You Tube & Google Refuse to Take Down ALL Islamist Terrorist Propaganda Videos … Free Speech?

As Memorial Day is upon us Senator Joe Lieberman takes on You Tube and their so-called free speech against American soldiers. Want to become outraged … see the videos for yourself that You Tube allows as free speech from the very people that would take away You Tube’s if they had the opportunity.

You Tube claims it is about free speech? Really, or only about a particular form of free speech? Is violent extremist Islamic material considered free speech? Is a propaganda video showing an American solder killed by sniper fire free speech? You Tube seems to think so. Why does You Tube ban certain videos that they deem offensive or against their political agenda, yet allow Islamofascist videos showing American soldiers targeted and killed as ok? Does that some how meet the You Tube guidelines against showing graphic and gratuitous violence. Are there guidelines, or do they just want to increase video views at all cost?

What is most pathetic regarding the You Tube response is that they feel that they are not responsible for the videos that are uploaded to You Tube. Instead they hide behind the guise for free speech and complain that they do not have the resources to pre-screen all videos uploaded on a daily basis. Well maybe they should get the resources from the revenue that they generate! They are making money off of video views. That is their business model. Free speech and stifle debate are the excuses? What a bunch of nonsense this is as You Tube has taken down bloggers videos because other people did not want a particular political or religious agenda shown. Instead of objectively taking down “hate videos”, You Tube creates an agenda driven “snitch and destroy” subjective means of censorship.

YouTube went on to say that it encourages free speech and defends the right of its users to express unpopular points of view.

“We believe that YouTube is a richer and more relevant platform for users precisely because it hosts a diverse range of views, and rather than stifle debate, we allow our users to view all acceptable content and make up their own minds,” the company said. “Of course, users are always free to express their disagreement with a particular video on the site, by leaving comments or their own response video. That debate is healthy.” (Computer World)

Executive Order 13224: BLOCKING PROPERTY AND PROHIBITING TRANSACTIONS WITH PERSONS WHO COMMIT, THREATEN TO COMMIT, OR SUPPORT TERRORISM

Why does You Tube refuse to take down all of the off their video site that are produced by terrorist groups that depict hate speech and gratuitous violence against our United States Military? Google and You Tube have been asked by CT Senator Joseph Lieberman to do just that, take down the offensive, hate and propaganda videos that promote violence.

In a statement posted on the YouTube blog, the company said that it had taken down some of the videos identified by Lieberman’s staff because they contained hate speech, gratuitous violence or in other ways violated community standards.

“Senator Lieberman stated his belief, in a letter sent today, that all videos mentioning or featuring these groups should be removed from YouTube — even legal nonviolent or non-hate speech videos,” the statement said. “While we respect and understand his views, YouTube encourages free speech and defends everyone’s right to express unpopular points of view.”

In his letter, sent Monday, Lieberman said that radical Islamist groups use YouTube to share recruiting and training videos.

Lieberman to YouTube: Remove al Qaeda videos

You Tube has taken down some 80 or so videos; however, not all. You Tube cannot hide behind free speech as they have already taken down 80 videos that were beyond any ethical standard to show. The problem is that You Tube is not enforcing its own policies and acting in any responsible manner to hold them self accountable to ethical broadcasting standards.  Lieberman has requested that they all be taken down and that You Tube adhere to their own standards.

Lieberman, who chairs the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, wrote to Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt to complain that YouTube is not enforcing its own guidelines against showing graphic and gratuitous violence.

YouTube Videos produced by al-Qaida “show attacks on U.S. forces in which American soldiers are injured and, in some cases, killed,” Lieberman’s letter said.

A Google spokesman said the company has removed about 80 videos that violated YouTube’s restrictions on gratuitous violence and hate speech following discussions with the senator’s staff last week.

The spokesman said it’s difficult to prescreen the hundreds of thousands of videos uploaded to YouTube everyday. Instead, the site relies on users to police objectionable material — simply by pressing a “Flag” button located under a video — which is then reviewed by the company.

“There’s nothing in our guidelines that says something produced by a certain group gets censored,” the spokesman said.

YouTube declines Sen. Lieberman request to remove terrorist-produced videos; Google unit says most cited videos don’t violate its community guidelines

Lieberman, chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Monday called on the Google Inc. subsidiary to remove video content produced by terrorist organizations that showed assassinations, deaths of U.S. soldiers and civilians, weapons training, “incendiary” speeches and other material intended to “encourage violence against the West.”

“Islamist terrorist organizations use YouTube to disseminate their propaganda, enlist followers and provide weapons training,” Lieberman said in a letter to Google CEO Eric Schmidt. “YouTube also, unwittingly, permits Islamist terrorist groups to maintain an active, pervasive and amplified voice, despite military setbacks or successful operations by the law enforcement and intelligence communities.”

In the letter, Lieberman noted that although YouTube posts community guidelines for its users, it does not appear that the company follows the guidelines. For example, he noted that despite rules that prohibit gratuitous violence on the site, there are videos of al-Qaeda attacks on U.S. forces in which some soldiers are killed or injured.
