Four drug traffickers were arrested early Monday morning trying to smuggle cocaine after having swallowed cocaine balls. The brothers T.S.A. and T.S.E. v.d. B. were arrested as well as a pregnant woman who was acting suspicious.
Four passengers were caught with more than 200 ‘cocaine balls’ in heir stomach, which they wanted to take to Amsterdam.
The woman seemed pregnant. They were turned over to the police for further investigation. The woman, who was definitely pregnant, admitted having swallowed cocaine balls.

ORANJESTAD – In the night of Sunday to Monday, custom detectives arrested four passengers that were just about to board the KLM aircraft to Amsterdam. The four were suspected of transporting narcotics inside- or on their body.
The brothers T.S.A. and T.S.E. v.d. B. were arrested and taken to the airport customs office, where they were thoroughly investigated. Their body language revealed that they had something to hide. Both were turned over to the organized crime department of police. The assistant prosecutor said that x-rays showed that the two had actually swallowed cocaine balls.
About the same time, another man and woman were arrested. The woman was acting suspicious during a routine check. Her behavior was nevertheless reason for arresting her and the man that was with her. The woman seemed pregnant. They were turned over to the police for further investigation. The woman, who was definitely pregnant, admitted having swallowed cocaine balls. The total weight of the cocaine was not determined yet, but it was packed up in more than 200 balls.

I suppose these people did not go through normal channels…the big drug people probably did not like someone else cutting in on the action. According to the state department it is OK to ship up to 3 kilos of cocaine into Holland….it is not against the law.
Nothing any of these people in Aruba or Holland do surprizes me anymore. If it isn’t drug related its about offending young children or the handicap with sex!(RAPE) is the word for it I believe. But nobody is obliged to attend, and certainly nobody owes me an explanation for whether they do or don’t. I’m trying to exhort people to attend, because the more who show up, presumably the stronger our impact.
But as I said, nobody here owes me anything, much less an accounting for what they do or don’t do.
We’re planning on offering handouts of info, a banner, and maybe some Natalee buttons, etc. Do we take donations? You bet! Remember, though, this is NOT a “deductible” donation … we’re just a bunch of people, not an organized group.

my point, since you missed it, is that there’s crime everywhere. this site has a lot of great info which i read all the time. the updates on the holloway story are well done and informative. my problem with scaredmonkeys is that the people that run it make an effort to search aruban newspapers and sites for negative articles on a daily basis and link them on this site. it does nothing but create a lynch mob of people who are already angry about the holloway case. aruba isn’t the only country with crime. new york has a high crime rate as well as cover ups and many police brutality reports but i don’t think you people would get together to put an end to it.

You’re right… we probably would not have all come together to boycott New York because of corruption. New York has plenty of its’ own local organizations that do that. Corruption in the U.S. is, usually, met with opposition. But what makes Scared Monkeys unique is that there are people from all over the United States that have come together to support an American family in its’ quest for justice in a foreign land. I think they deserve to be commended. They are heroes.
I probably write about some of the most controvercial things that go on in Aruba, but, I am also the first to admit that this boycott is not against the people of Aruba, but rather against its’ corrupt government. A government that covered over a violent crime against an 18-year old girl, vacationing on their island, in celebration of her high-school graduation. We get many Arubans here that agree with us and understand the reason for our boycott. They, too, wish that their own people would question their government… but, in the case of Aruba, many people fear their government.
The Minister of Justice has warned the people of Aruba that to converse with Americans over the internet shall be treated as an act of treason. Since then, there have been two people that were found hung out of doors to be viewed by the public… people that were employed by a local television station. The Minister of Health has been reported as being arrested with cocaine in Venezuela, for which he paid a $250,000 fine, in cash, before being allowed to return to Aruba. Another minister was accused of raping a young woman, only to harrass the woman and publicly chastise her.
There is alot of corruption in Aruba that is news worthy… but, you’re right; had it not been for the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, many of these things would have gone unreported in the U.S. The corruption in Aruba has existed for many years, undetected. We are just, now, beginning to understand the effects of it in the case of Natalee Ann Holloway; but also, on a grander scale, the way in which it effects its’ own people. Secretly, we pray for them; but we cannot continue to support their government. At this time, we are discouraging any travel to Aruba, as well as the other islands that make up the Dutch Antilles.

The reason we became so interested in crime on Aruba is that the tourism people promoted Aruba as a “low crime” (or even “no crime”) island. Specifically, a travel writer quoted a “travel consultant” who said Aruba had only had one homicide in 20 years … and even from casual observation, we KNEW that was not true.
In setting out to disprove that statement, we learned, among other things, that odd things seem to happen to “crime statistics” on Aruba. So we started looking at the local newspapers for information.
While we can’t possibly keep up with everything that happens, our focus is on violent incidents, and any that involve tourists, on Aruba.
Meanwhile, Aruba has twice and maybe even triple the number of homocides annually, that the U.S. has. (Years 2005 and 2006. And we only started looking in August of 2006.)

As others have commented, things in the U.S. aren’t always perfect, either – and we rant and rave about quite a few of them on various threads at this site.
I don’t know that any of us have ever seen anything to equal the treatment of this case, this victim, and this family, by government authorities and officials.

Wednesday’s search of the van der Sloot home lasted about four hours. Two white-uniformed investigators from Holland carried suitcases into the one-story, yellow-beige home, which includes an attached apartment where the young man lives. They later returned the suitcases to their white, unmarked car.
Investigators also emerged from the house carrying two white plastic garbage bags full of unidentified items. A German Shepherd also sniffed around the property outside the capital, Oranjestad.
Authorities towed a blue sport utility vehicle and a red Jeep away from the house, which is surrounded by a low stone wall and fronted by an expanse of trees and cacti.
“The search is part of the investigation,” said Mariaine Croes, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Caren Janssen.
Croes said both cars belonged to the family, but she did not say why they were taken away.
Janssen, who also went into the house, declined to comment as investigators wrapped up their search at about 4 p.m. Six police officers guarded the entrance to the property.
“We are just looking for evidence at the house but have nothing yet,” police spokesman Edwin Comemencia said during the search.

ORANJESTAD – The police corps committed a blunder in the case of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. According to ex-commissioner Stanley Zaandam, who dedicates attention to the case here and also in his upcoming publication.
According to Zaandam, the nominations – of among others Commissioners Bernardina, Dompig, Hassel and Richardson, along with 34 high-rank 1st class inspectors – which are against the law and hierarchy of the KPA [police corps], have serious consequences for the quality and integrity of work in KPA.
Accoding to Zaandam, none of the high-ranked commissioners has the qualifications nor experience to conduct a judicial investigation.

According to Zaandam, Commissioner Dompig is under the instruction of Minister Rudy Croes, of MEP.
He also states that 20 other policemen were ranked high on a political list. Five others (…) among them Commissioner Hassell, according to Zaandam.
He also claims this is how Commissioner vd Straten was appointed to this case. However, according to Zaandam, this should not be work for a commissioner.
BLUNDER
Zaandam continues talking about the blunder under which the 3 youngsters were questioned, which should have been a simple case, but one that resulted in KPA’s biggest blunder, due to the deceitfulness of JvdS, Satish and Deepak Kalpoe, they remained free another 12 days.
FALSE ARREST
Zaandam keeps on saying in his book, two days after 5/29, the body of Natalee H. may have already been found and Cvp [police commissioner] looked the other way to do a favour for Paul vd Sloot (ex of chief staff of Cabinet PG [prosecutor general] J. Zwinkels). To exculpate the son of Paul, the CvP and fiscal chief prosecutor Karen Jansen made the false arrest of two ex-security guards, Jones and John , called this a ‘tactical maneuver’ , and denied them their freedom for another 10 days.

Most likely since years back, private and public tourism authorities and law enforcement officials had an underlying agreement not to report crimes against tourists because they were detrimental to their image of pure, safe and uncorrupted island paradise. This unwritten law was easy to implement because incidents were so infrequent, that they could report them as missing persons. From 1996 through 2002, they had three disappearances reported. Not bad. An average of one disappearance every 24 months.
When Natalee’s incident occurred, Joran told Paulus about the “accident” and Paulus immediately thought of the island team in charge of “missing” people cases. Paulus had worked a few years back for the prosecutors office, as Antonio Carlo’s subordinate and had learned how Arubian authorities initiated these patriotic techniques, to preserve both, the island’s economic sovereignty and the aspirational image of its criminals, which are portrayed as selective for going after illegal immigrants and locals only, not tourists.
Paulus was not totally frank about the incident. He just called his compadre Edwin -Papito- Commemencia and reported the case. Papito called the “missing” squad and they got rid of Natalee. They assumed this was just going to be one more case where Police authorities give the family of the victim the runaround; they give up and go home to light candles. They weren’t counting on Beth’s obsessive, unrelentless, persistent, annoying character.
The media started coming to Aruba and the news began spreading. What to do … that was the big question. The police, ATA and AHATA met. They agreed that they were going to show the family and the US that they care and are willing to do everything to find their missing daughter. ” Hey”, they said, “Maybe this will be good for us. All these cameras will put our island in the forefront”. The craziness begins and Arubian arrivistes show their faces in front of the spotlight.
When one week later the authorities figured out that the threesome was responsible for the crime and they envisioned the consequences of having an international coverage of the case and the investigation, it’s already too late. They can’t go back and undo what they have done, because the “missing” scheme would be revealed and that would mean the definite end of existence of the thriving Arubian tourism industry. Since then on, the madness and the lies have not stopped.
As Dompig stated in the Vanity Fair interview, they thought they were dealing with a normal family. By that he meant families like those of Richard HenrÃquez, Gary Makings and Willard Larson, all missing in Aruba never to be found.

At the beginning of the investigation Papito Comemencia was very active as police spokesperson. I understand he is the officer that Joran considers his Godfather and uncle, not van der Straaten. He is -or at least was- very close to the van der Sloots.
Dompig was in charge of the interrogations back then. If you recall, he is the one that got the “confession” out of Joran on the 10th or 11th of June 2005, but it could not be admitted because the time duration of the interrogation exceeded the limit allowed for a minor.
A few weeks into the case, both Comemencia and Dompig sort of vanished and all focus turn to Jan van der Straaten. Most likely this was an Arubian strategy to point the finger at the Dutch, and steer the blame away from them.
Some of Comemencia’s key moments include reporting the different and dive searches, reporting beforehand that Paulus would request the court to allow permission to see Joran in jail, informing that nothing was found on the van der Sloot’s property search, telling Beth that blood had been found on the Kalpoe’s car, insinuating that more people were involved and in general, creating confusion and false expectations.
He is supposed to be Papi the Butterfly, the person that Simian/Merian Webster supposedly stated could unravel this whole mess. This is what I recall reading, but I guess an SM T&S lover could confirm this or not.

Comemencia could have bvery well alerted ahead of time about searches, but I don’t know if he did or not. What matters is that he is the one that has the personal relationship with the van der Sloots and not van der Straaten, he is the one that Joran considers his uncle and Godfather, he is the one that was very present until they passed the ball to the Chief of Police, and he is the one that distorted information to confuse the public opinion as far as the investigation was concerned.
One example is telling Beth about blood in the Kalpoe’s car. Most likely he did it to handle Beth, in order to shift her vision of primary responsibility from Joran to the brothers. Just guessing, though.
Also, Comemencia often stated or implied that the FBI was involved in the investigative process, when that was not the case.

Dompig was in charge of the interrogations back then. If you recall, he is the one that got the “confession” out of Joran on the 10th or 11th of June 2005, but it could not be admitted because the time duration of the interrogation exceeded the limit allowed for a minor.
When one week later the authorities figured out that the threesome was responsible for the crime and they envisioned the consequences of having an international coverage of the case and the investigation, it’s already too late. They can’t go back and undo what they have done, because the “missing” scheme would be revealed and that would mean the definite end of existence of the thriving Arubian tourism industry. Since then on, the madness and the lies have not stopped.
I am quite certain that Karen Janssen and Dompig should be in prison right now..

This all backs what I have stated from the start:
Aruba thought they could utilize the standard cover-up method used by all Caribbean Islands to cover-up a murder. Turn it into a missing persons case, dispose of the body so that it will never be found, and let the family go home to grieve after a few weeks.
Tourism doesn’t suffer….no one really knows what goes on.
But this case was different. Strategy 1 was to play the above out for a few weeks. When Beth screwed up their game plan – bless her – they mishmashed the next strategy. Strategy 2 was to frame a couple of black guys, have a trial six months later that falls apart due to lack of evidence and clear alibi’s. When Beth screwed up that game plan…the genie was now out of the bottle.
The embarrassment and corruption that took place in the first 10 days would be too damaging to expose. Strategy 3 was to bring in the 3 amigos and throw them in jail until Beth left. Beth didn’t leave. Then they through Paulus in jail. Beth didn’t leave. That strategy got screwed up by Beth.
Finally, they were left with one strategy. Play the legal system out to two years and then call the case cold as there was no evidence (ha ha ha). The boys were minors…keep them as suspects for two years. Paulus (the perpetrator in this case) would be distanced from the case by legal means. Karin Janssen sent her letter stating he was no longer a suspect (NO ATTORNEY WORTH ANYTHING WOULD HAVE SENT THIS LETTER – this was all about getting the perp away from the crime). The letter would be used to rule that Paulus was ‘no longer a suspect’ in the case. A further ruling would award Paulus money….further placing a layer on the onion and distancing him from the case.
There you have it….this has always been the only option for Aruba to cover-up this case. This is how cover-ups work and how law enforcement, attorneys, and judges (in the US or Aruba) work behind the scenes to protect greater interests (in this case…protecting Aruba’s tourism came first…but then protecting all of the goverment actors who did this cover up under the ‘color of law’…they can’t solve this case without half of the privileged in Aruba going down for their participation).
THE ONLY WAY THIS CASE WILL MOVE FORWARD – The New Attorney General needs to retract the Karin Janssen letter stating Paulus is no longer a suspect. The New Attorney General needs to appeal the judgement stating Paulus was ‘no longer a suspect’. Finally, Paulus needs to be rearrested, the hidden evidence needs to appear, as well as a full search of the crime scene (Paulus and Anita’s home).

You can not fix a ‘problem’ if you do not know all of the details. So the disclosure was very important and it was most likely to someone not on Aruba or he would have RAN to that person and told him or her in person.
What else was recorded? That WIRE TAP is the tip of the iceberg. There will be more to follow and the outrage will certainly be JUSTIFIED.

On Tuesday May 31, 2005 I sent a message to Joran. On Wednesday June 1, 2005 after I had driven round with the police force I called my brother Deepak and together we went to meet Joran at the Racquet club. In the evening hours at around 10:30, I went with my brother Deepak to Joran’s apartment. His father and mother were with him and we told them the invented tale of the Holiday Inn. What I noticed was that each time that my brother Deepak and I were visiting with Joran, his father Paul was there, therefore we could talk with Joran. The father Paul told us that we could be interrogated as suspects also after being interrogated as witnesses. Also I can explain that there was a time that when I was with my brother Deepak and Joran and his father was also there, Joran said “if a body is found that we are in big trouble”. My brother and I said to Joran that is impossible because we had done nothing. Joran said then laughing, “Yes, yes you are right”.
