Look Who’s Coming Back
After undergoing treatment for his thyroid cancer since late October 2004, William H. Rehnquist appears to be returning to the Supreme Court bench this Monday.
Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist is considering a return to the bench Monday when the court resumes hearing oral arguments, a court spokeswoman said yesterday.
Due to his illness it had been speculated that Rehnquist would not return and step down from the Supreme, “giving the court its first opening since 1994. ”
After seeing Justice Rehnquist on January 20, 2005 at the Capitol to swear in President Bush for a second term I must admit I was taken aback by his appearance and condition. It is obvious that the SCOTUS needs a man like Justice Rehnquist to provide a voice of reason. It is also obvious that he will be stepping don in the not too distant future which will bring upon the greatest uproar in Washington, DC to date. The Democratic Party has seen fit to comment on every Bush nomination to his Cabinet as the worst ever or an incompetently bad choice, let alone the obstruction of judicial nominees.
Since the Left likes to refer to George W. Bush as a Cowboy, then they should not be too surprised when Rehnquist steps down and the eventual naming of a new Supreme Court Justice and Supreme Court Chief Justice becomes “A Showdown at the OK Coral.”
