Feds Announce Possible Terror Threat Around 9/11 Anniversary … “specific, credible but unconfirmed threat”

ABC News is reporting that new al Qaeda chief Ayman al- Zawahiri launched a terror plot for the 9/11 Anniversary. According to intel being developed by the CIA, that at least three individuals entered the United States in August by air with the intent to launch a vehicle-borne attack (car bomb) against Washington, DC or New York around or near the anniversary of 9/11.
Officials say the alleged terror plot was initiated by new al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden’s successor, who had pledged to avenge bin Laden’s death earlier this year in a U.S. raid.
Intelligence and law enforcement officials told ABC News that at least one of the individuals is a U.S. citizen and one official said that two of the individuals may have had U.S. documentation — whether green cards or passports was unclear.
The federal authorities have are warning local law enforcement that there is a potential terrorist threat involving car bombs that could coincide with the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that it had information about a “specific, credible but unconfirmed threat.”

UPDATE I: 9/11 Anniversary Terror Plot Probed, NYPD on High Alert
The public was urged to be extra-vigilant over the next few days and to report suspicious activity to authorities. Kelly said the city was preparing for extra calls of suspicious packages to the 311 hotline.
A source said the information comes from two separate threat streams.
The Department of Homeland Security acknowledged the latest threat in a statement, noting that intelligence gathered in the raid of Osama bin Laden’s compound after he was killed last May showed that al-Qaida is concerned with the symbolism of dates and anniversaries..
