James Harrison, Kills 5 Children and Himself in Graham, Washington after Learning Wife Leaving for Another Man

Five innocent children gunned down by father who then takes the cowards way out and kills himself.

A father has done the unthinkable in Washington state. James Harrison has shot to death 5 of his children ranging in ages from 7 to 16 and has killed himself in Graham, WA. It is believed that James Harrison murdered his five children in their mobile home and killed himself after he found out his wife was leaving him for another man. Police found the father’s body in his still-running car near the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn. They would later find his five deceased children in their mobile home at the Deer Run mobile home park.

A father apparently shot to death five of his children, ages 7 to 16, at their mobile home and then killed himself near a casino miles away, police said Saturday.

Ed Troyer, a spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff, called it a domestic violence situation and a murder-suicide.

“We believe they all died of gunshot wounds,” Troyer said.

Police found the father’s body early Saturday in his still-running car near the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, about 30 miles south of Seattle. He had apparently killed himself with a rifle, although no note was left in the car, Auburn Police Sgt. Scott Near said.

Harrison and his 16 year old daughter had found his wife with another man at a store in Auburn, WA on Friday night. Harrison and his wife had gotten into an argument Friday night. His wife left and Harrison followed her and tried to get her to return. This is when she reported said, “she was not going home and that she was leaving him for the man with her at the store”. After learning that his wife was leaving for another man it is believed that James Harrison killed his children at their home. According to the police, four of the children were shot in their beds and the fifth was shot in the bathroom. Harrison’s wife was not among his victims.

UPDATE I: Father who killed 5 children was found to have physically abused one of his children in 2007

A father who is believed to have killed his five children before committing suicide this weekend was found to have physically abused one of his children in 2007, according to Washington Department of Social and Human Services records.

State records released Sunday show the child was abused in February 2007 but was not removed from the family’s home located in a mobile-home park in Graham, said Sherry Hill, a spokeswoman for Children’s Administration in DSHS.
