Congressional Black Caucus, NAACP, Al Sharpton & Obama Sell Out their Own for Reid’s White Racist Comment

Posted in: Barack Obama,Gaffe,Harry Reid (D-NV),Hypocrisy,Obamacare,Politics,Racism,Scandal,Senate,We the People,WTF

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. (Martin Luther King Jr.)

Character is defined by what you do when you think no one is watching. Martin Luther King Jr. died for the belief that it was not about the color of one’s skin. What say you Barack Obama, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, NAACP and the Congressional Black Caucus?

It is not about the color of one’s skin and when holding one accountable, it is not about the affiliation of their political party! To defend Reid’s comments is to do nothing more than enable racism.

It is a sad day in America when a racist comment is not called for what it really is by the very people who claim to defend the rights of minorities. Democrat Senate Majority leaders comments regarding Barack Obama were nothing more than racist. Reid did not make a mistake, he did not misspeak, his comments were not taken out of context.

Obama – a “light-skinned” African American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one” (Harry Reid’s comments regarding Barack Obama)

Do you really need to be a brain surgeon to figure out what the “white” Democrat Senator Majority leader from Nevada meant? After all, isn’t the true nature of racism the intent?

HARRY REID BASICALLY SAID THAT BECAUSE OBAMA LOOKED WHITE AND TALKED WHITE … that made him a good candidate and white America would accept him. What does that say for the rest of blacks in the mind of Senator Reid? Wake up folks, it does not get any more racist than that. These are not awkward comments, they are racist comment.

It is obvious there is a double standard for racist comments from politicians. Sadly, the very people who claim to be the champions of black minorities sit back on their hands and defend these racist comments because they choose party and political power over the people.

First, Reid’s allies plan to distribute the NAACP vote ratings of Republican senators who have scolded him. The data will be made available to editorial boards, cable programs and the blogosphere — including votes on minimum wage, community-oriented policing, education funding and HIV/AIDS programs.

Separately, the Congressional Black Caucus plans to issue a new statement Monday, defending Reid and brushing back Republicans.

“Senator Reid’s record provides a stark contrast to actions of Republicans to block legislation that would benefit poor and minority communities – most recently reflected in Republican opposition to the health bill now under consideration,” CBC Chairwoman Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) said. “I look forward to Senator Reid continuing to serve as Majority Leader to guide this important agenda through the Senate.”

Racism is an evil cancer. Imagine if doctors only went after half of a patients cancer with radiation, surgery and chemotherapy? Or only allowed half of the people to receive treatment? Although we have made major strides in this country in dealing with racism and the ignorance that furthers it, obviously racism still exists in America.

To make excuses and defend Harry Reid would be to say that because a white factory owner employed blacks and provided them benefits and insurance that it was okay for that same owner to behind the scenes use the “N” word with his friends and make “off color” references regarding the color od individuals skin as to whether they are management material. Does that sound like non-racist acts? Hardly!

One would have thought and the belief of many was that the election of the first black President, Barack Hussein Obama, would help further the ending of racism in America. Sadly, that notion was dead wrong.

How can we ever deal with racism as a nation if we have a political party that is exempt from being held accountable for racism and racially insensitive comments?

You can accept the apology; however, that does not mean that the individual should not face the music and be accountable. Of course one must question whether the apology is sincere or just damage control. After all, Reid only apologized after he got caught in the ignorant statement when it surfaced. As Patterico’s Pontifications aptly points out, Harry Reid’s History of Racial Posturing. Harry Reid is quick to use the race card, call others racist and compare Republicans opposed to  Obamacare akin to those who opposed slavery.

It is not like their is not precedent to this action by Democrat Senate Majority leader Reid’s actions. We need to look no further than 2002 when Republican Senate Majority leader Trent Lott did a similar thing. However, Lott was ultimately not defended and GWB came out in public and stated that Lott’s comments were not reflective of America. President Barack Hussein Obama is AWOL and has already accepted Reid’s apology with no statement.

Much as Lott apologized later for remarks he said were not meant to be racially insensitive, he was ultimately forced to step down by his Republican colleagues. Conservatives complain now that a double standard is helping Reid, but it was Republicans themselves who chose to push Lott out, and among Democrats, Reid has three big advantages the Mississippian did not have.

First is the president himself. While the Bush White House provided little or no help to Lott at the time, Obama has already come to Reid’s assistance. Soon after the news broke Saturday, the president issued a strong statement accepting Reid’s apology Saturday.

President George W. Bush, by contrast, said in 2002 that Lott’s comments did “not reflect the spirit of our country,” explaining that “any suggestion that the segregated past was acceptable or positive is offensive, and it is wrong.” Lott later wrote in his book, “Herding Cats,” that Bush’s public comments about the matter were “devastating” and that many on his staff had “grown certain that some powerful Bush staffers had launched a power play to replace me as Senate majority leader.”

How can in 2010 with America electing its first black president we have an issue put forth like Reid’s Negro issue and it not be a teachable moment for Barack Obama? Obama was quick to jump to conclusions when his professor friend was arrested in Cambridge, MA. Obama called the actions of the “white” police, stupid. He would later have to eat crow and in a way admit he jumped to conclusions and provided a symbolic teachable moment with a beer summit.

Why did Barack Hussein Obama in 2002 when Trent Lott made a similar racial gaffe act in quite a different manner? Obama stated that the Republicans had to drive Trent Lott out. Gee fearless leader, what changed other than the racist comments came from some one from your own party?

In December 12, 2002 from an issue of the Chicago Defender Barack Obama said the following when it came to the racially charged comments of then Republican Senate Majority leader Trent Lott … “The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party.”

RACISM IS EVIL. We as Americans and America will never get beyond it if we have politicians who claim to champion the cause, but instead make excuses and look the other way because the guilty is one of their own.

Never has there been a more specific moment where politicians are obviously representing and protecting their power rather than the rights of minorities in this country. Never again will Democrats and these black activists and institutions be allowed to cry racism.

RACISM IS NOT POLITICAL PARTY DRIVEN … IT IS IGNORANCE DRIVEN!

UPDATE I: More Liberals making excuses and enabling racism. Republican shame? HARDLY!

Every liberal publication knows that they were calling for Trent Lott’s head back in 2002 and so were many Republicans including George W. Bush. So the fact that there is a double standard is obvious.  It is sad, no it is actually pathetic that those in the media would make every excuse to state that Reid’s comments were not racist and bigoted. Of course they were.  There should never be any defense to racially insensitive comments as how will they ever have a hope of stopping if excuses are made?

Its a sad case of politics and party above principle. One would think that Barack Hussein Obama would make this a teachable moment. Instead he stands behind Reid, because the Nevada Senator is pushing Obamacare.  Nice. Blacks were just sold out for Obama’s socialist agenda.
