Was there a sexual assault … Is this the Duke Lacrosse case, IMF version?
Dominique Strauss-Kahn was accused and arrested on allegations of sexual assault by a NYC hotel maid. However, according to a report in the NY Times the case against Dominique Strauss-Kahn could be on the verge of collapse. It would appear according to investigators that the maid that worked for the midtown Manhattan hotel that accused DSK of sexual assault has
repeatedly lied to prosecutors and is “personally associated” with money launderers and drug dealers. According to anonymous sources, prosecutors have serious questions about the credibility of a hotel housekeeper.
The sexual assault case against Dominique Strauss-Kahn is on the verge of collapse as investigators have uncovered major holes in the credibility of the housekeeper who charged that he attacked her in his Manhattan hotel suite in May, according to two well-placed law enforcement officials.
Although forensic tests found unambiguous evidence of a sexual encounter between Mr. Strauss-Kahn, a French politician, and the woman, prosecutors now do not believe much of what the accuser has told them about the circumstances or about herself.
Since her initial allegation on May 14, the accuser has repeatedly lied, one of the law enforcement officials said.
More from the New York Post calling that references the maid as a “con artist”.
“She’s a con artist,” one law enforcement source said, adding that prosecutors have concluded “she cannot be put on the stand.
“She’d be a flawed witness.”
The alleged victim, a chambermaid at the Sofitel Hotel, “continuously lied to us,” a law-enforcement source told The Post.
The Politico is reporting that prosecutors are asking that Strauss-Kahn’s bail be reduced as well as an easing of the terms of his strict house arrest. This supposed to happen on Friday as both sides in the case head back to court.
Dominique Strauss-Kahn was forced to resign from his position from his IMF position. Could this have been a conspiracy to oust DSK? Some have been skeptical of the news accounts from the outset, and with good reason it seems.
UPDATE I: Mr. Strauss-Kahn was released from house arrest
Mr. Strauss-Kahn was released from house arrest in a lower Manhattan townhouse, where he had been under armed guard and on electronic monitoring, after a judge during a court hearing loosened the conditions of his bail in light of the disclosures. But prosecutors, who retained his passport, did not seek to dismiss the charges, which they say they are still investigating.
