49 year old David Conley has been arrested and charged with capital murder after 8 people were found dead in a northwest Harris County, Texas home. The murder victims found Saturday night in the Houston area home were five children and three adults. Conley was taken into custody after surrendering to authorities after a stand off with police following their call to the residence for a welfare check.  According to Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas Gilliland, it was not yet known whether Conley is related to the victims, or how they died. As reported at NBC News, previous records show Conley has faced various misdemeanor and felony records dating back to 1999.

David Conley has been charged with capital murder after eight people were found dead in a northwest Harris County home.

Conley was arrested Saturday evening after a standoff with police in the 2200 block of Falling Oaks, not far from Veterans Memorial and Fallbrook Drive, after Harris County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the home for a welfare check.

After the standoff, deputies found five children and three adults dead inside the home.

The sheriff’s office will be holding a 3 p.m. press conference to provide more information.

UPDATE I: Five children, three adults found dead in Texas home following arrest of man who exchanged gunfire with police.

Gilliland said while waiting for a High Risk Operations Unit to arrive at the scene, deputies spotted the body of a juvenile through a window. Four deputies then forced their way into the home, prompting the 49-year-old male suspect inside to begin shooting. Deputies pulled back and waited for the operations unit to arrive.

Deputies pulled back, and the man surrendered about an hour later.

“At this time we have what appears to be five children and three adults,” Gilliland said. “Ages and genders we do not have, and cause of death we do not have. The medical examiner will have to determine a cause of death.”

The relationship between the suspect and unidentified victims wasn’t immediately known. No further details were released.
