Is there a double standard … will NBC’s ’Meet the Press’ David Gregory be charged with possession of an illegal gun magazine as stated by DC gun laws or slapped on the wrist?
Last Sunday NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ David Gregory played show and tell with a high capacity gun magazine while playing anti-Second amendment gin advocate, rather than news journalist. Many questioned how this was possible as to possess such an item in DC was considered illegal by law. According to Breitbart, DC police are looking into the allegations that Gregory violated the DC gun laws during the show.
Hmm, looks like David Gregory is possessing an illegal gun magazine to me.
Washington D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier has confirmed that the department is looking into allegations that NBC’s David Gregory violated D.C.’s gun banning laws during a recent taping of Meet the Press.
In a discussion about gun control, host David Gregory brandished a 30-round magazine purportedly for an AR-15 or similar “assault rifle.” The discussion took place on December 23, during the broadcast of NBC’s Sunday morning political talk show.
DC High Capacity Ammunition Magazines – D.C. Official Code 7-2506.01, and reads as follows. So what part about “possessing” and “regardless of whether magazine is attached to firearm” can Gregory say he did not violate? The law is the law.
(b) No person in the District shall possess, sell, or transfer any large capacity ammunition feeding device regardless of whether the device is attached to a firearm. For the purposes of this subsection, the term large capacity ammunition feeding device means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition. The term large capacity ammunition feeding device shall not include an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.
