Democrat Harry Reid Plays the Race Card and Compares Opponents to Obamacare to Those that Oppposed Slavery

Talk about desperation and a failed and disastrous health care bill. Look what Harry Reid has resorted to.

Democrat Play Book 101, page 3 states that when you have no argument, no facts and the American people are against you on an issue, use the race card and call Republicans racists.

Harry Reid calls Republicans pro-slavery for not backing his terrible nationalized health care bill that would in fact enslave individuals to a government option that would become a single payer healthcare system.

From Fox News:

But Reid argued that Republicans are using the same stalling tactics employed in the pre-Civil War era.

“Instead of joining us on the right side of history, all the Republicans can come up with is, ‘slow down, stop everything, let’s start over.’ If you think you’ve heard these same excuses before, you’re right,” Reid said Monday. “When this country belatedly recognized the wrongs of slavery, there were those who dug in their heels and said ‘slow down, it’s too early, things aren’t bad enough.’”

Once again Democrat Senate Majority leader Harry Reid has sunk to the depths to evoke the race card where no exists. Reid likened the opposition to Obamacare by Republicans to the law makers that opposed the institution of Slavery. Yes, he said it. When you have nothing and a poor floundering disaster of a bill, evoke the memory of slavery.

As Michelle Malkin states, far be it from the truth and history get in the way of the hot air being passed by Harry Reid. Lest we remind every one what party fought against the abolishment of slavery? Do we need a quick history lesson Senator Reid?

It was the GOP that fought slavery and the Democrat Party that battled to preserve it.

It’s the Democrat Party, not the GOP, that boasts an ex-Klansman among its senior leaders.

But don’t confuse Harry Reid with history while he invokes slavery to lambaste the GOP for opposing the government-run health care takeover.

Are you a racist? The Democrats certainly think so if you dare oppose Obamacare. And every one thought that the election of Barack Obama, the first black President would help race relations. What a laugh. All it has accomplished was to give liberal Democrats free reign and a license to use the race card at will.

Big Government has it right, Democrats manufactured the crisis and the rage. There is a reason why a majority of Americans are against the socialized, universal health care bill known as Obamacare. There is a reason why nearly 80% of Americans like the insurance they presently have. However, in the eyes of Harry Reid and Democrats … you folks are pro-slavery.

Republicans condemned Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) comments. Is it any wonder that Harry Reid is failing in the polls in Nevada for reelection. Obamacare is widely opposed in Nevada as well.

PUHLEEZE !!!!!!!!!!! Spare us the drama and BS.

Just the facts, Harry. Stick to the FACTS about Obama’s Health Care Reform instead of all the smoke screens, lies, distortions and distractions…i.e, using the Race Card when there is nowhere else to go when met with opposition.

i bet harry has maids & pays them like slaves. probably illegals. a lot of politicians use illegals for slaves with little pay. maybe harry should be investigated.
democrats are always name calling like little grade school kids and shows their lack of maturity.
if defeating the deathcare bills means i have to be called pro slavery then SO BE IT !!!

    3. super dave on December 8th, 2009 8:16 am

harry just doesn’t like to be teabagged. democrats are very jealous of this movement. all they have is the black panthers.

    4. Sanny on December 8th, 2009 8:16 am

Everytime the Dems open their mouths CRAPOLA comes out. They just fall back onto the Race Card which is getting old….untrue and splitting the country up every time they repeat it.

Have they no brains? Answer: None at all.

Of course Reid was already there, but anytime someone tosses race by accusation as a play on the debate of the moment, I think their credibilty is shot permanantly.

since harry wants to play the slavery game he needs to access this site on his computer (if he
knows how) Black Slave Owners In The United States. everyone should read this and be enlightened.

It’s amazing how PC sensitive republicans can get when there’s good self-pity in it for them and there’s the possibility of scoring cheap political points. Most normal people understood immediately what Reid meant by the comment.

What Sen. Reid said was an accurate summary of current politics. If you really think it’s not true please explain how the conservative’s rhetoric over the last decade and particularly in the last year is any different than the folks who opposed emancipation in 1862 or the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Take a conservative of today and put them in 1865 and you would see a Grey Coated Secessionist.

Take a conservative of today and put them in 1965 and you would see a man nailing a whites only sign over a water fountain.

You see it played out on this website by “conservatives” on a daily basis. Just read “super racist’s” (#6) twenty posts a day. Lol.

SM: No, what is amazing is how absolutely ignorant and desperate Liberals have become. You sad pathetic bunch of ignorant waste. Gee Yoyo, them Maybe Dingy Harry should have used that reference instead of the one where it was Democrats who embraced Slavery, hmm?

When you run about of anything intelligent to say or any fact to back up an argument, that’s right … bring out the race card.

BTW Yoyo, what party presently has a former KKK member serving as a Senator? That would be the Democrats.

Um… Lincoln didnt free the slaves in the North, dude. He freed them in the South so that they would rebel and make it easier to beat the South. The ones in the North continued to be in absolute slavery until after the war ended many years later, at which point his hand was forced. Lincoln is the man, no doubt. But lets keep our facts straight.

      On to the article:

I think that Harry truly did himself diservice to bring up that point. What a dummy.

I think a more apple-to-apple point would be that Republicans fought tooth and nail to keep Medicare from getting passed, a social institution which no one would give up today. Medicare got slammed through Congress and Senate by democrats, the same way this will happen if it comes to pass. I think his main point is that no Republican has put forward any kind of plan except for “kill the plan,” and its sad that we are almost the last civilized country in the world to not take care of our patriotic citizens.

If we can recognize that our system is broken (ie – we pay more than any other country for health care and get about 3x less out of it) and needs fixing, why cant our leaders work together to come up with a solution? I dont like the current health care proposal, which is why im so bitter at our republicans. Stop just saying no and standing in the way. Tell these wussy Democrats what WOULD be a good solution. If Rep’s just sit on our hands all day then eventually the Dem’s will slam whatever version they come up with right down our throat without ANY Rep input. Come on.

Now im going to start to banter, whatever. I think this “my team vs your team” is nothing short of overplayed. It reduces the credibility of the entire government when people say “I dont care that my party is made up of a bunch of sissy losers, just as long as my sissy losers are in control.” What you fail to realize Dave, is that the Democrats AND Republicans have failed this nation. Neither live up to party values anymore; its quite pathetic that both parties have gone so far astray from their platform objectives. Why do you connect yourself so tightly to such losers (D’s or R’s) when you are clearly a lover of the USA and a patriot? I dont get it.

Our Republicans are not the same party they used to be. They increase the total number of government employees every time they are in the oval office, and they constantly try to take control away from state governments. “Smaller National Government” indeed. F$*# that noise, come on. Lets see past this mass-marketing smoke screen that is the two party system platforms. Only those who dont CARE to find out more believe the old party marketing gimmickery. STOP LISTENING TO THE MARKETING. You have a brain, ears, and eyes, so put them to good use people!

Return power to local governments, and get these sissy Republicans and wussy Democrats replaced with some REAL leaders who still are connected to American values. Screw this TEAM vs TEAM and lets get back to focusing on improving our nation. Both have failed, get them replaced, thats how $**t works in America. Or… is supposed to.

#8 “R” – Good Lord, are you really comparing today’s Republican party to what it was in Lincoln’s time? Lol. It’s apples and oranges. In fact, by today’s standards, Barry “Mr. Conservative” Goldwater would be declared a bleeding heart liberal. Did you fall asleep in US History class? I’m gonna help you out since clearly you need it…Dixiecrats became Republicans after Johnson muscled thru the Civil Rights Act. It was called the southern strategy.
When Johnson gave equal rights, they recognized that they had lost southern Dems. All them good ol’ boys became and remain Republicans.

#12 super racist – believe what you will. I’m sure you’re angry working those 7 jobs to make the same in a week as some do in a hour (hehe)…I bet it’s tough nowadays when all ya got is a GED. Lol.

#9 super racist – you are blatantly and admittedly racist and it needs to be called out.
If you seriously believe you are not fundamentally and essentially racist, then you are delusional.

    18. Scott on December 10th, 2009 7:40 am

Only one delusional is YOU…While you sit back and collect your welfare check at the expense of the hard-working Americans on this board; you spout the typical liberal TIRED and WORN out talking points. The polls speak for themselves.

Red is correct is his American history while the others are just plain out making up stuff or it’s the lies that liberal teachers make up and revise history.

People like you that suck off the tit of the rest of us are just plain ignorant and purely trash; you’ll get thrown out with the rest of garbarge liberals in Congress including the alleged head honcho!

    19. Bee Bop on December 15th, 2009 6:07 pm

      lol.

Spouting the “old liberal Tired and Worn out talking points,” eh? Seems like a pretty tired and worn out talking point in and of itself. The irony is delicious.

The tragic shame is that health care WILL be passed, and angry republicans like you will all point at it and say “SEE! I told you it would suck!” BUT the reason it will suck is because those sissy-@$$ republicans didnt man up and try and work together. Truly have become the “party of no,” just stuck in everyone’s pockets. Its funny though, Republican congressmen get federal health insurance and would never give it up, but dont want other decent Americans to have the same priviledge. Sounds really fair.
