NFL fines Brett Favre $50K for ‘failure to cooperate’ in Jenn Sterger Sexting Case

The NFL and Goodell, they really are wusses …

Not only is the NFL gutless in canceling Sunday’s Philly – Minnesota football game due to snow, the NFL is completely thoughtless and ignorant in their final conclusion of the actions against Bret Favre. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell acts like a tough guy in handing out fines for helmet on helmet hits, but for some reason he “wussed” out on taking real action against Favre in the Jenn Sterger sexual harassment in the work force case.

“Today’s decision is an affront to all females and shows once again that, despite tough talk, the NFL remains the good old boys’ league.”

The NFL fines Favre$50,000. That’s it. Are you serious … that is the equivalent of like a $000 fine for a common working person. Favre makes about $11.5 million.  Commissioner Goodell stated that he “could not conclude” that Favre violated the league’s personal conduct policy based on the evidence currently available to him. Really you wuss, maybe because Brett Favre stonewalled the entire time and obstructed the investigation. Or is it because the NFL did not want to conclude? Gee Rog, ever wonder why Brett did not cooperate? Um, maybe because if he did it would have been incriminating against him? DUH!

Brett Favre was fined $50,000 by the NFL for failing to cooperate with its investigation of inappropriate messages and lewd photos he allegedly sent to a former Jets game-day employee.

Commissioner Roger Goodell “could not conclude” that Favre violated the league’s personal conduct policy based on the evidence currently available to him.

The league said forensic analysis failed to establish that the 41-year-old Minnesota Vikings quarterback sent objectionable photographs to Jenn Sterger. “The review found no evidence to contradict the statements of both Favre and Sterger that they never met in person, nor was there anything to suggest that Sterger engaged in any inappropriate conduct,” its statement announcing the fine said.

The NFL said its sole focus was on whether Favre violated workplace conduct policy, not to “make judgments about the appropriateness of personal relationships.”

Jenn Sterger’s lawyer, Joseph R. Conway,called Commissioner Roger Goodell’s decision extremely disappointing but not surprising.

“While I am not privy to how Mr. Goodell reached such a finding, we strongly disagree with his conclusion that there was insufficient evidence to support a violation of the policy,” the release quotes Jenn as saying.

Jenn’s lawyer said, “Our evidence and the personal testimony of Ms. Sterger clearly showed a pattern of lewd and offensive behavior by Mr. Favre that lasted all of the 2008 season. Our evidence clearly showed that the photos were sent by Favre.”

 What a cop out by the NFL and what a message this sends. We are supposed to believe that Brett sent voice mails to Sterger but not nude pics. Really? There is a bigger picture here and the NFL had an opportunity to make a staement. Instead, they did nothing but prove Jenn Sterger’s attorney correct in that the NFL is nothing but a “good oold boys” network.

 Sterger lawyer: Jets got off easy.

“… Mr. Goodell completely failed to address the complicity of the New York Jet organization in Favre’s conduct,” Conway said in the statement, as per NBC’s ProFootballTalk.com. “The evidence was explicit that Ms. Sterger’s personal telephone numbers were provided to Favre by still-current employees of the New York Jets. This was done without Ms. Sterger’s knowledge and consent.”

What a precedent the NFL and Roger Goodell have created. So if a NFL player, exec, etc sexually harasses a woman and then does not cooperate with the investigation … they will just be fined and the lame excuse of they “could not conclude” there were any offenses. UNREAL. What a disservice the NFL just did to women. Whether you agree, like or don’t like Jenn Sterger is irrelevant. The NFL just made Brett Favre innocent by obstruction.
