100 Greatest Americans; Is This a Sick Joke?
The Discovery Channel and interactive partner America Online today unveiled the list of the top 100 nominees for Top 100 Greatest Americans. I will agree with out buddy at The 1754 Blog that brought this list to my attention, WHAT THE F#%K.
Take a look at some of these nominees. I am trying to figure out whether this is supposed to be serious, taken as a bad joke or do people actually thing that some of the ones mentioned are actually relevant? Lets just pull out a choice few.
Arnold Schwarzenegger: Was it his teaching children in Kindergarten Cop that put him over the top?
Barack Obama: WHAT??? I’m going to have to agree with the 1754 Blog, what in the hell has this man done? TOP 100 greatest American? Any cop on the street is a better American than this guy. Talk about pandering.
Christopher Reeve: Because a rich actor who made Superman movies fell off a horse and became paralyzed this made him a great American? Let’s face it folks, does any one really think Mr Reeves would have devoted any time to the spinal injury cause if it did not happen to him? I am sure he was probable a nice guy, God rest his soul, but top 100?
Ellen DeGeneres: Maybe they got this confused with the Top 100 Lesbians who were funny at one point and decided to just create a social platform instead of being a comic.
Michael Moore: Nothing need be said
Bill & Hillary Clinton: Is this a sick joke? What exactly did or have they done?
Now the above are supposed to be Top 100 Greatest Americans. I am sure that the readers of Scared Monkeys can add to this list of better and more qualified, deserving candidates.
UPDATE: And I thought the Discovery Channel was supposed to edumacate us, not pick list of the most popular current people of today? Hey Discovery Channel there is a world of influential great Americans that gave birth to this great Country of our. There are people that risked their lives and fought and died for this great nation. Most every cop, fireman and individual that volunteers for military service is a better American than many that you have on this list. This list resembles an MTV list than it does the Discovery Channel, sad.

Of course it’s a joke. Neither I nor either of the Scared Monkeys partners is on the list.
Q.E.D.
“Was it his teaching children in Kindergarten Cop that put him over the top?” Classic!!!
Boys have a penis, girls have a vagina!
McGehee,
You nailed it. How could a list have been made excluding such fine people?
As commented on another site, in reviewing the list put forth I was shocked that Carrot Top & Paris Hilton were not on the list.
Let’s see…
What list of America’s 100 all-time greatest would be complete without Pauly Shore? Tom Arnold? Bill Maher? Benedict Arnold? John Wilkes Booth? Rosie O’Donnell? Camryn Mannheim? Ted Bundy? Mickey Mouse? Martha Stewart? Hunter S. Thompson? Slim Whitman? Randy “Macho Man” Savage? Latoya Jackson? Alger Hiss? Walter Duranty? Spuds McKenzie? Helen Thomas? Dan Rather? Seabiscuit? Timothy Leary? Tom Daschle? Gerry Cooney? Joey Buttafuco? Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen? Richard Hatch? Woodsy the Owl? Al Franken? The Phillie Phanatic? Rin Tin Tin? Charles Nelson Reilly? Nipsey Russell? Sam Kinnison? Al Sharpton? Mr. Whipple?…
Hell, my list is as good as theirs!
Boy! With a list like that American’s will surely hit the bottom of the educated populous of the world. We have Chinese and Russians admiring our Scientists and we American’s don’t even know who they are. This station should be taken off the air and the Producer should be made to listen to interviews of the moronic list of Great American’s.
