Venezuela President Hugo Chavez … Call him Mr. Democracy … Hugo the Concerned
Who knew Hugo Chavez was concerned about the fair and democratic process of voting? Chavez has adopted safeguards to prevent tampering with the electronic voting machines in Sunday’s Presidential Election in Venezuela.
Unlike with most U.S. electronic voting machines, Venezuelans will get paper receipts that verify their choices were properly recorded, and must deposit them into boxes before leaving the polls. After Sunday’s vote, election officials monitored by representatives of each candidate will count millions of the paper receipts for comparison to the electronic totals.
Of course there is no mention of the threats, intimidation or they gun to their heads by Chavez when the people cast their E–Vote. But of course the MSM looks at Chavez as a Democratically elected President, not a Dictator. Wonder why Jimmy Carter is not monitoring the vote?

Maybe because Carter knows the US only accepts democracy when it serves their purpose – other wise we ignore the democratically elected winners or make conspiratorial claims that it was “rigged.”
Why are you guys so afraid of Chavez? Have any of you, Red or Tom been in Venezuela in the last 8 years to judge what Chavez has done? Be serious, he’s going to win fair and square! More than 9 million votes, for sure!
Gun to their heads? Are you kidding me? With all the Venezuelan media controlled by opposition there’s certainly no chance for that to happen. Stop crying about Chavez and worry about Bush and his “Stay the Course” in Iraq. He’s the real danger to the US. Mr. Danger!
My husband worked 5 years in Venezuela and we lived an
hour from Caracas. Every night there was gunfire and several
times we saw killings in the street at the Presidents
palace when we stayed the weekends in Caracas. The majority of people are very very poor. The millions of dollars in oil only makes the government richer. We were never afraid as Americans working for the oil companies were treated very nicely. This ended 5 years ago so I can’t speak for the situation there since then.
When they say “safeguards,” I wonder if they mean that the paper receipt bears some kind of ID … making it possible to review who voted for whom.
Remember how close Venezuela is to Aruba ….

You probably think Fidel is a great guy too, don’t you?
