It has been quite a while since Stacy Peterson and Lisa Stebic went missing; however, suddenly there have been breaking events that could bring an end to one of the two cases. 23 year old Stacy Ann Peterson went missing on 10–28–07 in Bolingbrook, IL, while 37 year old Lisa Stebic went missing on 5–01–07 from Plainfield, IL.
Could the remains found be that of Stacy Peterson or Lisa Stebic?

Suddenly there was a possible break in the case the other day that could just affect either of the two cases. A badly decomposed body was found of a woman in the DesPlaines River, near Channahan, IL. The significance of this location is that it was a location that had been an area of earlier searches for both Stacy Peterson and Lisa Stebic.
Police discovered the body near the Big Basin Marina, near I55. CSI recovery teams and State Police detectives have set up command on the riverbank and remain there this evening.
This location has been the subject of earlier searches for missing women Lisa Stebic and the Stacy Peterson, the wife of recently charged murder suspect Drew Peterson.
Could the remains found be that of either Stacy Peterson or Lisa Stebic? Presently both families do not know the identity of the badly decomposed body that was found as they must wait for and autopsy and DNA testing to be completed.
DNA testing is being done on the partial skeletal remains, which consisted of a rib cage, spinal column, and partial left and right femur bones, according to Will County Coroner Patrick O’Neil, who said results likely won’t be known for two weeks. But sources close to the investigation said the results could be returned as early as next week.A preliminary autopsy performed Thursday could not determine whether the body was that of a man or woman, its race, or identity. The remains included shreds of jeans containing a small amount of money, and the person had been dead for several months or more. The coroner’s office said it was unclear how the body parts were severed.
What are the chances that the remains located near both the homes of Stacy Peterson and Lisa Stebic does not belong to one of the two missing women?
If the remains are that of Stacy Peterson, think of the irony of the fact that all this time has gone by and in less that a couple of weeks Drew Peterson would have been arrested and potentially indicted for the murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio and his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, be found?
