Alvin Greene may have more indictments than endorsements …
As if Democrat South Carolina US Senate candidate Alvin Greene did not have enough hurdles in his election bid to become US Senator, the recent indictment might also prove to be a death nail in his candidacy. 32 year old Alvin Greene was indicted by a Richland County grand jury on two charges, disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity — a felony, as well as a misdemeanor charge of communicating obscene materials to a person without consent.
Longshot Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alvin Greene was indicted Friday on two charges, including a felony charge of showing pornography to a teenage student in a South Carolina college computer lab.
Greene surprised the party establishment with his primary victory in June. His arrest in November was first reported by The Associated Press the day after he won the nomination.
Authorities said he approached a student in a University of South Carolina computer lab, showed her obscene photos online, then talked about going to her dorm room.
Prior to the two count porn indictment, Alvin Greene already found himself behind in the polls to incumbent Republican Jim DeMint by an overwhelmingly 62% to 20% margin. Look for this number to rise even more in the wake of the indictments. What might be most perplexing in looking at this Rasmussen poll, who the hell are the 10% who are unsure? I think it is safe to say that one second after the polls close in South Carolina on November 2nd midterm election eve, the race will be called for Jim DeMint.
Will Alvin Greene step down? What is more baffling might be how Greene was ever elected in the first place? According to reports, Greene has raised less than $1000. What a fiasco this is for Democrats in South Carolina.
Greene now has a website and says he has raised less than $1,000. He faces Republican U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint in the fall. The popular incumbent has raised more than $3 million.
Alvin Greene following the Friday indictments states that he will not quit. Will Obama go to South Carolina and campaign for fellow Democrat Alvin Greene, inquiring minds want to know.
