Pelosi’s Choice For Intelligence Head – He Ain’t So Bright

When Silvertre Reyes was named as the compromise candidate for head of the Intelligence Committee, the Democrats expressed a sigh of relief. But after an interview with CNN, they should be afraid. Very afraid.

The new Democratic Intelligence Committee head is not the smartest, or observant, guy in the room. He was interviewed on who was Al Qaeda. HE FAILED. He was interviewed on who was Hezbollah. HE FAILED.  So the new “Intelligence” committee chair does not know the basics about the biggest protagonists to national security. Wonderful. Bet he is good at fund raising.

ReyesRep. Silvestre Reyes of Texas, who incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has tapped to head the Intelligence Committee when the Democrats take over in January, failed a quiz of basic questions about al Qaeda and Hezbollah, two of the key terrorist organizations the intelligence community has focused on since the September 11, 2001 attacks.

When asked by CQ National Security Editor Jeff Stein whether al Qaeda is one or the other of the two major branches of Islam — Sunni or Shiite — Reyes answered “they are probably both,” then ventured “Predominantly — probably Shiite.”

That is wrong. Al Qaeda was founded by Osama bin Laden as a Sunni organization and views Shiites as heretics.Reyes could also not answer questions put by Stein about Hezbollah, a Shiite group on the U.S. list of terrorist organizations that is based in Southern Lebanon. via CNN.com

Later on in the article, the writer used a wonderful analogy. It would be like the Baseball Commissioner not knowing the difference between the Red Sox and the Yankees. Yikes.

Intelligence Committee … another example of a political oxymoron.

Yes, this is the man that was put in charge over Rep. Jane Harmon of the Intelligence Committee. Why? Because Nancy Pelosi doesn’t like Jane.

That’s what politics and our National Security has been reduced to. Jane Harmon was bi-partisan and respected by both sides of the aisle and the intelligence community. I though Nancy wanted bi-partisanship. Right.

The MSM made fun of GWB not knowing who was the specific leader of Pakistan in 2000 elections. In a post 9-11 world this clown does not know who makes up Al Qaeda or Hezbollah. And GWB is considered stupid by the media elite.

However, this goes beyond stupid … this is frightening.

How does anyone get in charge of a committee chair when they do not have the slightest clue as to the basic questions?

Elections have consequence. This is exactly what many warned when people said they were going to vote against Republicans to set an example … anyone have buyers remorse yet?

Well I did notice that since the elections we have more unrest in Lebannon with the demonstrations to over throw the elected government. I guess the terrorists feel safe now…..oh, and I thought GWB caused more terrorism??

The lib mind is so dangerous. And yet even I do not, not always vote one party. ANd before leaving that line, we do desparately need an intelligent, competant, equal and better democrat party. But more on topic I am reminded of the interview last night of Secratary Donald H. Rumsfeld with Hannity.

One statement the Sec made rang loudly and conjured memory, when he related that if one comes into a office only to please and look good you might not get anything good done at all. That is not a particularly good caption of his remark, though works for my purpose. As I have seen his remark in local level political issues, where the one otherwise useless low level political figure who can find the most ways to ‘yes’um’ to the most obnoxious of our population — is suitable for a candidate on the next level. Beginning at the lowest rings of the political field, it is not the decent people, ones involved in actual community contributions, the raising of the better kids, or even from my observation (on a limb now) those who sweep their floor and mow their yard. Mostly what is difficult to work with in a low level political office is the few of the loudest mouths, who suck so bad as a parent, and character…they are trying to find some way of raising enough Heil, therefore weighting the own pockets enough to get to play on the Cee-saw.

Seems voters do not realize they notice this happening, but enough do, then enough do not, and do again…. What a cycle. Currently dangerous too. So many jobs of great Americans who serve this country now have an added complication. I feel for them trying to win/work against the house deck.

Hate to say it, but Reyes is probably as bright as anything Ms. Pelosi is going to appoint to anything.

I do not know where I read it, but remember a saying that goes something like this:

If the good people do not vote and/or become involved with the politics of this country, they’ll wind up being led by their inferiors.

Looks as if we are headed that way.

When I hear liberals saying how the people have spoken in reference to the recent takeover of the Democratic Party in both House and Senate, I have to choke! Here in VA, only 51% of the registered voters even bothered to show up at the polls…and the yellow-belly that beat Allen only received 9000 more votes. Sooo…..that means less that 25% of our state voted him in. What a shame! If only we had a clue what the other 49% of Virginias really wanted! They have NO rights to complain now. We have just what we didn’t need and it will show in time.

This newly elected official has already pardoned one death row inmate hours before his execution. The crime? Killed 3 people in their home. Why the stay? The governor is “unsure” of his mental condition. Geez! Wonder if he was speaking of the murder or himself. I’d have to guess the latter.

Does anyone wonder if we will have mass destruction by our own? He is an American and wanted to speak in Spanish?

Nancy, Nancy, you are surrounding your self with people who obviously lack…brains.

Should the right demand that Nancy resign?
