OUTRAGE!!! File this one under there is a special spot reserved in hell … Jaime Salcedo, president of Showbiz Promotions tries to profit off Caylee Anthony’s death.
Caylee Anthony Tribute Doll??? More like The Caylee Anthony “Exploitation” doll and Showbiz Promotions attempt to try and make a buck off the tragic disappearance and death of 2 year old Caylee. There is sick and there is reprehensible and then there is trying to promote the sale of a doll under the guise that one is donating money to a charity when it is simply being done for pure exploitive greed. It does not get in more poor taste than this. Imagine that board room meeting … yeah, let’s make a doll of that girl Caylee who was murdered by her mom Casey Anthony and call it a tribute doll, we’ll make a killing. Nothing more than disgusting.
Jaime Salcedo, president of Showbiz Promotions claims he is doing this to bring attention to the Caylee Anthony case. That is laughable. You are not bringing attention to anything, you are taking advantage of the news story and the death of a 2 year old.
Just when you thought you had seen it all in the Casey/Caylee Anthony case, along comes Jaime Salcedo, president of Showbiz Promotions and the so-called Caylee Marie Anthony inspired tribute doll for a mere $29.99. Unbelievable.
The Inspirational Caylee Sunshine Doll will go on sale Tuesday for $29.99.
The blonde-haired, 18-inch doll wears jeans and a T-shirt depicting a sun and the phrase: “CAYLEE SUNSHINE.” The song “You Are My Sunshine” plays when her belly button is pushed.
Jaime Salcedo, president of Showbiz Promotions, said he is not selling a doll that looks exactly like Caylee because it would be too morbid and difficult for the public.
Wrong Mr. Salcedo, the fact that you are trying to profit off a missing persons, murdered child is as morbid as it gets. Could anyone be any more exploitive that to try and cash in on the death of a child? What’s next, the production of Caylee’s missing friends Madeleine McCann and Teke Buggs and big sisters Brianna Denison and Amy Bradley? WTF!!! How insensitive and sick could one possibly be to promote a doll to make money and try and pass it off as a “Tribute”?
Oh wait, Jaime Salcedo, president of Showbiz Promotions says that he is going to donate $3.00 of every doll to a charity. Wow, 10% to a charity that he has not even named yet. Jaime Salcedo states that he contacted The National Center of Missing & Exploited Children and they said they were not interested. Really, what a shocker!!!
Jaime Salcedo, president of Showbiz Promotions also says he wants to bring awareness to Caylee Anthony’s case. Bring awareness? Who other than you sir does not know about the case of once missing and now deceased 2 year old Caylee Anthony? Every major network has covered the story, cable news shows have as well and their is a nightly commentary on the Nancy Grace Show as well. The story has been covered on TV, radio, print, and the internet. Who are you kidding, do not insult people’s intelligence.
Instead, he said, they want to honor and respect Caylee’s life by bringing awareness to her case.
“We want it to be a tribute,” he said.
Salcedo said this is the first product his promotions company will sell that is inspired by the victim of a crime.
Salcedo said he plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to charity — though he does not have an organization lined up yet.
Wait, Jaime Salcedo & Showbiz Promotions have also brought you the following other in poor taste items taking advantage of news events. Its one thing to make money off a Michael Vick chew toy for your dog, but a dead 2 year old girl! I guess its a good thing that they were not around when the Hallaucaust took place.
Salcedo also profited from similar news events, like Sarah Palin paraphernalia and Michael Vick chew toys. Salcedo said all doll profits will go to a high profile non-profit organization.
UPDATE I: Seems that some do not have a favoravle opinion of Showbiz Promotions, “Showbiz Promotions Showbiz should join Vick in jail Jacksonville Florida.”
UPDATE II: Nancy Grace discusses the Caylee doll and rips Jaime Salcedo & Showbiz Promotions a new one.
GRACE: Speaking of the wound not being able to heal, back to Andy Kahan. Andy, have you heard about the Caylee Marie Anthony tribute doll that is being sold for $29.99?
KAHAN: You know, just when I think I`ve seen it all, from serial killer action figures to serial killer calendars, and now you`ve got some sleazebucket company that`s trying to use the likeness of a poor murdered girl on a doll, trying to make a profit off. This is about the lowest I`ve seen anybody ever stoop to. And the fact that this company is claiming that they`re going to give, like, a whopping $3 of this $30 doll they`re trying to sell to some reputable organization for victims means that it`s just an afterthought on their part. This is about — they`re nothing but a bunch of crazed vultures, from my perspective. And I hope the American public doesn`t buy one doll.
GRACE: To the president of Showbiz Promotions, who created the Caylee Anthony tribute doll, Jaime Salcedo, sir, you have just had some very harsh criticism. Why the doll?
JAIME SALCEDO, PRES., SHOWBIZ PROMOTIONS: Well, first of all, thank you for having me on, Nancy. I appreciate that. And yes, I heard that criticism. It`s not something that we did not expect. We actually have been over it several times and we discussed the criticism that would come from this. And for that exact purpose, we did not create the “Caylee Sunshine” doll in the likeness of Caylee Anthony. We thought that that would be way off base in this. And…
GRACE: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait! Why does it not — the fact that you gave the little doll blond hair — how does that somehow remove the sleaze from this whole thing? I mean, Caylee was murdered. Her body was disposed of like trash. And you are making $29.99 off every doll.
SALCEDO: All right, first of all, just because you did mention the $29.99, a portion of the sales are going to charity. Now, I…
GRACE: How much? Who?
SALCEDO: And now…
GRACE: Wa-wa, wa-wa, wa-wa! How much?
SALCEDO: Now, at this point, a big portion of it is going. We don`t know…
GRACE: Well, how much?
SALCEDO: … because we haven`t sold any at this point.
GRACE: But you know…
SALCEDO: We don`t know.
GRACE: Right now, I`ve got a book that I`m working on. It`s going to come out. And I know that I`m giving exactly how much I`m giving to an organization that searches for missing children. Now, I don`t — and I haven`t sold a single book, may not sell one. But my question to you is, why don`t you know how much you`re giving?
SALCEDO: Well, because — understand that we can`t make that decision until we know what all the costs are incurred in it. A portion of the profits…
