UPDATE I: Sad new to report, Skylar Kauffman was found dead. Her body was discovered near trash bins, a neighbor has been arrested.
There’s an “overwhelming” amount of physical evidence linking the suspect to Kauffman’s death, Souderton police Chief James Leary said.
Leary said a significant amount of blood and a trail with some of Kauffman’s belongings, including her boots, led police from the apartment building’s basement to the area where her body was found wrapped in a blanket, MyFoxPhilly.com reports.
Leary did not release the name of the male suspect, who lived in the same complex as the victim. The Times-Herald of Norristown reports the 25-year-old man is expected to be arraigned on charges Tuesday afternoon.
UPDATE II: Slain 9 year old Skylar Kauffman had run in with suspect James Troutman three weeks earlier. Troutman had invited Skylar and her friend to use the bathroom in his apartment where they saw pic of naked woman hanging in his bathroom walls. Following the incident, police responded but never charged Troutman with a crime. Sadly, three weeks later he would abduct, beat, rape and kill 9 year old Skylar Kauffman.
The man who allegedly would go on to take her innocence and her life, James Troutman, had invited Skyler and her friend to use his bathroom at Souderton Gardens Apartments, where they all lived, on April 18, according to court documents.
The girls went willingly, but when they saw the pictures, when Troutman offered to show them his “bird,” and when they realized that he had locked the apartment door behind them, they ran away and told their parents, according to court documents.
