Social Security Fraud … Pete Costello Accused of Faking Retardation
Since Peter Costello was 8 years old he allegedly was pretending to be retarded. His mother, Rosie Marie Costello had collected disability checks on his behalf for 20 years. Nice. There are actually people out their with real disabilities and we get people scamming the system pretending to be retarded. The depths of which people will sink just never ends.
Pete and Rosie Marie Costello were indicted in September on charges of conspiracy to defraud the government and Social Security fraud, and the case was unsealed Tuesday. The Vancouver pair pleaded not guilty in federal court in Tacoma on Tuesday after the case was unsealed. The traffic ticket was deferred.
Barbosa filed with the court two videos of Pete Costello taken this year: In one, he allegedly feigns retardation during an interview with Social Security workers; the other is of him contesting the traffic ticket in a courtroom earlier this year. (AP)

Welcome to the real world of crime. I will make a conservative estimate that 60% + of the disability SS riders under 50 years of age are phonies. There are lawyers and Doctors ? teamed up that get thousands of people on disablity for a percetage of the backpay, they delay the SS claims for months to build up the back pay. Just think, these people aren’t stealing from the government, they are stealing right out of your pocket.
I have had a legitimate disability since I was 33 years old and I am still fighting the system at the age of 44. It angers me to no end that phonies get S.S and I can’t get it even with a legitimate Disability. The system is a mess!
Can’t imagine that an 8-year-old would come up with an idea like that. His mother must have tutored him in the plot since day one.
This is very worrisome in that we have more than enough politicians, entertainers (one and the same business, perhaps) who on the basis on their behavior would be readily certified as having mental handicaps.
Just imagine the future if, say, all our politicians tried to get benefits of this kind. Who would deny them to them?
The system is a mess. There are people scamming and getting benefits. There are people who are eligible and denied, repeatedly. I believe the latter to occur far more frequently than the former, however. Working in the mental health field, I’ve seen both happen.
That’s not all you have some doctors that are only willing to give false testimony.
Hey there was a lady in town fell at her work place is on SS, but damn come a nice sunny day her and her man ride that Harley out of town.
But, we also got a lady that had a stroke, that cannot get disability ss, you know what the lady with the Harley said,
she should get a better DR and lawyer.
While the rest us of bad backs, hands, and legs head off to work to support our families and the crooks.
I work in the field and their is fraud, but most are honest claims. It can take years to receive benefits. The system needs change.
I say put the a-hole in jail and let him rot. Or better yey let Bubba take him into the woods and take care of him.
I too, am fighting Social Security Disability. Two years ago, I was bit by a mosquito that carried West Nile Virus. I was in a coma for 2 weeks, on total life support for days and I have some brain damage and a paralyzed left leg. I walk with a cane and that is very difficult. Social Security turned me down saying that I am not sick enough. My weight had dropped to 64 pounds because of this virus and the digestive problems it caused – but I ain’t sick ya know! I’d like to take my cane and beat this guy! I’d also like to take my cane to the Social Security person who denied me! At least I’d feel better.
