Terrible news in the search for missing Jennifer Houle …

Police are saying that surveillance video captured 22 year old Jennifer Houle, a Carlson School of Management student and Pi Beta Phi sorority member, going into the Mississippi River from the 10th Avenue Bridge. Jennifer Houle has been missing since early Friday morning, March 27, 2015. She was last seen at the Blarney Pub in the Dinkytown are of Minneapolis between 1 and 2 AM. Authorities have not said whether she jumped or tumbled into the frigid waters of the Mississippi from the bridge; however, it is presumed that she is deceased. Authorities have begun a a water recovery effort in the river.

Jennifer Houle, the University of Minnesota student missing since early Friday, was caught on surveillance video going into the Mississippi River from the 10th Avenue Bridge, Minneapolis police said Monday.

Police would not say how she entered the water. Her body hasn’t been found, but police are acting under the belief she is deceased, Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder said. No suspects are being sought.

The video evidence was located Sunday night, police said.

The department will enlist the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office for a “water recovery effort” in the river.

A University of Minnesota sorority member missing since early Friday is presumed dead after video evidence showed her plunging into the Mississippi River from a bridge a short walk from the Minneapolis Irish pub where friends last saw her alive, police said.

But authorities have not said whether she jumped or tumbled into the frigid waters of the Mississippi from the 10th Ave. Bridge, just a 15 minute walk from where Houle was last seen.

The bridge soars 110 feet over the river.

UPDATE I: Body found in Mississippi River may be that of missing U of M student.

Hennepin County officials recovered the body of a woman from the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, near where University of Minnesota student Jennifer Houle went into the water several days ago.

Water patrol found the body near the 10th Avenue bridge around 7 p.m. Wednesday, officials said.

UPDATE II: Missing UMN student drowned; manner of death under investigation.

Authorities have confirmed that a body recovered from the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis is that of a missing University of Minnesota student.

The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office said Thursday that Jennifer Houle drowned. How the 22-year-old from Lake Elmo died is still under investigation.
