Inn-hotel. Natalee wanted to go with the boys. And even though he had an exam the next day, he had himself and Natalee dropped off at the beach. “She wanted more, but I had no condoms with me. She then fell asleep.” He admits that he didn’t even know her name and had preferred making love to her friend Ruth, who was much prettier.
EXCUSES
Van der Sloot also mentioned possibilities that have not been investigated yet, like a declaration about Natalee’s stepfather and the unknown male DNA found on Natalee’s toothbrush. He talked straightforwardly about his own behaviour and apologizes to the parents of Natalee for his lying declarations. Especially during the first days of his detention, he lied about almost everything. He also admits that he has made mistakes. He says that he will have to learn to live with the mistake he made by leaving Natalee alone on the beach for the rest of his life. He has trouble with that.

At the Publisher’s Luitingh-Sijthoff in Amsterdam yesterday, he told many journalists before the camera that with the book, he wants to give his view on the Holloway-case, because after all the publicity this case has produced, it looks like everybody knows everything but the truth about Joran and Natalee. Zvezdana Vukojevic wrote the book based on interviews with Joran van der Sloot. She also used notes in Joran’s diary and she was allowed access to the police files. In July of last year, Sijthoff received via literary agent Paul Sebes the exclusive Dutch rights for the book.

I hope the people in Aruba are reading in The Telegraph the negative comments the Dutch have for Joran’s TV appearances. Their response has been described as “hate and anger” and I would like to see the local response to his latest efforts to profit from this tragedy.
He says he no longer cares about the financial impact on Aruba of his actions.
How’s that working out for you, Arubans? Was it worth it to cover up for Joran?

Today it was announced in Holland that the Dutch detective cold case squad have adviced to keep the investigation open. Aruban authorities have complied and have announced that JVDS remains the prime suspect. There is no deadline.

WHO IS ED SMITH
Ed Smith is the person that filmed the Aru-bay Videos that have become part of the Natalee Holloway case.
Some people believe that these videos are very important and others see no correlation to the case. It is still an unsettled area of the case.
Ed Smith also used the name Tony Smith when posting on Web-Sites before Natalee Holloway became a CRIME VICTIM ON ARUBA. I located him on a site that rates the musical talent of bands and he would comment as to what he liked about the playing style. He also claims to be part of a group called the Digital Dub Deciphiles.
So who is he really?

yes it’s true the local and dutch authorities have announced that the case will remain open and will not be closed in 2 weeks like the van der sloot’s wanted it too, and yes a lot of new things on the case will be brought out very soon, the newspaper will publish it one of this day’s.they say the detectives sleep very little,and work long hours.
but let me comment also on the book: Joran said on Dutch tv jes he wrote the book, and that’s a lie (was to be expected right) an writter for the Revu magazine wrote the book, joran didn’t even put one word on paper or typed one and he says he wrote it for therapy, another lie…
and finally one day if he is found guilty as hell, have him send to the U.S. to be procecuted there, because if by Dutch laws he must be sentenced he will only get 20 years max for murder, that’s Dutch law for you.
Is his book available in English. I would buy it just to examine it for any clues that he may have slipped up on and included. Afterward I would return it from where I purchased it claiming that it was defective.

Rotterdam, 26 april. Justice Dep. on Aruba considders Joran vd Sloot still as mainsuspect in de case from the American Natalee Holloway, now that there have been found new cleus about her dissappearence.
Eight Dutch investigators from the KLPD (=Corps National Polices-Services) in the meen time have arrived at Aruba. Reopening of the investigation makes it possible to see VdSloot continuesly as suspect in the case. Aruban law says that a person looses his status as suspect as his case is not presented to the court.
Becaus of the renewed investigation this period can be prolongued, says the Procurements Office on Aruba. Last year the Holloway-file became a socalled “cold case”, a crime not solved, and was transferred to the Dutch KLPD. That presented a rapport last month with conclussions and recommendations that according to the Proc. General on Aruba “justifie” closer investigations. About the contents of the conclusions the Proc. Office doesn’t speak out.

You’re right, I do get emotional. I think everyone that knows what happened in Aruba and the attempt to hide the truth, gets emotional, from time to time… I’m sorry.

The fact that there were ten Dutch investigators sent to Aruba and they called in reinforcements and are re-interviewing witnesses, working both day and night, is more than good, it’s great! The things that happened and the cover-up was executed by more than one or two people, it’s bound to come out sooner or later. It is my opinion that the Dutch are just as sick and tired of the corruption and mayhem that has become almost an everyday occurance in Aruba since the induction of Nelson Oduber and the death of Natalee Ann Holloway… as are the rest of us. Sure there were strings pulled, favors called in and bribery; but those strings don’t wrap around the heart of EVERY man in Aruba, nor in the Netherlands.
No man is ABOVE the law and the decision to hide the death of Natalee Holloway and the refusal to return her to her family is more than a criminal, it is pure evil. Nelson Oduber and his crew of Ministers have been doing all they can to keep a strangle-hold on the people of Aruba to keep thier secrets from coming out. I still maintain my trust and belief in the human spirit that rises above nationalism to a simpler level of human-kindness and compassion. And the latest developments in the case of Natalee Ann Holloway confirms that my hopes and dreams are not in vain.
There will be justice in Aruba and, until then, we will do everything possible to put pressure on the government of Aruba, as well as their closely held ATA, to assure that any one visiting that island can rest assured that there are LAW-ABIDING officials there to protect them.

I am not counting on the Dutch. We have seen this all before. Joran’s book 30 days before the case goes ‘cold’ was done to stitch up the loose ends to the case.
HERE IS THE MAJOR loose end:
To my knowledge, there is no timeline established for Paulus Van Der Sloot on the evening of Natalee’s kidnapping, drugging, rape, and murder. We recently saw that the Aruban courts placed Paulus ‘out on the town’ at 4 am where Paulus has stated he was in at 11 for the night. There are five hours here that are screwed up.
In the meantime, Joran has previously stated that he was only with Natalee Holloway for an hour. Now in the book, he is having a lovemaking session for three hours. So, before it was Joran walked home after an hour and was on his computer at 3:30am….then Satish gave him a ride…or maybe Deepak…..
Ya see, the courts found as a fact that Paulus was out at 4am in denying him more $$$ for ‘false arrest’ (ha ha).
It becomes pretty apparent to me….Joran carries Natalee over to Paulus’ home as after a night of sexual abuse and druggings she is not responding. Paulus frantically gets on the computer at 3:30am to figure out what can be done with an overdose of the date rape drug of choice…and also probably looked up attorneys for each of the boys as they would need to hire out virtually all of the attorneys on the island so that every attorney is conflicted to help the Holloways…Paulus and Joran head out to get rid of the body down by the fisherman’s huts (where, of course, Joran would say that is where he left her last). They make their ATM run to payoff some people for assistance…and return to the compound.
Paulus is your perp. He has no timeline for the night up until that time…and could have very well participated in the rape (or at least done the filming as the old coot probably couldn’t get it up). Paulus seems to be more concerned about being Joran’s buddy, than a father.
Aruba brazenly did everything to try to distance Paulus from this case. Joran’s book is an attempt to change that timeline to three hours….because under a three hour lovemaking session….Paulus won’t be scrutinized and hopefully people will continue to look the other way.

I believe Paulus knows.. After his statement on Nova where he said Joran was AGAIN home without him knowing it , the night Beth arrived. In Paulus’s police statement, he said Joran told him he was going to the Wyndham that night and he ok’d it… contradicting his Nova statement. That’s why I believe he knew Joran wasn’t home the night Natalee disappeared and Joran didn’t sneak out.
Jaime claims Joran called him between 4pm and 7pm to ask if if he wanted to go out to Carlos n Charlies to meet some MB girls..however Joran says he made up his mind to go at 9 or 10.. No way do I believe these 3 planned for almost 4 hours or more to go out to meet girls and forgot condoms as an excuse to leave someone on the beach. Hotels weren’t that far away, could more than likely get a condom there, if that were the case. None of those couples have come forward and 3 fisherman on the beach saw them there. Witness Statement – June 17, 2005
On May 29th 2005, between the hours of 16.00 and 19.00 (4:00 pm – 7:00 pm), I was called by Joran on my mobile phone with the phone number. Joran had asked me whether I wanted to go out with him that night. He told me that a few American girls would go to “Carlos & Charlies” and whether I wanted to meet up with him there.
Exactly… but that doesn’t mean that Natalee died of an overdose. Maybe he was looking at the effects of drugs and alcohol to make it look like she was suffering from the effects of a self-induced drug reaction. We all know who was in charge of his son’s defense. Everything that was said about the car ride back to her hotel, which we know didn’t happen, was nothing more than an attempt to make the victim look guilty of causing her own disappearance through her drinking, drugging and sexual promiscuity.
After all the lies were revealed about the hotel drop-off, Joran is still keeping that image of Natalee alive. Basically, saying that he left a drugged drunk, who was hot-to-trot and begged him to stay with her, on the beach. Leaving those who are stupid enough to believe his lies that if someone else came along, she would have seeked out his attention, too. All of those lies are nothing more than a character assassination of an innocent girl that doesn’t do drugs and would have fought off any sexual advance.

I have tried and tried to believe the scenerio of Natalee dying of an overdose at the house of the Van der Sloots and I have a real hard time doing that. If she died there, or was killed there; what is all that blood doing on the rocks?

Question: Given that we hear so much about the independence of Aruba and its legal system from the Netherlands, is it possible (if only theoretically) that Aruba can refuse to obey the Dutch recommendation that the case be kept open?
This is something I’ve always wondered. Does Aruba have to obey the Dutch? What if the attorney general, or whoever, says “Sorry, but we don’t have any new info. It’s being closed.” What then?
It’s hard to imagine that this arrogant book comes out just as the Dutch investigative team is in Aruba. One wonders if the timing is coincidental. Maybe the Dutch have decided that something needs to be done? We’ll see.
Another thought on my mind: Joran seems to have said that he doesn’t think Natalee is on Aruba, dead or alive. I know it’s not the prevailing view … I’m just wondering if this is his way of giving the (metaphorical) knife an extra twist. In other words, he’s saying “Yeah, I know she was taken off the island alive. Go do something about it.”
Just wondering … he seems to be psychopathic enough.
The Miami Herald travel show is this weekend, and the Aruba Tourism Authority has a booth. (Apparently it’s a smaller one than they had in Boston.)
We will not abandon our efforts to dissuade people from going to Aruba. No justice for Natalee … no tourists for Aruba.

the maximum for murder under dutch law is natural life although it is unlikely that Joran would even be sentenced to considerably less than 20 years (not my opinion of what he should get but it is an on average statistical fact that for murder one usually gets around 12 years (maybe even 14).
Joran was recently found buried in sand up to his chin. Seems he had been there for days on the beach in Aruba, and no one saw him. The tourism department said thousands of people must have just walked right by him.

Rumors buzzing about activity at the Van Der Sloot’s residence this morning…..
Must be catching Judge Smid and Anita screwing around with each other while Paulus films.
Should make for an interesting day if, in fact, the rumors are true. Perhaps the monkey next door has provided a statement about what he saw on May 30th.
By the way Aruba….and Dutch Investigators….here are a couple little hints while you are seperating Smid and Anita:
1) Search the whole property
2) Especially search Paulus and Anita’s residence
3) Especially search the room with a new mattress that was purchased in the summer of 2005.
4) Search underneath the ground in the area around the bushes where Paulus was hiding from Beth and Greta (murder weapon buried there).
5) Don’t forget to tear up the new cement that was laid down in the backyard.
6) Slap cuffs on Paulus…Smid…and Anita for their various crimes committed including those committed under the ‘color of law’.
7) Bring them down to the pokey and breakout the waterboards (or send them to camp gitmo and we can help).

Joran wants everyone to believe he’s just a little kid making minor mistakes lying. He is cold and calculated and knows exactly what he’s doing in my opinion. We’ve all seen movies about people like this..
When the cops came to talk to Scott the day of Laci disappeared or the day after the entire house was immaculate and he was not even a suspect, but cops found a phone book on the counter turned to Attorneys. Does that sound familiar in Aruba?
I’ve always believed Natalee was drugged, the reason to take her to another bar in the place at closing time. A reason to take her out at closing time to, lots of confusion going on out front with a mass of people. Joran had a VIP card to the bar so I’m sure he has friends who work there.
I dont believe he ever had any intention of take her back to her hotel or going near her hotel where all her friends were at.
2 years is a long time to wait to search the VDS, but it’s better than never. It should’ve been done right at the start instead of searching the security guards homes at daylight.4 days or so after Natalee disappeared. Should’ve taken the cars too instead of giving them time to clean them up like the Kalpoes cleaning their car repeatedly for the 2 or 3 different reasons they gave why. Bleach works wonders cleaning stuff up. I also believe he’s a walking time bomb for anyone who gets in his way and don’t let him have what he wants. Let’s all hope they get them this time. The answers are with all of them. I can’t imagine my son sitting around bragging he’s a pathological liar and lies everyday and people want him to see a psychiatrist but he’s not going to , he don’t want to. All we hear from him and his family is poor us we are the victims. The only people they are victims of is themselves and a son they never took time to correct or teach right from wrong. He grew up to be just like dad. The only person Joran is in love with is himself imo.
Natalee was every parents dream of a daughter and Joran is ever parents nightmare of a date for their daughter.

IMO someone who knows what happened must have talked. There would be no reason for the KLPD to question Paulus or search his property after almost two years.
I don’t believe the denial of a full search of the Van der Sloot residence from the begining would have piqued their interest. Someone talked. Someone who has been flying under the radar that was not involved but knows. My best guess is the guy who wears the Rosary beads.
Carpe: I hope so also. It has been a long haul for the Holloway and Twitty families.
God willing we may have the answers soon.

We’ve all put so much into this. We’ve all prayed for justice and believed that we were doing the right thing as each and every one of us gave of ourselves, in every way that we could. It won’t be long before we know the truth and I don’t mind being wrong, in my perception of things, as long as it means there is justice.

Let’s not ever forget Natalee and the injustice in Aruba. Sadly the anniversary is approaching. Two years and we know no more now than we knew in 2005. Sadly, nobody has been held accountable for her disappearance. Joran goes on with his life, Natalee’s family still wondering what happened to her and want justice as do I!!!

Carpe, when all this is over and the whole Sloot and Kalpoe bunch are behind bars, I would very much like to meet and shake your hand. You have continued to keep all of us informed while giving us soooooo much to smile about during the past 2 years. I touched on this before, but I’ll say it again. Perhaps we all can meet one day and have a huge gettogether celebrating the final downfall of the perps. Vegas sounds so good. In the meantime I will stay glued to see if any more substaniated news is coming out of devil’s island. I pray that there is some truth to it this time.:-)

After nearly 2 years of the dissapearance of Natalee Holloway, today in a breaking news we have information that members of the Aruba’s police department and KLKP from the Netherlands are searching the house of prime suspect Joran Van Der Sloot in the district of Noord. A search effort was already made in the first weeks of this case nearly two years ago, however as many have said an entire search of the property was never done. Today, accompanied by the Arubian authorities the members of KLKP are doing a search of the home of Paul Van Der Sloot (father of Joran Van Der Sloot). We from Aruba-Zone.com will be keeping you posted on any info that we might receive.
Information indicates that Paul Van Der Sloot has not been arrested, but is being held for questioning by authorities.
New information indicates that the KLPD is searching the garden of the Van Der Sloot residence, they have even moved a whole “kukwisa” tree from it’s place. That is the work going on outside. From what is going on within the home there’s not much information, everything indicates that the authorities are there to stay for a while. Keep posted, as we get more information we will post them on our website.

As far as dutch news reports go, I can’t seem to find anything on NOS’s site, neither GEENSTIJL, ANP, RTL or SBS seem to have picked up on the story for their websites. But it’s already late here. We’re 6 hours ahead of Aruban time, so I think maybe tomorrow there’ll be more news out.
Found an NRC article but it’s from april 26th 2007.
I’m tired and sleepy so this rough translation will hopefully be readable and probably old news to you all.
Basically says 8 detectives have arrived on the island and that joran is still prime suspect. Reopening if the makes it possible to keep considering JDVS as a suspect since according to Aruban law a person loses the status of suspect after a period of 2 years have passed since the start of the investigation without it being presented in court.
Because of the new investigation, that period can be prolonged. Last year the Holloway-dossier was transfered to the KLPD as a ”Cold Case”. Last month the KLPD brought out a report with conclusions and recommendations which according to the PG in Aruba ”justify further investigation”. The OM doesn’t want to comment on the content of the report.

Whatever happens with this search, the Miami Herald travel show protest is still being held this weekend. No relenting on Aruba until we get evidence, trials, confessions, convictions and sentences.
The jackhammers are there, but I wonder if they will be used or if that’s contingent on the dogs coming up with something. The Dutch are citing new evidence, and there must be something that justified them getting the search warrant. But is it a false lead, a phony tip, or just an attempt to dot all the ‘i’s and cross all the ‘t’s?
No way to know right now. But what a letdown, a total letdown, it will be if they don’t come up with something.

what was said in the show was that there are about 20 forensics searching the van der sloot residence. The father was questioned and there is no comment on what if anything was found.
the images show ground penetrating radars. Alot of other equipment. the reporter’s question wether or not joran was informed was not answered.

My experience with the KLPD-method is that they work quite silently and don’t react much on what is in the media on a case they are working on. I guess they have found some new smaller or bigger facts – don’t know – and they have good reasons to act now. They normaly don’t do things just for the “show”. They’re quite serious…
Greta is interviewing Jossy now on FNC.
Jossy said the search is over for the day and there have been no arrests. Also, that the forensic team is not just there on a whim. He seems to think they have a specific reason for being there.

The most cruel joke Joran played was publishing this book in Dutch making his poor US lynchmob wait to make a point misrepresentation supposition etc. On TV, presenting his book he was a bit of a snottnosey normal kid with a history. Actually nobody seems to have picked up on the story any further. I think the book will sell maybe 15000 and that’s it. And yes he’s doing fine in College I hear from a neighbour who has a kid studying there.

it’s a shame… it’s a terrible shame… shame that because of a DUTCH man and two SURINAMESE men caused such a terrible blow to a small island in the caribbean. Now, reading through some of these comments (I’m not gonna waste my time reading them all) I find it… well… awkward that most of you are lashing out at the aruban community, when it is obvious that these 3 gentlemen aren’t even locals! But I digress…
there are several unanswered questions which still linger to this day, like: what is fact? what is fiction? where’s natalee? Why boycott Aruba? (and if so, why not boycott Korea after the whole Virginia tech incident? or boycott Mexicans for speaking spanish? or maybe Jews for… being jews!)
Investigations have come up empty! If Aruba is “corrupt” (according to most of you), then what about the dutch and/or american law enforcements that have done a thourough investigation on the island? They’ve come out – dare I say – empty handed! Either this individual DUTCH man is an extremely clever person OR there is more to this case than what the media has portrayed it to be, i.e. a simple girl-gone-missing case where Joran (a dutch immigrant… I can’t emphasize this enough) is the culprit. I linger more on the latter, which seems more likely to me!
In conclusion (being less witty and scholarly): stop complaining! Learn dutch, read his childish book (unfortunately I have). Put every single fact on the table (not JUST the ones you want, being more suitable to your opinion) and finally: STOP believing every single nonsense the media is feeding you (you’ll end up as paranoic as New yorkers after 9/11).

All of the non Aruban born do not have the humble upbringing that was instilled in us. Yes we proudly carry the Dutch passport, and this filt called Joran has brought such shame to his own homeland of Holland along with the two other culprits from Suriname. Aruba was a peaceful island untill people such as this Joran came to live on the island, through his father who got an assignment as a judge. And where is the criticism towards his parents. They are as rotton as he is. Lastly I am a firm believer that crime does not pay. I am sure Arubans pray for the day that I am sure will come that God willing this great tragedy will be solved.
