More Barack Obama, “Hope & Change” … Israel foreign policy version.
It would appear that Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is none to amused Obama’s “hopey, changey” views of Israel-Palestinian peace. Following Obama’s comments regarding Israel and the 1967 borders, Netanyahu gave a novice US President a lecture and history lesson and what can only be described as a “foreign policy” biotch slap was Obama looked on.
Netanyahu basically said to Obama regarding the 1967 borders … IT AIN’T GOING TO HAPPEN.
From Reuters:
The New York Times reported that the telephone conversation was “furious” and that the prime minister “reacted angrily to (U.S. President Barack Obama’s) plan to endorse Israel’s pre-1967 borders for a future Palestinian state.”
The position essentially embraced the Palestinian view that the state they hope to build in the West Bank and Gaza Strip should largely be drawn along the lines that existed before the June 1967 war in which Israel occupied both territories.
As reported at the Gateway Pundit, it looks like Sarah Palin is offering Barack Obama a history lesson as well. Last night Sarah Palin appeared with Judge Jeanine Pirro to discuss the recent comments by Barack Obama and Israel must go back to the 1967 borders. Sarah Palin chastised President Obama for seeking a Middle East peace agreement at the expense of Israel’s territory. Obama says that it should not be divided but also said there should be a swap. Swap what?
Imagine Barack Obama lecturing Netanyahu the importance of peace. That is comical on its face. Like any Jew in Israel need to be told that by Obama.
