Ignorance of Todays Teens … Trading Nude Photos Via Cell Phone Now Part of Teen Dating

“Adolescents are not known for thinking things through, that’s a generational constant.”

So much for passing notes in class, technology has made that all but obsolete. That and an unthinking and brazen generation of teens. Is this what it has come to with today’s teens? It’s bad enough that most cannot focus on anything but having their cell phone constantly attached to their ear or continual texting. Now we learn that sending nude photos of themselves has become part of the ritual of teen dating. What is the fascination with the voyeuristic generation of teens out there?

Have today’s teens lost all sense of shame and responsibility? Obviously teens that partake in such risky behavior also have no idea what “consequences” to one’s actions mean. Think these pics will not show up on the internet? Think again. Think these pics may not cost you a future job down the road? Think again. However, the sad reality is these teens who claim to be so intelligent are not thinking at all. Parents … where are you!!!

The instant text, picture and video messages have become part of some teens’ courtship behavior, police and school officials said. The messages often spread quickly and sometimes find their way to public Web sites.

“I’ve seen everything from your basic striptease to sexual acts being performed,” said Reynoldsburg police Detective Brian Marvin, a member of the FBI Cyber Crime Task Force of Central Ohio. “You name it, they will do it at their home under this perceived anonymity.”

Westerville Central High School senior Jerome Ray said he’s received such unsolicited messages, including one from a classmate while he was sitting with his girlfriend.

“A lot more girls are aggressive,” said Ray, 18. “Some girls are crazy and they are putting themselves out there.”

Experts said teens often don’t understand the dangers.
