Local Crime Blog Done Good … BLINK ON CRIME on the Story of Missing Kyron Horman

It’s just a case of local crime blog done good … A job well done at Blink On Crime.

It is also a glimpse into how the new media is covering crime stories and developing their own “exclusive” and “unique” content. Law enforcement has a new resource in fighting crime these days, if they wish to step outside the box and use it.

It’s the case of missing Kyron Horman and the bizarre story line that has transpired.  The Internet has come a long way and has come from a place where news stories can merely be discussed to crime blogs like BLINK ON CRIME where they can also be investigated and breaking “exclusive” news and events can be presented as well. KUDOS to Blink and her merry band of crime researchers for a job well done. They continue to be ahead of the curve and a great news source.

A special “Hat Tip” to KOIN Local 6in Portland, OR for their acknowledgement of the coverage, reporting and the investigative analysis that that BOC is providing in the case of missing Kyron Horman, “Report: Terri Horman’s 9-1-1 Call Made During Police Sting.” KOIN has done a tremendous job in providing the public news on this most bizarre case.

The crime-watch Web network “Blink On Crime” published new accusations Tuesday which further point to Terri Moulton Horman’s alleged role in hiring hiring a hit-man to kill her husband.

Reports Sunday in The Oregonian newspaper, confirmed by KOIN Local 6, indicate that police had interviewed the landscaper that Terri – Kyron’s stepmother – had tried to hire. That landscaper reportedly told them that Terri Horman had offered him a “large sum of money” to kill Kaine Horman – Terri’s husband and Kyron’s father. When the detectives related that information to Kaine Horman, he took the couple’s daughter Kiara and moved out.

The relationship between the media and the Internet has come a long way since we first starting blogging in 2005. Now a days media reporters are willing, and appropriately so, providing attribution to blogs when that information is unique content and copyrighted like at Blink on Crime. Having cut our teeth in the political blogosphere before venturing into missing persons and crime, there has always been attribution in that venue. However, for some reason in the Internet crime world, there are some who refuse to acknowledge the hard work of some and their “breaking” exclusive unique content material when investigating missing person cases and crime stories.

One would think that we would all be in this together and a simple link would be a courtesy hat tip, rather than the fact that it is the law of use of material. Hopefully one day all crime bloggers will take a page from the political blogosphere and understand that it is a mere professional courtesy to provide attribution to another individuals work and ideas. In essence, it is a form of networking and there is some thing to the age of adage, it is better to give than receive. I will end by saying this, if the MSM can provide proper attribution for content, then one would expect fellow bloggers to have the professionalism and do the same. If the blogosphere has not figured it out yet, we are all in it together.
